View Full Version : RS Updates: Gender & Country Flag
Mark has been busy added much needed things to RadioSEGA, such as gender icons (now you can title each other accordingly), and country flags. If you edit your details you can select from the options, when you select your country you have a little flag next to your country name. These are a requirement as it helps staff and other users know where people are from. As an example, a non-English country. These are two of the updates that were needed and really help not only staff, but users as well, when talking to others. No more confusion and no more problems. Have fun. ^_^
Note: If you need any help with it, just ask and someone will be happy to help.

Nice one Markus. Adds a real nice touch to the forums. Will help us as well to see which members don't have english as a native language.

Knowing him that won't happen for a while XD. Also, I guessed you were female pretty quick remember?

I just spend too much time online so I guess I can pick up these things. I also sensed Skunk was female too.

Hooray!
I guess.
Edit:
Now I'm unsure... for the country, should I click on Austria because I live here, on Russia because my family derives from there or on Ukraine because my family lived in the Ukrainian SSR but consider themselves Russian... x_x

Austria because that's where you live. :)

Okay, did that... but if you already separate Scotland and England, why not add Wales and Northern Ireland?

Wales is there, NI isn't though. I never created the mod, I just installed it. :)

Am I going to have to put up another picture and say "This is more you"?

I have this bad feeling that asking that will turn out very bad for me and therefore my curiosity again destroying my life, but: What picture?

No picture can combat the Reknoc one! -_-

It would have been better if he called me pretty or something, not some big blue male thing from the black lagoon. -_-

I hate to be the one to cause any drama; I normally try to find the positive things out of any situation. But..
I'm kind of against the whole, "You MUST select a gender" requirement..
On the positive side, it reduces confusion and it creates a more open and honest description of one's self.
However, on the negative side, I believe it's just TOO much information. I feel as if someone sees my gender, they already have me figured out. I have to have some mystery about me. =P
Seriously though, I don't want anyone to know my age or gender, as I'm just as much not interested in other peoples' age or gender unless we talk a lot and become online friends or something. It's a non-issue to me to know what other peoples' gender and ages are, but when it's a requirement to get that out there, my anonymity and others' is put at jeopardy and it just feels unneededly awkward.
So would there be a way to keep gender open to friends-only or keep private or something? I'm sorry if I'm exploding this out of proportion, I just rather not be a part of a 'statistic' of sorts I guess.

... O_o
Who cares? Do you think people are so close-minded to go and say "You're a guy, so I exactly know what your personality is"? I mean jeez. <_<

I don't expect anyone to care. XD
It's not that big of a deal to anyone else I'm sure, but to me it is. As long as I can voice my opinion, then I feel a little bit better.

Not to worry, I'm sure the peeps here give you a fair chance at building a reputation without judging by gender. Plus it's not like we're gonna start hitting on each other as soon as we see someone of the opposite sex...
Hey 32x, wanna get a drink some time?

Yeah im of the opinion that it doesn't really matter. All of the info on my profile is correct, name, age etc. And no'ones mentioned anything about said info. Mainly because it has absolutely no basis on my character on this site. People find that out by reading my posts and replying to them.

You can voice your opinion, that's what this board is for, but honestly... I don't really think how this matters at all. Gender is something I can see on you even without even knowing you. I just look at your chest, hell even your face, if you randomly pass by, and I normally know what gender you are.
I can understand stuff like, I dunno, name, birthdate, stuff like that... but gender? That's a little silly, if you ask me. And that coming from the gay guy. =P

Well, another thing I didn't mention was the storyboard in how I found out it was required. XP
I clicked on "Listen to RadioSega," started listening to the radio, clicked on New Posts, clicked on a topic I found interesting.. then that message popped up with something like, "You need to fill in spaces left in your profile." Any link I tried to clink on afterwards kept redirecting me to that message, even links not pertaining to the message board(like the homepage, listen to radiosega, etc).
It's like you start walking around in a mall, visit a few shops, then all of a sudden guards swarm every shop and demand to know your gender before entering.
Guard: "WHAT IS YOUR SEX?"
Me: "Um..what's it look like?"
Guard: "GENDER. NOW. |:"
Me: "Nu! D:"
Lollers.
Anyway I was worked up about it yesterday but now it doesn't quite matter to me.
And from my perspective..gender, while a physical trait and one that is highly distinguishable in person, is something I notice last on the 'first impressions' list when I meet someone(unless that person is highly feminine/masculine >.>).
Thanks for all of the replies and I trust pretty much everyone I've talked to on RadioSega(this community rocks), I just needed to rantsticles. X:

Something only Mark can handle, end of.
I like the gender thing, I'm fed up of being asked out by creepy men on other sites :I
You can still lie XD or change it every day to keep the few people (if any) that care guessing :)

I never get approached by creepy people thank God, but I do get to help out friends who are girls with online stalkers kind of often.
I'll just message you a story as to not get off-topic. XP
