Not only that but when you wake up at 6 AM, it's still heap dark and you don't want to get out of your bed... really pisses me off...
Rain? IN AUSTRALIA?! I honestly cannot fathom such madness...
Don't worry about the dark mornings though. It's the shortest day today for you crazy southern hemisphere people so it'll start getting lighter now.
Longest day today for us normals. WHOO!!! 4am sunlight!

Yeah, figured out what the bad smell was in my house, and sadly it wasn't anything funny or crazy but just a hole in the roof and the water stagnating before it crept in through the walls. Still took about 6 different 'experts' to figure that out though. So now I have the fun of having to make a gang of dodgy tradesmen tea every hour or so for the next week. they ain't having my chocolate biscuits.

Just stick the kettle in the room with them along with a box of cheap teabags - Much easier.

Seems a bit harsh and anti social. Especially as it's forecast to rain all week and they'll be on the roof most of the time!

The way you said it before implied that you didn't want to associate with them, hence the anti-social solution.

I don't get why we feel the need to make tea for workmen. Surely with the money they're making to just tut and fix a minor issue, that they could afford their own

Thermos flasks were invented for a reason!

Yeah I don't want to particularly associate with them but I feel the need to impose my manliess upon them in some way and show them I'm the man of the house. I don't like feeling like I need to avoid these people. It's probably some inferiority complex style fear in me of being usurped in my family home by uneducated tradesmen (in fairness I'm barely educated). This task will not be made easier by the big black and white, studio style photo of my and my brothers that's just been hung in the living room. I've straightened my hair in it and look like I'm staring in wonder at a hippo giving birth. This combined with me scuttling around with a tea tray leaves me in a precarious position regarding my masculinity. I might casually offer them beer when they arrive like it's what I always drink at 11am and if they want tea look shocked like they've just enquired as to the availability of brioche.
