Chickaroo Reviews - Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)

Post by chickaroo1 »

With a new Nintendo system, there had to be a new Animal Crossing game. And look what we have here: a highly addictive game that provides fun everyday.
Game: Animal Crossing: New Leaf / Animal Forest: Jump Out
Systems: Nintendo 3DS
Release Dates: 11/8/12 (JP), 2/7/13 (KOR), 6/9/13 (NA), 6/14/13 (EU), 6/15/13 (AUS)
Developers: Nintendo EAD Group No. 2 and Monolith Soft
The New Mayor in Town!
Story: At the start of the game, you are on a train leading to somewhere. A cat named Rover sits across from you and asks you questions. Here is where you can name yourself, the town you’re going to, and what your character will end up looking like. Once you enter your town, the secretary of the town (a cute little golden retriever named Isabelle) guides you through your town. Once she explains everything, then you’re set! And off you go on an adventure to run your very own town.
The Never-Ending Addiction
Gameplay: As mentioned in the story section, yes, you are the president of your very own Animal Crossing town since the last few games, you were just a villager. Once you start the game, you live in a tent, but as the game goes on, you can upgrade to a home and expand it.
As time goes on, villagers will move into your town. There are so many that will come through your town. Some will stay and some will want to leave. The more you interact with a villager, the more they might stay and become friends with you.
In addition, I should add about the real-time gameplay. Basically, the game’s date and time is exactly right now (depending on your area). So if it’s 9AM where you live, It’s 9AM in the game. This determines on when shops open and close. And when the club and other stuff opens up.
Not only that, but you have to take care you town by watering flowers and growing them. As well as starting projects for benches, polls and what not.
There is much to do!
Sharp Edges, But Super Clean!
Graphics: What I noticed about 3DS graphics, is that it can look kinda pixelated on the edges of things such as villagers, your character, ect. But the game itself is very colorful and bright.
Hourly Tunes
Music: Every hour, there is a different song. The shopping district has a song that alternates. And every Saturday at Club LOL, K.K. Slider is there, and you can request a song from him and he’ll give you a copy of it to take home.
Music is composed by Manaka Kataoka and Atsuko Asahi.

The Greatest Addiction Ever?

Overall: New Leaf has got to be one of the best Animal Crossing games of all time. Now that you run your own village, you can do whatever you want. And because there’s lots to do, you’ll be busy as hell with this game, checking up on it everyday. It’s fun and addicting.

5/5
