Does the official Sega card enable import games like the action replay?

i think thats just for game saves, so the action replay card is the best option for importing (next to having a japanese saturn like myself^_^ )

No, the Sega Saturn Memory Card (Sega brand) does NOT enable import games.

Action Reply Plus (make sure it says plus) is the best way to go. It's 5-in-1 thing. Memory Card, import player, Action replay, 1 MB Ram and 4 MB Ram. So you can play games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

I'm actually missing a memory Card for the SEGA Saturn because I find it too boring to play DAYTONA USA Championship Circuit Edition, Manx TT Super Bike and Sega Rally Championship. Where can I find a memory card?

With tons of luck you may be able to find one at sites like ebay.

I got mine off of eBay for under £5 (forget how much exactly now). It shouldn't be too hard to get one off of there.

You were damn lucky. I searched there for months and didn't found one that costed less than £30.

The important thing to note about the Sega brand memory card is that you can save directly to it during games. The Action Replay, while helpful with all its other functions, cannot be saved to during gameplay. Instead, you need to save to the Saturn and then transfer over. Considering the fragility of that small little internal battery, it's often scary (and not to mention tedious) having to go into the system to transfer save states.

What a good job Sega did with the memory capacity of those things, though. Makes the PlayStation cards look like child's play by comparison. I have dozens of saves on there for big games, and I'm still nowhere near filling it up!

Also keep an eye out for ST-Keys. They look like a memory card but are specifically designed to simply allow play of Japanese Saturn games. I think the one that I have is an Ultra Madness ST Key 2.0.

I want one of the 4-in-1Memory Cards, but the ones that I've seen are so expensive. Actually, I'd like to get a regular one for the the save function.

I have dozens of saves on there for big games, and I'm still nowhere near filling it up!It must also be said that there is an import alternative to the Action Replay backup, and that is the SEGA Saturn Zip Drive (there is information for it on Segagaga Domain). Although it does support direct saving for a selection of games, including Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun, the major draw for buying one is that it can act as a huge backup for save files. This is wonderful, especially seeing as you might be playing Panzer Dragoon Saga and other RPGs a lot, and it just about blows the top off anything on the PlayStation and the N64 in terms of storage capacity.

Aside from that, yes, the SEGA brand memory cartridges are the ones to go with, though they are rather rare to come by. The sheer amount of storage they hold is great enough but, in conjunction with the Zip Drive, it can basically keep amazingly long-term backups of cherished save files. It would go great with Shining Force 3.

I would recommend trying to find a memory transfer unit, I remember seeing one a while ago online, it would transfer from memory card to PC to memory card, that way you could bypass the saving to the system. I'd look for one if I were you.

To the wise people: I've heard that 3rd party import/memory cards butcher the insides of your cart slot, is there any truth in this?
