I know it's from a Nintendo magazine but I cannot help but think it's NiGHTS.

Could be Kirby but hes already had a DS game and another one coming up... Starfi? What issue is this Mark?

NiGHTS into Dreams...

I think it's NiGHTS. Those lights look like eyes, and they look a bit like NiGHTS's eyes. I don't believe it's Galaxy, since there's not much exclusive stuff they could report about on a game that's already been announced. Plus, Galaxy's NOT a classic, it's NOT overdue, and I don't believe that anything Mario would be "stepping back in time."

NiGHTS meets all of the above criteria, and it's been heavily rumored for the past year or so. This, along with Famitsu and the SEGA.com poll, are almost exactly what St. Peter predicted in the book of Revelations. Yay for the apocalypse!

SM64 WAS a classic, before Nintendo started whoring Mario out to every genre, system, and developer they have.

Square Enix, no matter how good they are, should not make a BASKETBALL GAME.

Mufasa

SM64 WAS a classic, before Nintendo started whoring Mario out to every genre, system, and developer they have.

And since you have to go back to SM64 to find a classic before all the whoring... Mario Galaxy could very well be his return to a proper Mario game.

Square Enix, no matter how good they are, should not make a BASKETBALL GAME.

Amen! :)

NiGHTS into Dreams...
15-03-2007, 02:35
There have been decent Mario games since 64. New SMB was awesome! Plus, Nintendo is convinced that Sunshine was good.

As a response to the other statement, Nintendo is also proud of Mario and his whoring, so a statement contradictory to their attitude for the past, oh, I don't know, 20 years, would be rather odd.

NiGHTS into Dreams...
15-03-2007, 02:57
It's not Nintendo Power, it's The Official Nintendo Magazine. It's a British publication from Nintendo.

I'm not sure what that constellation is....Maybe NiGHTS?!?

Clockwork edge
15-03-2007, 03:19
It'd be great if it does turn out to be NiGHTS but I don't think it is, I don't think a Official Nintendo mag would get too excited about it.

although nintendo seems like a saint at the moment they are too guilty of milking frachises to screw unsuspecting people out of cash:lol:

This does remind me... Sure wish there was a Game Boy Player (http://www.nintendo.com/gbplayergcn) to play DS games on the Wii/Game Cube. I'd love to play Sonic Rush on a big screen with a wireless controller.

I'm just glad Sonic hasn't been the star of a ton of sports games... ;)

Yeah, Sonic may have had some shit games, but then of course so has Mario.

Mario Party 4-8, Mario Baseball, Mario Super Striker, Mario Golf, Mario takes a shit e.t.c...

Mufasa
15-03-2007, 19:53
Mario Party 4-8

At least Sonic has kept it down to 1 sucky "party" game. I hope they just do a real good job on a Wii version of Mario Party and hold off for a while--like maybe their next console.

Mario Super Striker

I liked that game, however, its another classic example of a game being rushed. There is so much lacking on playable character wise... And whats up with the robots of "Super Team"? I feel like they were placeholders while developing that turned into a team...

Mario takes a shit e.t.c...

Ah yeah... Wasn't that a code in Luigi's Mansion that changed the game color scheme from green to brown... LOL

Mufasa
17-03-2007, 01:59
I cannot believe that that picture could be anything but a NiGHTS teaser.

There's enough evidence...
The amazingly coincidental Sega.com asking about a game/character that you want to come back having NiGHTS on the poll.
This teaser ad that can be overlayed with a NiGHTS image
NiGHTS is a character long overdue for a new game
By the nature of the NiGHTS game, it would be ideal for the Nintendo Wii controller. Its only logical it would be a Wii exclusive title like Sonic and The Secret Rings
The teaser may be of a starry NiGHTS scene, not a galaxy.
This (http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/753/753174p1.html)...Oh and this is kinda fun, but fake...

Well I hope they put something on Sega.com by the time any magazine gets to review the game and releases an issue with the review. It would seem silly otherwise. At least dropping it on their game releases page (http://www.sega.com/games/allgames.php?id=hp_topnav&lid=allgames&lpos=tnav_strip&).

I believe there's no doubt that it's NiGHTS, it's just whether it's a sequel, remake, or VC. I personally just want a Remake with better graphics and controls. Sonic and the Secret Rings was amazing, and I can very easily see SEGA making NiGHTS one of, if not the most beautiful game on Wii.

