Chickaroo Reviews - Attack of the Friday Monsters! (3DS)

Post by chickaroo1 »

It’s the 1970’s and monsters and heroes do exist! At least according to the children around Tokyo say.Game:Attack of the Friday Monsters! - A Tokyo Tale
Systems: Nintendo 3DS
Release Dates: 3/13/13 (JP), 7/18/13 (NA + EU)
Developers: Level-5
They Are Real Mom, I Saw Them!
Story:The story is set in 1970’s Japan during the era of tokusatsu shows, which were all the rage (shows like Ultraman and Power Rangers are huge examples of this). These heroes and monsters are real and they come out Friday nights and leave footprints. Now the real question is, are they actually real? Especially in the imagination of our hero of this story, Sohta.
So...Where Are They?
Gameplay:Okay so it’s kind of hard to tell what exactly the genre is. You run around town as Sohta. You ask people around to access episodes, which are little quests basically. There are a total of 26 in all. You can talk to kids and adults alike. Throughout the areas, you can collect these different colored orbs. Collect all the orbs in a certain category and you get a monster card. After getting 5 cards, you can enter a card battle with other kids.
The game is pretty short too, since there isn't much to do.
So Kawaii
Graphics:The graphics have the look of an anime series. And the environment looks very nice too.
Very Vacant
Music:This game really doesn't have a soundtrack. But there are some sounds around town, such as a river flowing, cicadas chirping and the sound of your footsteps. It’s pretty empty.
A Roaring Good Time?
Overall:Attack of the Friday Monsters! is an okay game. The game seems to be like a point-and-click adventure esqued game. There isn't much to do in the game and it can be a little boring. But it’s still kinda good.
