Chickaroo Reviews: Ratchet: Deadlocked (PS2 / PS3)

Post by chickaroo1 »

Three games in a row and it was time to switch things up. So they took the best parts of the last two games and made a whole game out of it. The trick is, how to wrap a story around it?

Game: Ratchet: Deadlocked / Ratchet: Gladiator / Ratchet & Clank 4
Systems: PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3
Release Dates: PS2: 10/25/05 (NA), 11/18/05 (EU), 11/23/05 (JP) 11/24/05 (AUS)
PS3: 5/21/13 (NA), 9/25/13 (EU)
Developers: Insomniac Games

The Running Lombax
Story: Ratchet, Clank and the gang on the Starship Phoenix are chilling when suddenly Ratchet, Clank and Al are kidnapped. They end up on a spaceport for a popular TV show on Voxx called Dreadzone where heroes from around the galaxy are forced to fight to the death. Ratchet tries to escape but has no choice but to fight to the death and figure out who is behind this madness.

Happy Dreadzone Everyone!
Gameplay: The gameplay here is a little different this time around. Instead of the usual platforming, it's mostly a third person shooter. When rotating the right analog stick, it rotates Ratchet to where he wants to shoot.
The game consists of missions to do once you open up a new world. It really is the arena missions from the last two games, just extended into a full length game.

Not Much Has Changed
Graphics: It pretty much is the same as the last game. The PS3 version has some glitches in cutscenes.

Okay
Music: It’s okay. Not much to say.

Are The Odds In Our Favor?
Overall: Deadlocked is an okay game. I don’t find it as great as the other games. It’s just a bunch of missions over and over. It gets dull. I’m not a huge fan of this game.
