Nope sorry.

Changing the subject:

I've noticed lately that Viz Media are offering US readers the opportunity to subscribe to their new digital "Shonen Jump Alpha" service, launching at the end of January, offering near simultaneous chapters releases of some of their big titles; One Piece, Bleach, Bakuman, Naruto, Nura: Rise of the Yokia Clan and Toriko. Meanwhile Viz are planning on ending their US print magazine version of Shonen Jump in April. In other words? They're ditching the print mag in favour of a digital service.

Your thoughts, American friends? Sad to see the magazine go? Collection volumes seem safe for now, although I can see them going eventually, especially since Viz are releasing digital versions of their releases earlier than printed volumes now via their iOS and web app.

Aw Shonen Jump's closing shop? That's sad, I always liked reading the mag in print, just like in Japan. Guess the economy hit them too.....

Just to clarify, it's only the American Shonen Jump Magazine that's ending. The Japanese one is still in full swing and has no plans to end it's printed edition.

Considering this is how most people read manga anyway I think it's great. About time the manga companies started catching up with the anime companies.

True, I prefer physical media - for manga, films, games, everything really - but I know I'm in the minority and it won't be around forever. Great to see a legitimate way for people to keep up with some of their favourite franchises though. The hard part will be convincing people to switch away from any current illegitimate sources.

I don't think it needs to be one or the other, I like to keep up to date with anime/manga but I
still like to collect volumes or boxsets. People will use the service if it's good.

edit: The biggest advantage of this for both anime and manga is that there is less risk so lesser titles can be released. I mean, I still wont be able to have an awesome JoJo collection, but they may give me a legal way to read excellent stuff that don't make it here like Neuro.

Lots of anime ended this week.
Fate/zero's first season has ended. Very good build up for April's season 2.
Ben-to's ending was anticlimatic.
Penguindrum's was just confusing.
Un-go ended nicely. Waiting for the prequel.

Watched Summer wars again. I'm definitely buying it next time I find it.

Both Fate/Zero and Un-Go's ending made me want to kick something. Un-Go acted like it didn't even have an end and before they finished it someone reminded them it was the finale so they threw in an action scene.

Fate/Zero was just fucking... fuck argh jesus... don't end a season with just an annoying cliffhanger if it's not going to return until April!
