Most, perhaps. However, the Rebuilds are pretty.

Guess I'll find out, from what I've heard they also employ ugly CG.

Ehhh, only for one of the angels and for a few not especially important background bits and bobs: e.g city scenic panoramas.

Characters, on the other hand, look great.

I'm tempted to re-watch the original series again now. However, I should really work on my DVD backlog...
I've got 1.11 and 2.22 on Blu-Ray, and haven't got around to watching them yet. Should do at some point...

Have never seen any of the original series though, which I'm not too sure is a problem or not.

Speaking of, seen 1.11 two weekends ago. I do know I saw the original series back on Adult Swim, but that was a pretty long time ago. Nice to have this movie recap and refresh my memory of the series once again.

Knowing the original series helps, but having not seen it shouldn't hinder you very much.

On the other hand, not knowing could be a good thing, especially when 2.22 starts it's divergence from the events of the original series. After watching 1.11 follow the early stages of the original series quite closely (only minor differences) I spent much of 2.22 going "Wait, hang on, that's different. So's that. HEY! That's new. Cool." and not paying attention to what was actually going on.

I say you should watch the original series first, even though the rebuild series is new take of the series there's something you should know

It probably doesn't help that, even if I wanted to watch the original series, getting it on DVD would be bloody difficult these days...

True. It's been a few years since ADV went down the drain. I think I bought my Platinum Collection at the right time...Might actually fetch a fair few bob nowadays...
