You might be thinking of Samurai Warriors where he wears green, but in Sengoku Basara he wears blue.

Samruai Warriors (Also known as Sengoku Musou in Japan) is a semi-serious hack and slash by Koei set in Japan's Sengoku (Warring States) period.

Sengoku Basara (Also known as Devil Kings in the west) is an over the top hack and slash by Capcom set in Japan's Sengoku (Warring States) period.

I've actually got Devil Kings kicking around somewhere...might try that out

That's probably because they were both (loosely) based on a real person. With an eye patch.