So can you link the site you got this from? I'd love to go translating the article. ;)

Edit: OK I am guessing you got this from here (http://gonintendo.com/?p=15162). Darn, no scans of the article yet.

NiGHTS into Dreams...
28-03-2007, 00:45
Well, about that...
It's a link from the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NiGHTS), and it links to gonintendo.com, but it's from the Dutch (?) magazine GameReactor. The image, with NiGHTS grayed out, was posted on their website this morning, but was taken down after they were contacted by SEGA. It confuses me.

The writing at the bottom says: "SEGA's Dream Demon Returns."

Mufasa
28-03-2007, 05:09
The image, with NiGHTS grayed out, was posted on their website this morning, but was taken down after they were contacted by SEGA. It confuses me.

Well the magazine is Swedish and with my attempt at translation of their web page (http://www.gamereactor.se/nyheter/10115/Gamereactor+%2346/) with the magazine cover, it looks like the silhouette version is just temporary.

Here is what I think the article says on the update:

Update:
The cover is now changed, that you perhaps had time to see of NiGHTS and we revealed the first details on dream demon even in our new issue. But Sega did not want us to show the cover yet and therefore you will have to wait a few until the newspaper is up in the shops before the cover is put up here on our site again. Until then, you have to be happy with the silhouette…Interesting... I wonder if Nintendo called Sega asking what was up with someone else blowing their exclusive story. ;)

Tails_1986

Maybe ... Who cares? Nights is back.

NiGHTS into Dreams...
30-03-2007, 00:45
Well, I think that this is a lot more interesting than the ONM article, only for the fact that if they have an image of NiGHTS' new "bullfighter"
costume, they probably have more image, perhaps screenshots.

On the other hand, ONM made a much bigger deal about theirs than GameReactor did, so they could have more info.

It makes my brain hurt...

Dr. Ivo Robotnik
30-03-2007, 00:47
I wonder how the stroyline will turn out.....hopefully better than the one that made no sense at all for NiGHTS....

NiGHTS into Dreams...
30-03-2007, 01:11
No Yuji Naka + Full Sequel + Modern-day SEGA = No. The story will make no sense.

Btw, the story for NiGHTS made perfect sense.

Wizeman the Wicked, the evil sorcerer and ruler of the land of Nightmare, (Where all our Nightmares are played out.) amasses an army of Nightmaren, (the evil denizens of Nightmare) so that he may conquer Nightopia (the world of happy dreams). Wizeman creates several higher-rank Nightmaren such as Jackle, Gillwing, Reala, and NiGHTS, an androgynous flying acrobat. NiGHTS, who doesn't enjoy being bossed around by Wizeman, revolts, and is punished by being trapped in the Ideya Palace. Meanwhile, two unrelated children are about to meet...

Claris Sinclair is preparing for her audition for the new play, "Twin Dreams" a play made to celebrate the bicentennial of her home town, Twin Seeds. Claris, although she has a beautiful voice, is overcome with fear of what the judges will think of her performance. The night before the auditions, Claris dreams about the upcoming day and what it will bring. Suddenly, just as she begins to sing, the judges appear as howling nightmares, and Claris seeks sanctuary in the land of Nightopia, where she finds the imprisoned NiGHTS...

Elsewhere in Twin Seeds, Elliot Edwards is playing basketball with his friends. Elliot is the best player on his team, and is virtually unmatched. A group of newcomers come, and challenge Elliot's team to a match on the following day. They agree, and Elliot is afraid that the other team's leader is better than him. He dreams of the following day, as Claris does, and also sees the terrible Nightmares. Seeking refuge in Nightopia, Elliot finds NiGHTS trapped...

As they slumber, Wizeman is slowly and constantly gaining power, and will soon not only conquer Nightopia, but the world of reality as well. In a panic, a single Nightopian escapes the world of dreams and awakes Elliot and Claris, telling them of Wizeman's plans. He also tels them that only they have the mystical red Ideya of Courage. The Ideya, as the Pian explains, are mystical orbs that represent the separate spectrums of personality and feeling. NiGHTS is attracted to the red Ideya, and only it can allow NiGHTS to escape it from the Ideya palace. Elliot and Claris, only a few hours prior afraid of their
own personal problems, are filled with courage and joy at the description of their task, and accept. With the aid of NiGHTS, with whom they can fuse, they fly through the lands of Nightopia to recover the missing Ideya and save the land of dreams...

