They won't sell it for £40 anyway, it'll either be about 8 groats or come with loads of useless extras to try and corner the market that buys mad 'collector's editions'. That's what they did in America.
I don't understand the outdated comment. Can you recommend a game that has similar game mechanics that's done in a much more advanced way then plz?
That's the term for a vertical/horizontal shooter is it not?
Well we'll see, I remember Raiden Fighters being quoted at about 15 quid (then delayed for about 6 months, I still don't think it's been released!)
The game mechanics are what I was criticising. They lend themselves well to arcade games but not full rrp retail titles

Why not? How long does it take to beat most console releases - 10-20 hours? If you can 1cc a shooter in less than that you have some top notch skills my man. And then you have a good top score to shoot for. You can always improve.
I know what you're saying though, most people would rather play through an adveture game that is like a virtual ghost train taking them on a tour of some cyber world than bury themselves for 6 months to beat 5 levels. That's a problem of people's values though. The challenge is there in a shooter, it's just up to you to work for it.
There's no c in shmups btw.

shmups, got it
I enjoy them but I can't play them for any more than about 20 minutes at a time. Some of the scoring systems are so bizzare & complex that I get higher scores mindlessly blasting than I do actually trying to chain things together

Some people still have that mindset to play arcade games for hours at a time. Trying to get better slowly over the weeks and months. It might seem a bit crazy to practise one level for about 3 hours, but it's more fun to me than playing 3 hours in a turn based strategy game where you'll do little in that time that tests skill or gets the adrenaline pumping.

Quake arena has finally been confirmed for release on XBLA. It's out this coming wednesday. Think I might grab it.

Ooo. I've been waiting a while for that.
It's still a port of Quake III: Arena, isn't it?

Christ finally. Now I can pay way too much for a crap port with an online community that'll die within weeks.

@Gavvie Essentially it is really. I think it just has extra maps and a new single player mode.

I dunno. Quake III was alright, so 800 points would be nice. 1200 would be murder, though.

There's a quake you can play online for free isn't there?
