The iPod App Recommendation Thread! X3

Post by Rayne »

At the moment I'm having a gaming love affair with my iPod touch. There's a gaming library of well over 100,000 apps, the most expensive games are usually no more than £10 and far more often than not they're only 50p each.

Some of my top picks of the moment:

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - £2.99
Rayman 2 - 59p
Tom Clancy's Hawx - 59p
Streets of Rage - 59p
Golden Axe - 59p
Pix n' Rush (awesomely retro) - 59p

Hm. I'm going to keep this in here for the time being, but if anybody starts going on about non-gaming Apps, it's getting moved to Off Topic.

Just a lil warning, k? It's in a gaming forum, keep it gaming related ^_^

It would of course be the end of the world if I mentioned the Skype app in here, but okay-o.

Does anyone else actually use one? they're good, honest! All the Sonic and Monkeyball you could want.

I don't have an I-phone, but I do enjoy using the bird song app on my mate's. Found a way to get all the birds of prey of Britan blasting out of it at the same time on full volume. Sounded a bit like that tape they find on Event Horizon of the missing crew going to hell and getting turned inside out. The sparrows at the end of my garden didn't give a shit.
Tic Tac, sir?

I must try that against our local seagulls. They chased a predator hawk out of town

Have you heard of Canabalt? Lovely little game which was created in three days by the same person, so I read somewhere.

You can play it for free on their website too: http://www.canabalt.com/

Peggle's always good fun and there's a great little app called OpenFeint; it offers a new free game every day and it also acts as an iPod/iPad version of PSN/Xbox Live and offers achievements, a profile and friend lists.

Zombie Infection - 59p - It's Resident Evil 5 for the iphone. The controls are shockingly good, the levels are fun to play and the price point is astounding.

Avatar - 59p - It's a bit linear and awkward but the visuals look gorgeous on the retinia display. Lasts a good 3 or 4 hours too.

The hell with OpenFeint, just use Apple's Game Centre. It's not got a huge catalogue of games yet but it's brilliant thus far.

Achieeeeeevements. As if I needed another reason to play Angry Birds
