Music Requests

Sword of SEGA will be playing a wide variety of RPG music, from the classic to the modern, including original in-game tracks, orchestral arrangements and remixes.

Feel free to request a specific track if you're familiar with a series. However, if you pick a track from a game, I will assume you want the original in-game music, rather than the orchestral version, unless otherwise stated. You'll be surprised at how many RPG's have premium orchestral versions as their official soundtrack!

You can post your requests here on RadioSEGA, send them via my Twitter page (@CapnCloudchaser) or within the IRC during a live show.

Oh an RPG show, interesting.

No wait, you class Shenmue as an RPG, credibility lost.

Thanks Reknoc :P

Some of the lines are blurred with certain games, like some of the Wonder Boy games, and I'm not gonna allow games like Guardian Heroes, as it's a beat 'em up with just RPG elements. I count Shenmue because it's an RPG style adventure game with enough RPG elements to make it count for the show.

For example, you gain skills, level them up, explore towns by interacting with NPC's and the story is the major focus of the game, but obviously there is no levelling system, experience, weapons/items. But, for the purposes of this show, it counts enough, and the music is awesome >_>

It's worth debating, although I don't think anyone will object to my inclusion of it!

Neat, but expanding upon Rekky's point, if Shenmue's there then surely Yakuza should be there too?

I can't see why you can't include the Monster Land Wonder Boys (i.e. not the first one). As for Yakuza, ehh...if you're going to include Shenmue you should include Yakuza as well, as the two games play very similarly to each other.

Your call though :)

Uh Yakuza should be on their even if Shenmue isn't. I didn't notice it wasn't since I kind of assumed it was.

To be honest I forgot about the Yakuza series XD

If I include non-RPG games with RPG elements, then that would open it up to Shenmue, Yakuza and Guardian Heroes plus others that I may not have realised yet. But, Shenmue/Yakuza do count as action-adventure, so I suppose they should be removed off the list. I'll take Shenmue off now and debate the inclusion of 'games with heavy RPG elements' later.

There are so many action-adventure games, and other games, that use RPG elements these days though, that I wouldn't exactly be sticking to purer RPG's if I did include them.

Edit: Actually, Yazkua does have levelling, so it probably counts more. Guardian Heroes also has levelling, but it's missing the other elements of an RPG too. Like towns. Not that FF13 had towns.
