Is this a proper FF ala VIII
A fake FF ala XIII
Or a horrid MMORPG ala XI?

Lucky! I should have gotten into it!

Wait...No, I forgot to sign up and wasn't sure if my lappy would run it anyway...Ah, nevermind! A mate of mine from college also got into the beta, let me know how it is. ^__^

Free? Haven't heard anything about that but if it's true then it'll instantly become a day one purchase. (The pay monthly thing has always been what I've disliked about MMOs)

I'd rather have a monthly fee MMO where everyone's on level ground than a 'free' one where you basically can't get anywhere without microtransactions -_-

Oh, same here if I'm honest. In an ideal world we'd have a free MMO without microtransations, however, I know I'd be a fool to imagine that happening any time soon.

Isn't Guild Wars free? Fairly sure it was, and to start off with it didn't have microtransactions either.

Guild Wars isn't structured like most MMORPGs, it's more like PSO (which makes PSU's online fee a total joke), and any additional money is made in the store which has useful stuff like special missions which don't really give anyone advantages over anyone else it's just extra stuff to do.

As far as I'm aware FFXIV isn't free, it's also not on the PS3 until 2011 so I literally do not care about it til then.

Um, why do we have two Final Fantasy XIV threads? Anyway, I'm sure you've all heard this news. While I don't disagree with a mechanic for punishing obsessive players surely one hour is pretty damn harsh. Surely something around 4-6 hours would be fairer?
