Podcast Problems

For some reason the latest episode of SEGA AGES (Sonic Team Minus Sonic) won't download onto my iTunes account. It lists it, it's just not downloading and saying error. This isn't a first (although it is for THIS podcast) but I normally have like issues with some of CNN's podcasts that I subscribe to, although not lately. And yes, everything else works fine. Any solutions? I wanted to listen to this show!

The download worked fine for me via iTunes so I'd wager it's a problem on your end. Especially since you say you have problems with the CNN podcast. Just check the simple stuff like if you've got the correct password saved and other issues like that.

I've just tried it here and it's working fine for me in iTunes too. Are you getting any specific error messages or anything like that?

It says 'Internal Server Error Occurred'

In which case, would you mind trying something for me? Can you open in your browser the SEGA AGES RSS feed (which is what 'feeds' the iTunes Store) @ http://www.radiosega.net/feeds/segaages.xml and try to download the file from there (depending on your browser, there will probably be a link with text of 'SEGA+AGES+-+E38+-+Sonic+Team+(26+Nov+2010).m4a').

Let me know if that works.

It's downloading but as a .m4a.txt -- something's not right.

If the file is about the right size, download it and then remove the .txt before opening it.

Looking at the feed myself, I can't see this file extension.

NOW it works. That was interesting. Thanks!

I'd be tempted to say it's a problem with the MIME type registration on SEGA Media's servers, but those are registered on the server itself, so it'd be the same for everyone, not just you.

To be honest, I'm not sure what to suggest as I have no idea why it would download the file as a text file. It doesn't make any sense.

Just in case it means anything, when you did that test for me from the RSS feed, which browser and version did you use?

I don't know if you're referring to me or crippenstation, but when I looked at the feed, I used Firefox's internal feed renderer and looked at the source code.
