Post Notifications for Visitor Messages.

Post by Starlight »

Not sure if you guys know this or not, but on some forums, you get a notice when someone posts in your Visitor Message box.

It's hard to know when someone gives you a VM here...would it be possible to have a notice under your user name when you get a message?

Here's an example: Image

The Notifications on the right highlights Burgundy when I have a message.

We are working on it just like the new posts counter on the forums. It is pretty difficult otherwise it would have been implemented already

Fair enough, I hope you manage it! Especially for something as an aspiring programmer such as yourself!

Surely its pretty easy, i implemented one in a SMF forum a while ago & a few other VB forums i use have one built in.

you can build it on the forums pretty easily, but what about the rest of the site? Not all of it runs on the vB engine, you know...

Touche!

Is it worth the hassle though? As the people who'll use the forums are the ones who'll get visitor messages anyway.

no you don't get it. When you are browsing the playlist or the index or any other page except the forums, it is separated from the forums. So it has to be implemented there too. And when you register on the website you actually register on the forums since both use the same login

I think this notification panel should be implemented just on the forums & any other section that ultilize it.

Indeed, it's a forum exclusive implementation anyway.

I have found how to do it... the problem is that I can't align it...
When I do that, I'll upload it
