View Full Version : Yet ANOTHER PSP Revealed!
Sony, why do you amaze us? Yet another PSP was revealed yesterday at the Leipzig Games Convention code-named: PSP-3000.
The info that I know for now is that the PSP will have a slimmer design, a brighter screen, Skype, an built-in microphone and a redesign of the "Home" button with the logo.

What do you think of this?

I think: Ill wait for this PSP.
I think this will make older models of PSP's even cheaper so I might be tempted to get one, because seriously those are stupid features.
Also Skype? What the hell? Are they trying to compete with the iPhone now or something? Also redesigning a button is by no stretch of the imagination a feature.
I was excited when I read up on this.
Seriously though, why do Sony bother? =/ why not give us 2 analogue sticks, like we've been shouting for? That would let us have proper PS2 ports, it would finally play right and be awesome.
A Higher screen resolution? Woooow...that really makes me want to trade in the Slim I bought 6 months ago Ž__Ž pointless...
Though Skype is actually really useful on the PSP :3 its been there for ages

Yeah it might be nice for people that haven't already got a PSP but it's not really a step up enough to make me want to purchase a new one.

Just read it has a built in microphone, that can be pretty useful =]
Though I'd rather they just packed in a free microphone headset...rather than have you look like a tube trying to talk to your psp XP
All I want is some new games ^__^" don't care about a new system, that's no good if there's nothing exciting to play on it..
Its the DS that has the really really cool IP's, shame its hardware is about as sophisticated as my calculator..

Think I'll stick with the second model, don't use Skype and the other functions seem pointless.
In my opinion, it looks good, but I'll stick to the second model. Because 2 PSP's is enough, now 3? Sony, you're out of your mind. -_-
IN OTHER NEWS: Sony also announced yesterday that a new 160GB PS3 is being released in a pack with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a voucher to the PSN game "PAIN" and a DualShock3 all for 500$. Now Sony's crazy. XD

If that was released here it'd be pretty cool =]
That's a really good price...except the new 80GB will be like Ģ300 here...so I doubt we'll get that model...
I'll try figure out how to get new hard drives soon, too much anime on mine XD but yeah, I suppose newer models means older ones are cheaper, that my tempt some new people to buy, that's good :)
But that PS3 probably would be like the 40/80GB we have now. XD
But the PS3 is just too expensive. If it was for space, i'd say this PS3. As for the price, I'd go for the 360 Elite. It's cheaper. XD

Never interested in a PSP, not many games to play... ... not many games of my interest XD

Awe XD it is worth it, it'll be your best friend for 2-3 months, then your distant aunt until Sony gets its act together..
There's a whole host of awesome games...its just trying to find something after you've played them =/ upcoming titles Kingdom Hearts (Hate it) Resistance (Will have rubbish controlls) and a Final Fantasy I think?

As this PSP is a new model, I guess the other could be a little cheap, in that case I will try to get one =P
Kingdom hearts is a tentative title, do you hate Kingdom hearts?

Eh, Rayne, that's not the only reason to distant yourself from the PSP... play it for a few 2 or 3 months, then go to the DS until an interesting game for the PSP's released. XD
The only good games I've played on it were God Of War and Crisis Core. ONLY! No Daxter, no Ratchet & Clank, only those two. It means that those games were THE PSP games. -_-

AH! WELL! If I need to buy a PSP just for 2 games is cool! XD
Hmm... Sonic Rivals, Sonic Rivals 2, Gradius Collection, Kingdom Hearts, Megaman Powered Up and Megaman Maverick Hunter X, all I have in mind now...
Then I think is worth it :P

Mr Shadid, you have no taste XD I've owned 3 DS's and traded them all in because the screens are too small, and the games are both dull and ugly.
I have more PSP games than any other format  they're really cheap now, and there's a whole bunch of awesomeness...
Powerstone Collection, Sonic Rivals, Tekken, Megaman, Final Fantasy, Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Buzz, Breath of fire III, I really can't choose any to list =/ there's loads
Edit: DRAGONBALL Z!!!!! Naruto!! XD

Yeah I'm enjoying mine too. Castlevania X and Silent Hill are pretty good too as well as the others mentioned.

I have no taste? At least the DS in Japan has "Jump! Ultimate Stars" in which is Melee, but with Anime characters (Including Naruto and DBZ characters), and did the PSP get that type of game? no. XD (I'm not a DS fanboy, watch it!)
But I agree with you, Rayne on some games on that list of yours. EXCEPT NARUTO! XD

Jump doesn't count, it never saw release outside of Japan ;)
XD yeah Naruto sucked, I just remembered how it played...it looked very pretty though and the PS3 version demo was amazing

Do you know a technique called "Patching to the English version"? XD
Yeah, I liked the manga, but the anime sucks. But the PS3 one looks indeed good, but not enough to buy it.