After their showdown with the evil Wizeman, Elliot and Claris meet for the first time. Elliot stumbles upon Claris asleep in one of the worlds of Nightopia, but only sees her for a minute before he awakens to the new day. Elliot, with the help of the lessons learned through his adventures with NiGHTS, finds the courage to defeat the other team and earn their respect. After the bicentennial parade, Elliot stumbles upon the theater where the play, "Twin Dreams" is being performed. Elliot, in a vision of NiGHTS, is reminded of the girl he met in his dreams, and he enters. Claris is inside, and the two finally meet.

The end. (Sorry for the long post, but I'm tired of hearing about the story being stupid. IT'S NOT STUPID.)

Mufasa
30-03-2007, 01:19
Well stupid or not if it took that much to give the story, it must at least be complicated or long.

And guess Fortune City didn't like your hot linking. If you refresh the images in your post will turn into Fortune City images.

NiGHTS into Dreams...
30-03-2007, 02:04
Well, if you want it in a nutshell, "There's an evil wizard, a flying acrobat and two kids that fall in love."

I just think it deserves more than that.

When my great-grandmother died (She raised me like a son) NiGHTS kept me from getting too sad. If you take it as a simple game, it's not much, but it you embrace it and take it as more than a game, it is a beautiful, inspiring representation of dreams.

What do you think of the masks idea?
Nightopia is being over-run by the so-called Nightmarens, and it's up to NiGHTS to make the most of his acrobatic skills, his freedom of flight and the special abilities he obtains via shape-shifting masks to save his world.

Well when I first saw this post, I thought--masks... Hmmm, I guess NiGHTS is going to kinda be like MegaMan, but with a mask on his face and a possible outfit change. Interesting. Then I read the "shape-shifting" part... Then I thought Yoshi's Island.

For me, it all depends on what masks and how NiGHTS shifts shapes whether I find it to be cool or just another character enhancement gimmick.

That was pretty neat. So far I see no signs of Claris & Elliot. To me, I welcome an all NiGHTS game (but recall somewhere saying Claris & Elliot were going to be in the sequel). Suposedly the August issue of Edge magazine confirms the presence of Claris and Elliot in the game. Anyone can confirm that? Also Reala has been confirmed in the game and NiGHTS will have voice. Now, I hope they choose it (the voice) well, or it will ruin most of the charisma the character has.

I think they'll use the girl that voices Amy to voice NiGHTS.

I've heard of the delay, but Gamespot still lists its launch date to the end of 2007 for most territories. Even if they delay the game, I think they won't push it beyond March or April 2008.

Just Wii. Pre-rendered scenes look good on any console. ;)

Looks like the game is shaping up pretty nicely. It looks surprisingly simillar to the original and since I haven't enjoyed the original too too much, it'll feel very fresh to me.

Well, when you think of it, we're just lucky that there's going to be a sequel. Besides, sometimes a delay is a good think. Especially if they don't want to rush things like they did with Sonic Next Gen. I hope they make this a memorable game like the original.

Fortunately for her, the NiGHTS demo is quite enchanting, beautifully realised and delicately scored. With any luck, the rest of the game will promote one of SEGA's forgotten legends into contemporary success.

Yeah totally agree. I do still have high hopes with the whole WI-FI vs and the Weather Channel, we could see excellent seasonal updates like the original Christmas NiGHTS.

I agree, but I think that they exchanged the Ideyas for the keys in the bird. Up until now both "Neo Spring Valley" and "Neo Splash Garden" showed the bird. As for the bosses they showed a new Puffy, a new Gulpo and Reala, so I hope the others will appear as well ... the number of levels ... apparently they will be seven. And the A-Life system was confirmed to return.

The A-Life system in the original NiGHTS had an effect on the music of each stage (the tone changed with the Nightopians mode) and had the "final intent" of "creating" a King Pian. Other than that was an earlier version of the Chao breeding in the Sonic Adventure series. This is my opinion, but honestly I still don't understand it very well ... but it's so nice to have a level populated by Mepians (a mix of Nightopians and Nightmarens).

More info on the A-Life system (sort of...). Players will be able to trade pians and/or items using the Wii WiFi capabilities. Now ... does this mean that the A-Life system will reasemble more the Chao Garden from SA2?
... And we'll have to use the kids to find the different Persona Masks.

