Hello comrades! I'm considering maybe obtaining a PSP at some point and I'd like to know your various valued opinions on the console to help me make up my mind. Thank you. ^_^

I loved mine, I can think of quite a few good games for it and If you don't mind buying second hand, both the system and the games are cheap.

What kind of games you into?

I haven't made too much good experiences with the PSP - I only tried it out, it was too much of a portable multimedia thingie to me, and too little of a game console. And, in comparison with the DS and its superfast loading times pretty slowass.
There are only a handful of games I'd get for the PSP (Guilty Gear, Sonic Rivals, Megaman Powered Up).

Not to mention my general aversion towards Sony, but that's not something to put in here. =P

What does you make consider getting the PSP, if I may ask?

I'd say go for it, I like my PSP. It has a good amount of titles and has a lot of good media features to it.

Anything fun/interesting/quirky.

It's be a nice combination of a new media player (My current one is almost falling apart) and it would allow a wider variation of games I can play on the go, to compliment my DS with.

Anything fun/interesting/quirky.

Fact is, the PSP only brings PS ports respectively "the standard stuff". Racers, Wrestling games, typical RPGs, a few shmups. In my opinion the DS has far more interesting games, and especially far more quirky ones.
The only quirky concepts I can get right off the bat for the PSP would be PixelJunk Eden and LocoRoco.
The DS has not only games like Super Princess Peach, Magical Starsign, WarioWare, Phoenix Wright or Electroplankton, but also the possibility of GBA games. DS AND GBA are region-free, so you can import the awesome Bit Generation game series.
Besides you can have a lot of homebrew software on the DS.

It's be a nice combination of a new media player (My current one is almost falling apart) and it would allow a wider variation of games I can play on the go, to compliment my DS with. You could get that with a DSi. Or with the DS mp3 stuff from Datel. The only thing the PSP would have over the DS is being able to play movies. However, who needs movies on a crappy small display anyway?

It depends what you want really. The psp does have some good, solid, playable games on it, some good rpgs, racers, shooters etc but the ds has some great games too and they have bags of quirkiness but some of the games on it might be considered an aquired taste. Both great in there own ways, I think there marketed for different types of gamers.

Well I was gonna do a thread like this aswell but my question is should I get the slim or original? Are there any obvious advantages the slim has? Does the analog nub still suck?

The stick has been raised, the screen is brighter, it has double the RAM and can be hooked up to a TV.

That the slim huh? hmm... might get that then, not paying the crazy amounts of money for an awesome Zeon PSP (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Limited-Edition-PSP-2000-Console-Mobile-Suit-Gundam_W0QQitemZ130257850186QQcmdZViewItem?hash=it em130257850186&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14).

Don't think it's worth paying all that really.

Ok, I only recommend 4 games:
Puyo Pop Fever
Megaman Powered Up
Megaman Maverick Hunter X
and...
Locoroco. XD (I also recommend Patapon, but Locoroco is better. =D)

And that's it. :)

Well I don't want ugly 3D Mega Mans, but I hear the Castlevania has a 2D option for Rondo of Blood.

ok, honestly, I only find the PSP interesting because:

RPG choices
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
the Advance Wars clone, forgot it's name.

---

If you're looking for some casual childish-looking fun experiences, don't get roco-lococo, get a wii/ds, and experience new ways to play casual stuff.

the media features, as in the DSi, are kind of an unnecesary function, we all have our Mp3 players and PenDrives already...

If I were you, I would get a DS, or wait 'til DSi if you want the media functions, even more if you are not a hardcore gamer, i see PSP as a "portable RPG" console, but after the tokio game show.. some cool RPGs are coming for the DS... so ... yeah..

I've had a DS since their first release (And I'm happy with it) I just wanted something to replace my failing mp3 player (It's falling apart) and that's allow me a wider choice of games.

I went out and bought a PSP today, liking it, but I can't figure out what on earth the file type for video has to be to make the thing recognise them. (And that's after spending an hour consulting the Playstation website to help me, without an included manual) ^_^""

Edit: Finally found something to make the videos work. ^_^

Donīt think, just buy!!!!

Thereīs at least 30 titles that are all amazing and must be played...a really wide range of things, very cheap now too, there may not be much comming out, but the same can be said of the Deeeayes...

Even if it was just for multi-media itīd be worth the purchase, so the games are a bonus :D The PSN store has some pretty awesome stuff on there too :3

Actually, the reason Vista sells is because Microsoft stopped letting people buy computers with anything other than Vista. They also stopped selling XP discs. I've never met anyone who's used Vista willingly.

They'd have to airship me to get me to install that crap.

Ok so I've had an interest in Monster Hunter since I started reading the manga by the Fairy Tail dude. Is the PSP version worth getting even though it doesn't have online play? It seems to be mostly an MMO.

Well, for starters I can tell you a lot of people I know who have it say number 2 is far better than number 1.

Yea Freedom 2 was the one I was planning on getting since there seems to be no reason to get any earlier version.

All PSP console bundles in store suck. :(