I bought Rise of a Ninja on 360, and that was rubbish (WAY too easy to spam)
So long as the PS3 version has enough characters I'll buy it :) I LOVED the new fighting system, the semi-3D thing was genius, the finishing moves are awesome and graphics are sweet..
I don't see what the big fuss is all about. Nintendo released three different versions of the GBA and people didn't really whinge or whine about it, and still bought them in their droves. Similarly, there's been two versions of the DS, with a third rumoured, and people still rush out for those as well.
What does it matter if Sony have revised the PSP twice to make it less bulky and added new features in. The "3000" bit is just to show that it's the third revision, it's not as if Sony's calling it the PSP 3 or anything.

Because the GBA SP and DS Lite actually improved the console?

SP was a semi-improvement, I could not stand having to sit/stand/hang from a tree in just the right position so I could see what I was doing on the older model. But in the case of the DS Lite, that was simply a money spinner, tarting it up just to get more people to buy it. Ninty are bugging me lately to be honest, their quality seems to have gone down since they found themselves a new market... >_<
But back to the PSP, I've been slightly curious in buying one for a little while now and to be honest I'd say that the second version seems the most appealing to me.
Buy the second model only because of the library and the Skype function. ^_^

The market that doesn't give a sh*t if its shovelware or not? XD
The second model rocks :D the old one feels so bulky in comparison

Well the back light wasn't the only thing that made the SP better than the original, it also had a built in rechargable battery and a much better design.
But whatever, I guess more PSP versions are a good thing, y'know gotta redesign those buttons and whatever the hell, cheaper the original or second version gets the less I feel ripped off when I eventually buy one.

Then why bother buying one if you'll feel ripped off?

Because it would be nice to have one.
Maybe I also plan on having all the latest FF ports/remakes on a handheld system and the PSP currently has FFI and FFII.

It had really cool designs =] the Zelda one made me drool...I really couldn't see the screen on the first GBA, no matter where I'd play it

As far as screens go the PSP owned. I mean, my eyesight is pretty bd and if I play the DS too much my eyes feel the strain. It's just I like more DS games than PSP games so far. Though it's easier to try DS games with flash cards and all.

What do you think of this?
No added power under the hood? No extra buttons? No retro console emulation? No chance of a homebrew SDK? Pox on this, I'm digging out my old PSOne!
So price wise it doesn't seem much different than the Slim but nowhere seems to do it without FIFA 09. What the hell?

Why? Because it's not a bug it's a feature. (http://www.pspfanboy.com/2008/10/21/psp-3000-scanlines-a-hardware-feature-no-fix-planned)

Difference is the 3000 is only available with FIFA, like every site I checked didn't have it by itself it had to come with FIFA. Whereas the 360 generally just gets packaged with whatever big game is at the time and/or Halo 3.

Really? That's just plain stupid. Ridiculously stupid. Bordering on criminally stupid. Actually, it is criminally stupid. Someone needs to pay for that. Does anyone know where I can find the heads of EA and Sony so that I can hit them repeatedly over the head with a large baguette?

Then again, it'd sell even less if they tried packaging FIFA with it in America. Perhaps Sony are working on the stereotype "All Brits love soccer! Especially with their tea and crumpets!"

If we were on any other forum >__<" zip it rayne, zip it...
The DS has cheap popularity, crammed with shovelware, some fantastic titles, mostly bullshit. The PSP has soccer...as does every other platform, as games like that are done by EA, EA publishes games to every format anyone would buy.
The PSP has a vast back catalogue of many fantastic, in depth and amazing games, many of which I've found more entertaining than standard console games, play a console before slating it.
Anyway, you bought a psp Kaito? :O

No, no... ...
I have the feeling you mis-read my post =/
I wasnīt talking about the PSP, just about the game. I donīt like FIFA, and the popularity of FIFA, or any other footballīs game, thatīs all.
About the consoles... heh, I wasnīt refering to the PSP as "cheap", that would be strange coming from me. Is more, I donīt care, I donīt have any particulary preference. I buy consoles to play the games I like, no if have better or bad titles.

Fifa is a series that just keeps going....I've no clue why....I mean, why not go outside and do it? I can't go murder everyone or throw shells at passing cars...(legally) but footballer's have it made :P

You're awesome Kaito, you always crack me up XD.
Anyway, that could be a valid reason or it could be that Sony just don't give a crap about Europe same as all the other companies who give us the games a year late but a lot of gamers here like football and it's been proven.

But it could always be worse; we could be Australians.

*laughs* owch...I don't mind it reaching a mass market, its just there seem to be less and less games released, I've not got the time for many RPG's anymore, and that was the one genre where the DS sort of stood above the PSP
I must have missed it then, Bravo! :P If you need any software or APPs just say, video converters and the like.
