What a weird little game Seaman is. Has anyone ever played this before? It's really strange as you talk and take care of a human-faced fish. Basically it asks you questions and you respond with "yes" or "no" and throughout the game it does a variety of "actions". Eventually it evolves into further forms if you take care of it right. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b9/Seaman.jpghttp://www.justadventure.com/reviews/Ecco-Seaman/Seaman.jpg

One time, my little brother asked if he could play it and I said no, because I believe the game is mature for him since he's 10. Would you agree?

Also, it would seem that Seaman 2 is in the works, which seems even more bizarre.

I remember seeing it in my Dreamcast magazine when it was announced. I could only get it on import for my Japanese Dreamcast, never did buy it because I didn't have a microphone for it or any I was able to buy for my system. Looked like a good game and still does.

What the hell? First off the title sticks out to me "Seaman" hmm.... wonder what was going on there. Second is the fish. What were they actually thinking when they made this game? Sega got borred. Badly I think. I'm not bad mouthing this game don't get me wrong, it's just something that makes me think "WTF???". I need to play this for no reason what so ever.

I guess they made the game really strange to freak people out and to test the new microphone product. It's kind of funny because it's so bizarre and a little boring at times. It doesn't last too long either. I wonder if the faces on the fish is actually based on a real-life person or not?

I must admit it doesn't look to exciting to me either but no wonder looking at the fish. If it was bassed on someone then wow, wonder what persuaded him?

On the maturity level, I say you made a good choice, since Seaman is demanding on time when you play it, and if you miss a few days, Seaman will die.

Personally, I love the game. It was a birthday present from (somebody back in 2000?) I don't exactly remember. Could have been 2001, whenever it came out in America.. Anyway, I really got a kick out of it, ecepr when it thought I said I was from Texas, which is untrue, but aside from that the conversations, and his interpretations was very amusing... to the point that the upstairs neighbors though I was going mad cos they'd hear two voices while knowing I lived alone, and never had guests.. (I like my privacy.. and I didn't want my Dreamcast to turn from White to Nicotine Yellow) But all in all Seaman was a great game, and a permanent (sp?) part of my collection.

Yes, it was time demanding and sometimes seaman wouldn't understand what I was saying and I would yell at it. And on the mature level, I kind of mean the questions he asks you and the things he sometimes says are somewhat innappropriate for children to hear. I especially find the "mating sequences" really bizzare.

I have to admit: I've never played Seaman, but I have seen a review of it.

This sums it all up for me:

If I were to have played the game and put some effort into it, it would probably be a good game in my opinion. It's like Animal Crossing, but with human-headed fish.

Or it's nothing like Animal Crossing... at all.

This video and others by the same guys always make me laugh:

Heres a tip for anyone who may have this game and its microphone. Once Seaman grows mature enough that "it" stops speaking baby talk, you can tell it a certain expletive that begins with the letter "S" and it will perform a somewhat unexpected action, as if what you said was a command. The horrifying bit is in the details. Watch where it comes from, and you may want to duck...

I had trouble figuring out how to play the game at first too :P It takes some patience or time skipping :P

I love it. I almost always start a new Seaman everytime I finish it. Some fine wisdom in him.

Hmm, I could only deal with that weirdness once, lol.
