Haha well there's a reason why he wants you to learn the names..that's the reason. But he should also understand that even some excellent players prefer not to.

Keyboard's a great gateway instrument if you actually put the time forth to playing it. Mainly because Piano and Organ are both beautiful sounding instruments.
Oh and speaking of other instruments outside guitar..I want a Zither. Sounds amazing.

So that's the instrument they use to make those Chinese songs... I see..
I believe we have something similar to that called the Santur.

Anyways, I've just started trying to learn a new Persian song on the guitar. I'm not too much into Persian music but I guess learning something new wouldn't hurt since I need something to keep my Persian family and friends entertained. I can't keep on playing the same songs over and over again.
The song isn't half bad though... if you understand Persian.

Sorry for posting on a topic that hasn't been used in 5 years....
I play the piano. I'm not that good at it, and I can't read music notes, but I can play some video game songs on it (For example Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time). I can also play a little bit of guitar, but I'm not very good at it.

Might as well add to the topic since it's back from the dead. I played the clarinet for about 4 years and I then switched to the alto saxophone, which I still play today. I want to learn to play the soprano saxophone in the future but our school band does not allow them, so I'll have to learn it on my own time.

I've always wanted to learn an instrument but I have no idea which one to learn. I have always been fond of Guitars,Drums and Violins as well but it comes down to the cost of getting X instrument really that always put me off.

I can play some random tracks on the piano. I learn them by ear, I have no idea of the technical rules of playing. I can play some Phantasy Star tracks, Gemfire tracks, something I thought I made up but I think I might have heard it in Doom.