Man, I have to say the game is beautiful. Like I said via PM, if this fails, I'm commiting suicide. The game so far, as in detail, is way better than many wii games (duh), and the music from the trialer is incredible. I wonder how the rest will be.

I was pretty unsure about how it would play, but I watched the Alps Chase footage, and I'm pretty certain it's going to be good. Apparently, the Nunchuk play is just like the Saturn original, so that's good.

Well you have now :)

I live in Japan at the mo so I went to TGS. It was much better than last year.

Anyhoo, about Nights - the stand for it had a queue no less than 2 hours long. I waited patiently though, I was a huge fan of the original.

The demos they had didn't use any kind of Wii motion control tomfoolery - just the stick and the A button on the pad, for movement and drill dashing respectively.

Overall, it was essentially the same game. There has been a major cosmetic overhaul, along with the game camera shifting to about 20 degrees or so behind Nights, to take advantage of the longer draw distance - there is also no "ground in the sky" like the original. This is both good and bad; it certainly looks superb but the longer draw distance actually makes the course harder, as you can see what's coming far up ahead, and might fly up or down to hit a ring, only for the course to change before you get there.

Also, in the demo I played, it didn't use the "blue chips" system of Nights Into Dreams - I mean the chips were there, but on the course you were chasing a bird carrying a key, which you used to free the Ideya. There was also no bonus time. There were also only 3 courses on the level, which was a bit like Splash Garden, including a "behind Nights" bit like in the original. Nights morphs into a dolphin if you fly underwater in the normal flight view, presumably a homage.

The boss was Puffy, and it was just like in the original, though a bit more elaborate, like a giant ornate pinball machine (Sonic Team, natch). I saw other people against what looked a bit like Gillwing too.

I also got a really nice black cloth bag, with a print of Nights on the front and the game logo on the back. Ace :)

Don't worry though about the lack of bonus time - from my experience at this kind of thing, I could tell for certain that this demo was really specifically made for TGS - so it won't be totally indicative of the final product.

Well either way, if it keeps the game from going out with bugs and issues like we saw in Sonic '06, I think everyone will be willing to wait. For many, this will be their introduction into the NiGHTS franchise and its always a good idea to make a good first impression. ;)

Does make me wonder though... Assuming success for NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, would there be a sequel after it? On Nintendo's next console system or on the Wii again? Slowly but surely, the lower quality graphics on Wii games is becoming more and more noticeable after transitioning from playing the 360 or PS3.

If the delay is true, then of course I’m disappointed but at the same time I can wait for it. I mean it shows that SEGA is taking care of this by giving it an extra spit & polish so that the game is going to be a AAA title. Though some people might be saying that there is development problems I have to say that I think that those are a little untrue. So far the game has been previewed by lots of different magazines and so far all the preview reports have been positive, Retro Gamer magazine said that fans can rest easy and Games TM said the preview they played said that SEGA has little to worry about, so after all that I think we can rest easy as I think SEGA will do a good job, delay or no delay.

Hmmm, NiGHTS delay doesn't sound that a really bad thing. Already there were reviewers that had a hands on and said nothing be great things for this game. So if they can make it even more awesome. Then I'm all for it.

What if the delay is to make the "My Dream" Garden look better then it does now, because right now it's kind of bland.

Actually you know what would be funny? If they're delaying it because of SMG. Sega looks at that and says "We're so not letting Nintendo get the upper hand with that. We're going to make it just as pretty if not more so." Which I wouldn't mind as well.

Tails_1986

If they use the delay to improve the game it's fine by me. Like Mufasa said this game will be the first introduction to the NiGHTS franchise to some. As for me I just want it to live up to the original ... and it appears to be heading that way.

This game appears to need a delay badly. I do hope they put some effort in and make this as good as they possibly can as it would be needless to rush it out the door just to meet an artificial date. I'd wait another six months if I was guaranteed to get a worthy sequel to the original. They can at least fix the frame rate issues with the time they've added on, although Sonic Team USA have often proved that they're not the type to perfect a game before they release it =/

Anyway, here's hoping they can do a good job of it. It has been over a decade in the waiting, after all..

The Wii Cast has done a review on it and he says.

Pros
Old school flavor
Good replay value
Multiple control options

Cons
Story is strictly for babies
Poor graphics
Not enough substance

On top of that he says its better to rent it and definitely not worth a purchase.

