<td>Welcome to Novembers rather late (...again, ...again sorry!) game the month.
This month it's the excellent Sonic Jam for Sega Saturn, released in 1997. Click Here (http://www.radiosega.net/gotm.php) to read the feature, and check out the gameplay video and more! Also a special thanks to ResidentSD for writing the feature for me!
Did you ever play Sonic Jam? Were you impressed by the Sonic World which never sadly became the Sonic title the Saturn really needed? Did you like it and what are your memories, and do you still play it? Discuss this month's Game of the Month here!</td></tr></table>
(I'll make sure Decembers is on time, I'll add it this week actually, so it's ready, once I decide what it shall be. :))

Sorry people, it was my fault that it's late. I hope you like it was worth the wait!

Sadly to this day, I've never played Sonic Jam. Initially when I heard of the title, I thought of it nothing more than another compilation disc. Being less than impressed with some of the PC compilations, I never gave it much though. After reading about it over the years, my interest in this title has grown. A few things that have peaked my interest:
Sonic World... Exclusive to this game
Remastered and uncut animation sequences from Sonic CD
Redesigned games to add a "difficulty" option
Spin dash in Sonic 1
Bugs fixed and created (looping music issue?)
Wrong invincibility song for Sonic 2 (uses Sonic 1 invincibility song)After seeing the disaster of the emulation quality in the Dreamcast title Sega Smash Pack: Volume 1 (http://www.radiosega.net/forum/showthread.php?t=523), hopefully they did a better job. Seeing that the Saturn is pre-Dreamcast, I would suspect there is a likeliness of emulation issues, but who knows. It could be an easier architecture to write a Genesis emulator for, or maybe with as many changes as they made, they actually did this as a Saturn port rather than emulating the Genesis version. Either way, I look forward to trying this game at some point in time if for nothing else to see a piece of Sonic history I've never seen before. -_-

The games are spot on, there are no issues at all. Some sounds sound a little off (mostly sound effects), but in no way bad. The gameplay video towards the end shows the special stage from Sonic 3 being played.

Yes I noticed the sound issues but other than that, this is an awesome game. The 3D side was quite good but wasn't much in terms of excitement because of the small area. I like how you could watch old TV adverts and such in the various buildings.

Ah, I missed the video on the article page. :) That was quite refreshing to see some of Sonic Jam's game footage. Yeah the sound wasn't perfect, but its years better than what we heard in the Smash Pack. I've updated my wish list (http://www.radiosega.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7090#post7090) with Sonic Jam now. ;)

Sonic Jam is the best Sonic compilation I've ever played. I really enjoyed playing it. Sonic World is very cool ... I spent many hours in it, checking the houses and trying to complete the "missions". Never noticed the sound issues and the features they added to the games. I got hooked on time attack mode. I can't you tell how many times I played Green Hill Zone trying to get my record below 35 sec. Anyway ... it's a game worth having and since my copy got badly damaged, I'll have to try to get another one.
I love this game. Best Saturn game ever! I spent hours running around Sonic World just playing and watching all the videos, I fell asleep at my Saturn night after night from staying up so late playing it. Ah the mornings I woke up to it's gentle music. And the quality of the emulation of the older games is great. Sonic Jam couldn't be any better and I still own it. I just have to hook up my Saturn. A must have for any Sonic fan.

I've pumped so many hours into this game over the last decade it's not even funny. All the extras added to the classic games really makes it the definitive versions of those games. A real shame it doesn't look like they'll ever put these enhanced versions out again. Time attack modes for each game alone makes this a must have.
I haven't got the game either, even though I've been meaning to buy it for ages... I must say I like the optional extras and the graphics in the Sonic world are fantastic (for it's age), none of that bendy-shakey texture crap you get on PS1 games!
Have spent quite a few hours on this one! Loved exploring the Sonic Jam "world". Although that part wan't so deep it was great fun! And watching the intro video of Sonic CD also had be get back to that game again:) The compilation is a must for Sonic fans!
Um, I had the version for the game.com handheld console. Actually, I don't even think it was another version, it just shared the name, since all it had was one game. Yeah, definitely, no way that thing could handle something as delicious as JAM with its 3D world. The worst part of the game on that system was the fact that if you just ran into the side of upward pointing spikes you were hurt, which makes no sense since you're not hitting the sharp part. Then there was the fact that Sonic ran like he was on hills of butter.....this version was def not jammin', but hopefully I'll get a Saturn soon!

I had to re-read that one. Then the answer became obvious to me. It was easier to program that way. Yech...

Man that so gives me the giggles!!! I want my hacked ROM of "Sonic & the Hills of Butter". It goes great with "Sonic Jam". :P
zomg, Rofls 'n' such. Wow, that gave me some laughs as well. Maybe I could get a video up on here of the pitifulness that is Sonic JAM of game.com infamy... ^_^
