Oh yeah, I completely skipped the GBA games
Well, point still stands. Each generation of Pokémon games has always had a third version, which has tended to be an amalgamation of the two that preceded it.

Thought I'd add... X and Y are the male and female genes, no?

Yeah, they're the names of the two chromosomes that decide whether you're male or female. I wondered about that when the titles were announced, but I can't imagine we should read too highly into that. Nintendo wouldn't be that subtle, surely..

That's what Gav is saying: He considers Black 2/White 2 to be the equivalent for generation 5.

I'm surprised by this news, it was kind of unexpected, for me at least. After B/W2, I didn't think they would go to the next generation so quick.
For being first time in the 3D, looks decent. The designs of the new starters aren't appealing, and I'm not confident that the rest will be as well.
As for the title, X/Y, if it really does reference the coordinates, that's a nice touch. It would make sense if the "final mix" version turns out to be Z.
Looking forward to it for sure.

You're right! I didn't notice it.
And to think that I was waiting that day to finally come :<

The gap between the first 3 Gens were within 3 years, and the last 2 within 4. So they're no really doing it much faster than they did before, don't forget they're not even coming out until October.
And yes, B/W2 were never anything more than a more interesting way to do the 3rd version.

The game's set to have 700 Pokemon. Also the game footage showed wasn't final, so it's too early to judge the graphics. And lastly, Game Freak forgot the 3DS has a circle pad?

I doubt the graphics themselves will change much, Pokemon graphics have never improved from reveal to release.
