RUMOUR: SEGA Trying to Erase Shining Force III from History?!

Post by Kaito-kun »

It's a rumour, so I went for an over the top, sensationalist tabloid headline.

Anyway, a Reddit user is claiming that someone at SEGA is actively targeting and removing Youtube videos of (and related to) the Saturn classic Shining Force III. Even going as far as getting some accounts banned.

More can be found at the original post here, linked here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/ ... rs_videos/

Is SEGA getting that bad? Taking rumor of course.

It's... surprising, somewhat absurd too. Removing videos so suddenly and with no apparent reason? Why? I highly doubt that SEGA "itself" is part of this. And if it is, well, wouldn't be the first time to disappoint. =P

This sounds a bit weird to me.
Especially when it comes to such a specific game. If it was multiple SEGA games I might believe this a bit more.

It could be Youtube's auto copyright more info on that here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJoKsQf9 ... r_embedded
Personally I don't think SEGA even knows about this. But it could be true though.

Oh so it could be due to what may be audio copyright, but from another source. If that's the case, why now?

I can tell you as someone close to the situation that the claims are not coming from the automated system. They are coming from someone claiming to work for "sega" (I put it in parentheses because that is exactly how it it written/spelled in the claim, all lowercase letters) and from an @sega email address. So yeah... automatic system isn't doing this... Either Sega is or someone pretending to act on their behalf is. Either way, it sucks EDIT: Also, SEGA knows, they responded to the email, so they are aware of the situation... all that remains now is whether or not they will do something about it...

Pretty sure this person may not ever come back. So he could very well be lying on that front.
