Unboxing -Sonic Generations CE (PS3)
Sonic Generations Collectors Edition Unboxing
So Sonic just turned twenty and to celebrate Sonic Team have just launched the new game sonic generations, a new game which visits different levels from sonic's past. Sonic Team also saw it as a great way to steal more of your money by releasing the collectors edition of the game. Which comes with a lot more goodies then the stand alone game. Lets take a look shall we? First off:
The Box
Not much to say really besides it a big white box with both sonic's having a staring contest, and a huge Sonic Generations logo on the lid. Pretty basic and also a little plain. Its also quite big and heavy which makes it a pain to put away if you live in a small house like me. A plastic sleeve that covers the box has the normal information on the game and what is contained within the collectors edition. And also what platform you bought it for (I have the PS3 version)
The Lid Comes off
Everything seems neat and tidy, and simple to put away without damaging the box itself (I know thats an odd thing to bring up but ive had collectors editions that are mega awkward to get back in its original boxing after you take it out)
Contents
To make this part easier for myself. Ill do each item in its own sub category. So first things first.
The Game
I wasn’t going to mention this at first. But I have to mention the awesome 3Dish cover we get. In the picture below it's modern sonic but if you move it slightly it becomes classic sonic. Not great but a nice little touch. The Casino Night DLC is also included as a code within the game.
The Ring
Ill have to admit. I was quite surprised by the ring. When I saw the image for this, it looked quite cheap and tacky. But out of its case its actually pretty heavy, well painted and feels well made, like its actual metal. But I doubt it is. Its also has a unique number (only 12000 of them were made) on it to make you feel special about owning one. I know I do!
Soundtrack/Documentary
I'm glad it came with a soundtrack, after all one of the things that have hardly never been bad about sonic games are the soundtracks (unless its Sonic R or Sonic CD USA). There's a good selection of songs, some of which are questionable, for example the Knuckles Choatix song is Midnight Greenhouse whereas I personally think Door into Summer is a overall better song. Music from the Sonic advance games have not been included as well as Sonic 1 and 2. I have yet to watch the documentary included with the soundtrack but when I do expect an update. The last thing I have to mention about the Soundtrack is the awful way it unfolds, i'm all for cardboard cases but the pop out things that cover the cds are not needed. I cut myself on one trying to unfold it back as it didn’t pop out correctly.
Artbook
Not great but not bad either. Includes an evolution of sonic of the years as well as his friends. Most of the Sonic cast has his or her own page and there is some concept art for certain sonic games included. Some pages worth mentioning (the ones I quite liked) are the soundtrack covers over the years. The last two pages would be awesome poster material (every character from sonic posing in a line) as well. But I doubt that’s ever going to happen.
Note: Nothing inside it you cant find online.
The Statue
The box its in is again plain but the only difference is the 20th sonic anniversary logo on the top. Out the box you can see its well protected to avoid any damage. Getting this protection off can be a pain as you will most likely end up staggering backwards cause you tried to open it to hard (Or if your like me, fall on your backside). The statue itself is well painted. But it feels quite cheap, Both sonic wobble around if you touch them instead of being firmly on there platform and i'm not sure if this is meant to happen but can easily be pulled off there stands as well (according to my brother). They look good if you decide to leave it on your desk but id be careful with it as it looks like it would break easily. As for me. Its staying in its box till I have an extra shelf for my manga and other merchandise i've collected over the years.
To sum up, the price I paid for the collectors edition made it well worth it at £75. But anything more then that and you would feel like you just got ripped off even to the most hardcore of sonic fans due to a very average statue.

As an unboxing review goes that was really well done Gonic. It's just that not everybody is particulary into the boxes/tat that comes with the games, there more into the game itself but go about it the wrong way.
As a side note I would also love a crisp review thread from French bread. Beef Hula hoops are the best flvour Hula hoop.
