NEW REQUESTS RULES - 24/7 Stream

Post by KC »

In recent weeks (mainly after the WinterFest), we've seen an increase in, not only listeners, but requests of music for the 24/7 stream. This has lead to long waiting times for people wanting to listen to their favourite songs on RadioSEGA. 2 hour long (and more) queues have been common at certain times during the day.

To prevent this (to an extent), we have changed the request limits. Effective immediately, here are the changes:
  • Every listener can request 3 songs per 20 minutes.
  • You have to wait 30 minutes before requesting another song from the same game/album.
These can be changed again if we see the need for it. We understand this isn't the ideal solution to the problem, which will take some scripting and the usage of grey matter by our hard-working Web Dev Team. Until then, we hope this allows for a more enjoyable listening experience.

Note: Site messages indicating these new limits may not be updated immediately. Please be patient!

Not exactly a request rule, but since it's related to the requests system/chart, I'm using this thread.

Starting this week, the top 40 chart (the one that is visible on the website) will only update itself after RadioSEGA's Top 40 Countdown airs, at Midnight UK time, every Tuesday. This will avoid spoilers and also (hopefully) prevent manipulation of the week's chart.
Eg: If you look at it now (12th May), it's showing the Top 40 of 3rd May-10th May. Only on the 19th May at Midnight will it be updated to show the top 40 requests made on the week of 10th May-17th May (current week).

Hello again! I guess 2015 was the year of request rules.
This time I'm here to announce some rules that, while a bit more restrictive, will hopefully help us solve some of the problems our listeners complained about. Don't expect a perfect solution, though.

Starting today, the following rules are in place:
  • Users can now request 2 tracks per 30 minutes.
  • Users have to wait 30 minutes before requesting another song from the same game/album.
  • Users have to wait 12 hours before requesting the same song again.
Hopefully this will bring some much needed variety to the stream. Thanks for your patience!

Hello, everyone! After a few months, we're ready to lighten up the rules a bit. In light of the debut of our brand new "The Chart Toppin' Show", we thought we'd give you a bit more requesting freedom. Enjoy!

Starting today, the following rules are in place:
  • Users can now request 3 tracks per 20 minutes.
  • Users have to wait 30 minutes before requesting another song from the same game/album.
  • Users have to wait 12 hours before requesting the same song again.
As this new show airs on Tuesdays, the requests chart on the website will now get updated after it airs at midnight UK/Western Europe time (Tuesday to Wednesday). The chart will also count requests made from Monday to Sunday (eg. for last week: Monday, 4th July at midnight UK/Western Europe to Monday, 11th July at midnight UK/Western Europe).