From what I heard of the music in videos I have to say its quite nice.

As for magazine reviews my guess is Games TM will give the game a 7/10 and as for EDGE since they are hard to please they will either give the same score or a 6/10 or 5/10:ohmy:

Either way from what I've read on the reviews so far its not all bad.

Nah, 7/10's fairly decent actually. Admittedly, it could be better, but I'll happily buy a game that's given 7/10. Hell, because it's NiGHTS, I'd buy it if it slipped into the 5s/6s. 4 could be pushing it a bit though.

Well, in America it only came out last week, so I think it's a bit early to be looking at sales figures.

They'll probably get released towards the back end of this week, but I'll keep an eye out regardless and let you all know how well it did, if nobody else does first.

Oh, and it's apparently due out in the UK on January 25th. Same day as Burnout Paradise. :(

Luckily mine came through the post yesterday but I waited until Christmas Day to play it. Ignore the reviews, what I've played of it so far seems brilliant!

Graphically at first I thought it looked a bit naff in the cut scenes, but once you get playing, it looks great! Full wide screen support in 480p at 30FPS.

The music is fantastic, it's classic SEGA and one of the best parts of the game.

There are a few other game play modes that take some getting used to but there's still some classic NiGHTS game play in there too. I can't get on with the Wii controls so I'm using the good old Wavebird pad (yes, you can use it). ^_^

I think the bad reviews put me off this game, so when I actually got round to playing it I was pleasantly surprised.

So far so good, I hope it stays that way. :)

Like I've said a thousand and one times, don't ever trust reviews. Do your own research on the game in question. If you absolutely have to, rent it first.

In a game like NiGHTS what's important is the replay value. I usually finish the original in under an hour, but it's kept me entertained for 11 years. About the game being easy ... How many A's your friend have so far?

So I've been playing the game. It's great. The story isn't going to win any kind of award. But it's awesome to see and hear Wizeman and Reala. They're both quite awesome.

Also they're are these dream drops that you'd have to collect if you wanted too. So that's adding replay. Haven't tried it online yet. The controls are really sensitive, which doesn't make it unplayable just harder to play.

Some people modded their nunchucks specifically for NiGHTS. They sanded the opening where the control stick comes out and made it round rather than square sided so that they can control Nights better.

Since you can now freely move the control stick in circular motions, it wont pop around on the square edges and keep tilting Nights up and down.

Just found out that EDGE Magazine has given the game a 6/10 score.

Not bad I guess but at least its not anything lower as EDGE can be a bit harsh when it comes to reviews, I mean they gave Sonic Rush Adventure a 5/10 I mean whats up with that:blink:. I want to know what Games TM will be giving the game, as I like their reviews better as they seem more honest and less series then EDGE’s. Even if they did give Sonic Rush Adventure a 5/10 as well.

Well I finally got a chance to rent NiGHTS for the Wii. I'm pretty impressed. Since I didn't have the long past with the original, but became familiar with the original well before NiGHTS for the Wii was announced, I think I end up with a more positive feeling that most. The original (the game itself) left me without any sense of why you were doing what you were doing. The new NiGHTS game puts it all together and updates the graphics and music in a way I consider to be pretty fair to the original.

Now on the topic quality..... One thing totally thew me off guard on my first NiGHTS game session. After beating the first Eliot level, I quit to the main menu and went into two player. Just as I was jamming to the music they had there flipping back and forth between the two menu options...

http://www.radiosega.net/images/posts/388051714.jpg

I'm guessing this is the Wii equivalent of a "Blue Screen of Death". Anybody else experience this on NiGHTS as well? The disc I have was in perfect condition so it leads me to believe the problem is a bug that only shows itself after performing certain operations and possibly in my network configuration. Either way, I hope it hasn't happened to anybody else. Last thing I want to hear is Sega is not only rushing games, but the games aren't stable anymore as you usually can at least count on that from Sega. -_-

OK we won't take that seriously... There is no Microsoft Windows any edition on the Wii...

Maybe it was a bad copy? Or maybe the Wii is dying.

I mentioned the quality of the disc as good as I don't think it was a bad copy. I don't think its my Wii either as it plays all other games fine without crashing. I think its more likely a testament of Sega's failure to test the game (a game bug) rather than a side effect of the physical media/hardware. I returned the game today and will be buying a brand new copy in the future. I'll re-test then.

