Manga of the last Week

Hiatus x Hiatus

Image

Author / Artist: Yoshihiro Togashi
Status: Hiatus
Updates: Never
Licensed: Yes
Hunter x Hunter tells the story of Togashi, who decided to make the most awesome Shounen manga. But then he got distracted by Dragon Quest and just plays that instead. If he does decide to return he will scribble some doodles down and call it a chapter. He may decide to fix that in the Volume release

Read the manga, feel the rage.

Then while you're waiting for a new chapter watch the current anime series.

Manga of the Week

Silver Spoon
Image

Author/Artist:
Arakawa Hiromu
Status: Ongoing (7 Volumes)
Updates: Weekly
Licensed: No

A young boy named Yugo Hachiken aspires to live apart from his family. He enrolls in an agriculture school, one which requires its students to live in dormitories. He thinks that with his talent for studying, no problems will arise no matter what kind of school he goes to. But he is soon forced to discover the inconvenient truth about agricultural life. Enjoy the story of Hachiken as he tries to keep up with his friends, farmers' heirs who are already accustomed to a hardworking farm life.

Won the 5th Manga Taisho Award.
Won the 58th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shounen category.
After giving the world a masterpiece in shounen manga Arakawa finally returns, and this series couldn't be more different. Instead of a monthly action/adventure series we're given a weekly slice of life series about a student in an agricultural school. If you've read Fullmetal Alchemist and the bonus pages in the volumes you'll realise the setting isn't that big of a surprise since Arakawa grew up on a farm. So while it doesn't manage to have Arakawa's amazing world building it does at least have her fantastic, likable characters. It's educational, it's funny and it's dramatic. It's a really fantastic manga even if you don't have an interest in farming.

Yea just read that. I don't keep track of Manga and Anime anymore ever since I started to read more western comics. I only keep track of a few like Evangelion. When they first announced this I was so happy but it was around that same time i started walking away from manga. Going to read it now actually, if this comes out west im defiantly getting it. I'm still in love with Arakawa and slice of life (Plus coming to age) stories are my favorite. If you know any good ones please suggest 'em!
