What is the most saccharine VGM?

Post by Mikurotoro92 »

What I mean is what is the most "butterflies & rainbows" kind of game music?

In other words, what VGM is way too upbeat & happy?

Even better...what VGM is way too upbeat & happy for that kind of game?

For example, really happy kind of BGM would feel out-of-place in a first-person shooter like Call of Duty

I personally can't think of any. Music in video games tend to match the situation you are playing/watching. There is most likely out of place music, but i have yet to come across any.

That's true but there has to be exceptions to the rule!

Ah apologies I thought you meant happy and upbeat songs.

Maybe try Hell March instead.

Yeah I do mean happy & upbeat but I'm specifically talking about something that's WAY too happy & upbeat which the song you described doesn't really fit

An example of a song that fits that description is the bicycle theme from Pokémon Red & Blue

I hated it as a kid & still do!

Some non-video game examples would be the theme song for the Disney Channel sitcom Liv and Maddie & the theme song for the Disney Junior pre-school show Doc Mcstuffins

A Sega example would be the main theme for Space Harrier especially considering what kind of game it is (rail-shooter)

But at least that theme is more tolerable than the Pokémon bicycle theme!

I don't know ANYBODY who actually likes the bicycle theme

It is THE definition of saccharine game music!

It's so bad that even as a kid I've always had to turn down the volume on the Game Boy Color whenever I was at that point lol

Sorry I just REALLY despise that song!

EDIT:
just thought of another one for Sega:

"So Much More"
from Sonic & Sega All-stars Racing

I like the bike theme! It's a testament to the unrivalled joy and freedom your first bike brings you.
