[RS10th] RadioSEGA Classics - Suggestions

Post by KC »

Hello all! Welcome to 2016, the year of RadioSEGA's 10th anniversary!
We've got some great things lined up for you guys in the coming months, especially for March, when we turn 10 as a whole (on the 21st) and our LiVE shows turn 6 (on the 12th).

During the WinterFest, I thought one of those ways of celebrating would be to put together a list of the most memorable tracks we've played during the past 10 years. Not all of you are here since the beginning, so we're especially calling out to the "old timers", but even if you've been with us for only a year or two, you can help.

How? We're asking people to suggest, using this thread, the most memorable tracks played on RS these past 10 years. Some of them are obvious choices like our Songs of 2010-2013, Daytona USA's "Let's Go Away", Jet Set Radio Future's "Aisle 10" or even Metropolis Street Racer's "Passion". What else is there, though? Let us know below and in a few days we'll put them all together in a poll so you can vote for the ones you think are the true "RadioSEGA Classics"!

Do I have a console addiction?

You can suggest as many as you like. If they make the final list or not, we'll see. :)

I would say my own "Chocolate Chipped Cream Sundae Supreme" thanks to its popularity upon the Remix Shorts release in 2012 AND the big running-gag about it on SMD last year. I hope that's not me being a bit too self-focused, though xD

Remix wise, I can also think of Ben Briggs's Trash FM, Snappleman's Malicious Fingers off Project Chaos and almost everything done by OSC, Zone Runners and Prince uf Darkness. If I'm able to poke my head even more with other things that stood out across ALL RS live shows, I'll report back here. xD

There's a load of great tracks listed here, some of them evoke some serious memories! I'll list some of the older classics that where played a lot back in the day:

My Dear Friend Rally
I Can Still Believe - MSR
Moon Beach - SOR
Go Straight - SOR2
Mr Steam - Desert Palace
Wrapped in Black - Sonic Rush
TAP de Papapaya - Lets Tap
MSR MSR MSR MSR MSR MSR
China Town - Revenge of Shinobi.
Growl, from the depths of the earth - PSO
Save This World -Orchestra Version - PSU
Aquarium Park 1/2/3 - Sonic Colors
Turbo Outrun - title theme (C64)
Bridge Zone - Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit)
Other 8bit goodness that I can't remember...

C64 C64 C64 C64
There's probably quite a few tracks from each of those games that where popular from one time to another. Put all these suggestions together and you'd have one hell of a playlist :)

Ben Briggs Smells Like Trash. No RS show feels quite complete without it.

And although I hate it, Puyo Puyo surely has to be in there somewhere....

I joined back in 2007 so I could hear the popular Sega games of the time. I was really interested to hear Phantasy Star tracks because I was heavily playing Phantasy Star Universe.

My pick would be
[h=1]Phantasy Star Universe Ambition of the Illuminus[/h]Save This World - vMIX -

Funny enough not much Sega tracks are in the playlist from games that were being published around 10 years ago when this site first started (in defense of the site most of them were for arcades). I remember Sega purchasing my local Gameworks and turning that place in to a wonderland. A few games that have been lost to time from 10 years ago were Oshare Majo, Dinosaur King, Mushiking (all of these at the height of the collectible arcade card games).

It might be nice to put a Valkyria Chronicles track on the list. It was one of Sega's biggest hits around the time the site first started and getting popular. Most of all Yakuza though. It also made its debut right before the Radio Sega sprung on to the scene.
