Chickaroo Reviews - Burnout 3: Takedown (PS2)

Post by chickaroo1 »

Not only is it a racing game, you get to crash cars in big explosions too! Every little boy’s dream right?

Game:Burnout 3: Takedown
Systems: PlayStation 2, Xbox
Release Dates: 9/7/04 (NA), 9/10/04 (EU and AUS), 10/14/04 (JP)
Developers: Criterion Games

Sorry - There isn’t a story

Watch Em' Crash and Burn
Gameplay:There are a few modes to start out with. There’s the World Tour in which you get to race around the world in three different regions: USA, Europe and Asia. These events are either racing your opponent to beat the time or to win their car.
Another event is crashing your car into others to cause a huge traffic accident to make as much money as possible. A cool thing you can do after you crash (and this also goes for in the racing) is that you can slow down time to move your crashed car into another car. How cool is that? It’s called Impact Time. After a few seconds, if you cause a lot of crashes, you are granted the ability to make your broken car explode to make the others around break. After a while, the level will round up all the damage you caused. If you beat one of the maximum money amount required, you get either a bronze, silver or gold medal.
There is a lot to do, but mostly crashes and races.

Look at Dem Cars
Graphics:The graphics are pretty good! The cars look nice and shiny, the environments look nice and semi-realistic (in the PS2 era, it would’ve looked realistic). But overall, they’re really nice.

2000’s Punk Rock
Music:Burnout 3’s soundtrack consists of licensed music. And boy is it sweet! (Especially when revisiting the game). You got some songs from Ramones, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and more! And the theme song, “Lazy Generation” by The F-Ups will definitely get stuck in your head easily.

A Fun Time With Crashes?
Overall:Burnout 3 is a really good game. It’s fun, fast paced, and very fun especially if you’re with friends. The soundtrack may bring back some nostalgia from 2004. It’s a grand ol’ time.
