This week's choice is from Joe "yes he is a real ninja" Musashi and it is Quackshot, developed by Sega of America and released in 91. Here's some info:

While Donald is flipping through some books in Uncle Scrooge's library, a treasure map from King Garuzia, the old-time ruler of the Great Duck kingdom, falls out. It leads to the king's most prized possession. Donald thinks this is his path to riches. Unfortunately big bad Pete overheard and pursues Donald throughout the game hoping to steal the treasure.

In the end, Donald enters the treasure vault, only to find a simple stone statue. He is disappointed, but Huey, Dewey and Louie accidentally break the statue, which reveals a golden jewelled necklace was hidden inside. Donald gives the necklace to Daisy and they take a ride in his plane together.

The player, as Donald, ventures through a variety of side-scrolling levels. Generally, each level is divided into an overland part and a dungeon (with the exception of Duckburg, the first level). Although the player may choose any order to play the overland sections, various obstacles prevent the player from entering the dungeons outside of a specific order. In addition to this some levels provide the player with vital clues which solve puzzles needed to progress in later sections, however these do not act like keys and once a player knows the puzzles there is no need for him to seek the clues in later playthroughs. Once Donald has completed the overland section of an area, he may leave by calling his nephews' biplane, and will return to the dungeon entrance of that area if the player chooses to return.

Well, this sure is a classic. Haven't aged too well, I'm afraid. Once I got the 2nd map, things quickly started to feel boring. Gonna play it some more to decide on a score.

I'll have to try it tonight then see how it's aged. I have really good memories of this as a kid. I played it loads.

OH MY HOLY HELL O___O

Mr Musashi, you may well have just found the game I've been trying to get for years! I had a Donald Duck game as a kid where you shot plungers and went through areas...Translvania (lord knows the spelling, sorry) and Egyptian temple type areas...

I can't wait to try this out when I get home <3

Just gave it a go, first time I played it... alright I guess, not as good as Cold Shadow.

It's enjoyable enough, until I got to the Mexican temple and I had to shoot at the Not-Thwomps and climb them.

Meh. Give it a 3 cause it's a decent platformer packed with a pinch of nostalgia. A bit too short and too many bottom-less pits.

I have quite fond memories of this game and played it to death when I was small and envious of my friends sufamis. Thought this game was one of the hardest ever as I collected extra lifes going back and forth to that inventor in Ducksburg gathering extra lifes and almost always wasting them all before I could get past the lowering roof in the temple. It it actually possible to get past that room without jumping on the tiles in correct order if your extremly fast and time your slides and plungers well enough.
I did feel like an arse when I realised you could just jump on those buttons.
