This looks so bloody gorgeous.

For those not in the know SEGA WOW are Wow Entertainment and SEGA Overworks. Between them they created House Of The Dead, SEGA GT, Skies Of Arcadia, Streets Of Rage series and Shinobi. So this why my hopes are high on this one.

Anyone else playing this right now? I have been hooked for the last couple of weeks and can say it is my game of the year hands down.

Graphics and setting do look very nice. There should be more games from this period, I'm fed up of everything being set in the USA all the time.

I can't wait to get my hands on this :P looks to be amazing fun.

It really is a great game. The tactical depth is very subtle but around act 7 you will find yourself scratching your head as to where to place your units etc.

The DLC that Japan has is due over here in a couple of weeks which is great.

That's fantastic, I found a few PS3 games are out now with little or no press, so depressing :/

So comparing it to other games, is it an advance wars style game? fire emblem, C&C?

It is very much like a cross between Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. It ditches the grid based gameplay and gives you a bar that counts down on how far you can move with different units being able to move further than others. As well as that the enemy will fire as you move so you will have use cover to move some of the weaker units around the map.

I love this kind of game usually, had all the Nippon Ichi games for the PS2. Damn shame I don't have a PSTriple.

Sounds a little like Eternal Sonata's battle system, that should be very interesting :P still waiting to get it from LoveFilm

Well I finally picked this game up today.

There's no words to describe it :O this game is a AAA title, a must buy! It should be the pride of the Playstation!

The visuals are gorgeous and the story isn't complex but interesting enough to hold your attention.

Gameplay utterly rocks, the perfect balance between strategy and action. Planning where to deploy your units is just like Advance Wars, then using your units is a cross between Eternal Sonata and a third person shooter.

Units are varied, management is easy, the game is just perfect :D the only thing that could possibly make it better would be a local 2 player, fighting against each other

I just checked out the IGN video review. Wow. The pictures are one thing, but seeing it all in motion is a sight to behold. The concept behind the game sounds really great, too. I've never really given a tactical RPG a chance, but I think I may pop my cherry with this one down the line when (if) I get a PS3. Good to see Sega getting unanimous praise for a change!

I still don't really believe SEGA created this game :P good on them.

They should leave Sonic to a new developer and concentrate their efforts on new IP's

Does look really good, not sure about getting it though. I don't really care how pretty its anime graphics are, but like every SRPG I buy I'll probably enjoy it for a few missions, die then get annoyed and stop playing it.

I have the game, and it looks really good! Never thought they'd make a good game like this.

The gameplay is understanding enough, just deploy soldiers, attack, wait for enemy turn, etc. The graphics are also awesome, more Anime-ish visuals, looks awesome. ^_^
There's one problem. If you don't know what you're doing, you'll die more than you imagine during battles. XD
Overall, the game looks good.

We all know who should they keep tthe franchise to. *points at Dimps*

Overall there's something satisfying about not just deploying and commanding your troops but actually aiming and shooting with them too :P

Three bits of DLC came out yesterday for £3.19 each. The Edy DLC is one mission but the Selvaria’s Mission DLC is a short campaign mode and EX DLC gives you the option play the skirmishes in hard mode(without the Edelweiss). Which is great for leveling up.

Just completed the main story over the weekend. 10/10 for me. Wonderful game. I am going to go through the DLC now.

I so hope a sequel is announced or a PSP version that I can play wherever I go:)

[A] PSP version that I can play wherever I go:)

Seems you can tell the future, as SEGA have announced a Valkyria Chronicles 2...on PSP. It's due out in Japan sometime this year. Source (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/official-valkyria-chronicles-2-site-launches/)

Awful controls you say, hmm. If you're talking about the PSP, I can only take it that you have had harsh experiences with it? If you're talking about the game...then no comment.

I'm a raging raving Sony Fanboy and even I need to admit the PSP is a bitch when it comes to controls :( it's fine for platforming and the like but I haven't yet played an FPS game that controls well.

Valkyria shouldn't have too many issues...I hope :P

Yeah you got a point, the controls on PSP aren't easy for the bigger games.

Yea it's unfortunate, the PSP has the hardware to be an awesome portable PS2 but the design was completely out there making it possibly one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever had the misfortune to hold. The lack of support from developers didn't help much either though.

Seems to be picking up though, Soul Calibur, FF Dissiwhatever, LBP, Motorstorm and Assassin's Creed are all looking good

Shame it seems like the final desperation attack before the console dies. Basically what I'm saying is, Atlus need to port Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne to the PSP.
