What Difficulty do you start on when you buy a new game?

Post by Gonic »

I saw Gavvie on twitter recently saying he just beat a game on Easy mode (nothing wrong with this btw)...It got me wondering, when you buy a new game. What difficulty do you start on out of the ones available to you? Personally I always start on Easy mode...because now days they do actually mean easy. Even normal mode feels like an easy mode sometimes. But yeah...how about you guys?

I start on easy or normal usually.
Once I get the hand of it I got to normal and/or hard and sometimes expert.

I usually start on Normal and sometimes on Hard, then I'll pick up and go for the higher difficulties.

It's pretty much the normal difficulty for me. I mean that's how a game should be played first, if there's no lower difficulty right? Higher difficulty also means more replayability, which is always good.

Some hardcore (well, maybe most if not all) gamers start oh the hardest difficulties for the challenge and thrill it brings. At least that is my overly simplistic gist of it.

As for me, I'll start of Normal to get concepts down, a little challenge here and there. I prefer it that way.

That is, for games that actually have a choosing in difficulty.

Normal if it's a brand new game. Hard if it's a sequel to something I've already played like Uncharted or Yakuza.

I only beat EDF2017 on Easy because the difficulty achievements don't stack :P I would've started on Normal, otherwise.

I tend not to jump into Hard modes right from the start, I'm more a Normal person, moving onto harder modes once I've finished the game.

I remember when games wouldn't even let you play all the levels if you played the game on easy, they'd end a few levels before the final and be all "if you want to play the full game play on normal or hard".

Usually normal/medium on a brand new game.
Then raise it once I get going.

General consensus: Normal for first runs; Hard for more challenge later on and/or for sequels?