So I went out and bought it the day it came out. I played it to my hearts content, but there was one problem... I didn't quite feel the magic that was the original. I don't know what it was, it had the music, the in-your-face brightness, but I jusgt couldn't feel it. It is a good game, but not groundbreaking. Am I weird for thinking this? Let me know.

I believe those kind of "souvernirs" are just randomly awarded to you. After beating a few bosses you'll get some objects. I found out later that when you lose a few times in a row against a boss or you die in a level, some of those rewards are deleted. It's just stupid. I hated "My Dream". Well, since I am a NiGHTS Fan since 2003 (Pinball Party), I decided to look in some old games until I find SA1 and SA2 for CG, but not the Saturn...

I was so excited that I was going to play a classic in the Wii, I thinked that with it, I will finally understand what everyone say about the purple nightmaren...and, for me... it did!

I even cried in the real ending, also in for the second half of Bellbridge, I even feel the air....

I am not saying that this NiGHTS is better, but it's because I haven't played the original, so for me, it is a Sonic Team Classic, and I hope SEGA doesn't get the idea for "Reala The Nightmaren", "NiGHTS Riders" or "NiGHTS Dreamers"...

I may undergo buying a better(most likely third-party) Gamecube controller. I was really surprised that Nintendoused the same stupid octagonal bordering around the analog stick for the nunchuk on the Wii. They did the same with the original GCN controller and the Wavebird.

The Saturn's 3D Gamepad was awesome. I'd like something like that to play NiGHTS with, but oh well. >.<

I bought NiGHTS 2 the day it came out and was so jazzed to play it, since the first is, to steal a line from SONIC R, my "Number One". I've played NiGHTS more than any other game, and while I knew the game play just wouldn't compare to the Saturn, I was at least looking forward to a larger environment and the same dreamy splendor. In that regard the game delivered, but unfortunately I found it near unplayable. Using the motion sensor was terrible, but trying to play it traditionally wasn't much better since I just could not keep my grip on the controller. Whether I used the nunchuck or the Gamecube controller, my thumb would always slip off the stick. The Saturn pad was so good because it was grooved inwards, so you could get your thumb planted and keep it there for the entire round. No dice here, and I just couldn't get the control and speed that I could be comfortable with. It was hard to settle for second best when I knew the Saturn game in and out and could get 100 links no problem.

I haven't really played it at all since that initial rush last Christmas, but I'm hoping to one of these days when I get some free time. I just wish the "old" Sega was around to make this...it could have been a masterpiece.

I completely agree with all the points you made. And nice reference too. XP Initially when the game was released, I was feeling all rebellious against reviewers who said the game's controls were terrible, but now I'm slowly easing into their point now that I'm trying to make some rediculous high scores.

My friend has had the original NiGHTS along with the Saturn's 3D gamepad for some time now. I'm really tempted to ask to come over to play it again and give the true masterpiece another go.

(Whoa hey, definitely digging that Cat and Mouse Chu Chu Rocket song you requested! The random song it played before that, Jack Levin from F-Zero GX, was a huge surprise too.)

You own the Wii sequel but not the original? For shame! That's got to be in every Sonic Team fan's collection. I could forgive something rare like Burning Rangers, but when $10 seals the deal for NiGHTS on eBay these days, there's no excuse! Such a masterpiece.

Heh, I'm having fun with this radio thing. Basically I'm searching for familiar soundtracks, and then whenever I see a remix track I add it, since I haven't really heard any of them. The Columns one had way too much reverb, but the Chu Chu was fun. That "Grand Metropolis" remix track you requested was awesome - I need to find a way to get that one permanently!

Well, grolt, I know that not having the original is a shame, and i'm sad because not having it too.

I won't hold it against you. The first step to recovery is admitting you were wrong.

You'll find NiGHTS can end up fetching a good bit more than that on ebay, assuming it comes with the pad.

There's nothing particuarly special about it either, first time I played it, it about made my eyes bleed

Well, it is one of few games that isn't in the 'adventure' genre that has very few enemies to fight. It's about in a league on its own. Yes, most of the stages are timed, so one could argue it's just a different take on the 'action' genre, there still really hasn't been anything like it.

I'm not saying uniqueness or originality make a title great, I just found it loads of fun to play on the Saturn, and to a point find as much fun on the Wii version if not for the terrible hardware that encumbers the controls.
