Shenmue I/II On XBLA/PSN

Post by richarddavies »

So is anyone excited at the prospect of playing these again?

I can't wait to try these out if they do the ports right.

Here Sega, take my money.
But I also have a feeling that people should have bought this 10 years ago, instead of being overly happy today.

Dreamcast is considered on of the best consoles ever by many. Why did they not buy it 10 years ago?

But still, this makes me very happy.

Me too. I play them from time to time. They never cease to amaze me. That atmosphere these games create is out of this world.

I imagine many might not have owned a Dreamcast 10 years ago. Like me.

I've never played Shenmue. Could someone quickly explain why I should be hyped by the idea of a re-release?

It's a 3D adventure game where you control an android with awkward controls and full of QTE events, occasionally it has a fight based loosely on the Virtua Fighter engine. It's set in 80s Japan though, so that's fun to explore.

That's a pretty accurate description.

But you forgot to mention the academy award winning voice acting and toy collecting.

I always forget about the awful voice acting since I played II the most.

80's Japan? That's when Takeshi's Castle was made! That's me sold then.

Edit: I just watched the video in Richard's post. I see what you mean by the voice acting.
