[Unofficial] Project Dream, Dreamcast 2.

Post by Quills on Wheels »

So some very interesting fairly recent news. I'd put this in videogame news but I think this is rather big enough to have its own thread.
I'm bad at explaining so I'll leave these four links here.

Honestly I don't get a lot of it. Maybe I have to reread it. There seems to have been some petition. And now something big's going to get announced in less than 10 days. Is Sega getting back into the console market? And did I read something along the lines of a World Wide Sega theme park? They also seem to want their "real" fans back?

Maybe someone else will get it more than I do. This just all seems a bit too sudden to be true. Sega hadn't been doing too great with profits to all of a sudden think about getting back into the console market or a theme park... This feels kind of like an early April fools joke.

Kind of waiting for one of you to say "Oh silly Quills. That's a joke pulled by one of the fans. You fell for it".

The odds of 2015 SEGA going back into the videogames hardware market is so astronomically low it's nearly comical.

A Steam box sounds interesting, but it would have to be licensed/built by Sega for them to really make a comeback. Its a smart idea, though. Steamboxes seem to be flooding the market like mad, so I also hope they can get a share of it. Who knows what could happen if this takes off?
Collection; Neo Geo CD, JVC X'Eye, Model 1 Genesis, Model 2 Genesis, 2 Japanese Saturns, 2 Game Gears in a few thousand pieces, 5 or 8 PS1s (don't judge), 1 PS1 DTL (TOOL, NOT a Yaroze), 1 Gamecube, 1 Wii, 1 Xbox 360, 2 Gameboy Advances, 1 3DS, 1 PS2 TEST that WORKS!!!

Do I have a console addiction?

As I posted on Facebook:

Folks talking about Dreamcast 2:
- No corporation would design a website so obnoxious.
- Domain is registered to a residential address in Tennessee.
- Domain's contact is a hotmail address.
- From what I can tell via google searching, SEGA has no presence in Tennessee.
- The obnoxious background video comes from the YouTube account 85Glitchmaster (from looking at the website source) which appears to be a SEGA fan, more specifically Shenmue

Now, I'm not saying this is all an elaborate troll / fake release attempt, but the evidence certainly points to yes.
