Where are all these obscure little games from?! They're on the PICO console, of course! Usually I don't mention the specific rippers of soundtracks unless they're involved with RadioSEGA, but as I know marklincadet more intimately than your average ripper, I'd like to give him a special thanks for uploading these PICO soundtracks to VGMrips.

Contains 2 tracks. Suggested by Kopke
Artists: Mayu Maeshima, R·O·N, Sho Watanabe, Teppei Shimizu, Yuka Iguchi

Virtua Fighter Animation (Virtua Fighter Mini) / SEGA / 1996
Contains 20 tracks. Suggested by the ripper Marklincadet
Artists: Kojiro Mikusa

A lot of past ATLUS games here, as SuperSonicSwag noticed on the Nintendo 3DS eShop that some games there were listed with SEGA as publisher (depending on the region). Bisylizzie compiled them all and the publishing based on region, so I’ve quoted her for that info.

Update 1/30/2023 Support Symphony
Altered Beast [MSX] / Activision / 1989
Contains 1 track. Suggested by the ripper marklincadet
Artists: Alberto Jose González
Kingdom Conquest / SEGA / 2011
Contains 1 track
Details: This is ripped from the PS Vita version of PSO2. I’d like to at some point work with the tracks from BINARY DOMAIN and Rise of Nightmares (though it’s not as hard to get their soundtracks, we’ve already got an incarnation of BD after all).
Power Drift [MSX] / Activision / 1989
Contains 1 track. Suggested by the ripper marklincadet
Artists: Alberto Jose González
ROOMMANIA#203 / SEGA / 1999
Added 4 tracks. Provided by nightsb203
Artists: Serani Poji
Details: These 4 tracks are demo versions of Serani Poji’s songs in the game (with extra Tomoko Sasaki). It seems to be from a demo CD of some kind, but it’s extremely rare.
SEKAI SYMPHONY 2022 Live CD / Warner Music Japan / 2022
Contains 21 tracks. Work by Bisylizzie (quite a while ago)
Artists: Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra & Sekai Symphony Special Band
Details: This was uploaded in December 2022, but I think I missed it when adding tracks into the playlist. Thank you to Bisylizzie for noticing it was missing.
SOUL HACKERS 25th ANNIVERSARY MUSIC ALBUM / ATLUS / 2022
Contains 30 tracks. Added by KC, tagged by Nicolaas Hamman
Artists: Oliver Good, Keita Inoue, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Ryota Kozuka, Shotaro Seo
Details: This contains 3 discs, each with a different theme (2 of which are just themed after the corporation doing the arrangement, being ATLUS and MONACA, and 1 is all jazz)

Update 2/6/2023 Lunar System

BLADE Eagle 3-D / SEGA / 1988
Contains 7 tracks

BOMBER RAID / SEGA / 1989
Contains 1 track

Fighters Megamix / SEGA / 1996
Removed 11 tracks. 1 track landed. Noted by GreenViper8
Artists: Hiro, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi
Details: Previously this included the reused music from Out Run, After Burner II and Fighting Vipers [Saturn]. Those are gone, but in their place I added the Rent-a-Hero vocal arrangement that was previously in Rent-a-Hero.

Lord of the Sword (LORD of SWORD) / SEGA / 1989
Contains 7 tracks

Kenseiden / SEGA / 1988
Contains 11 tracks
Details: Files for Kenseiden were in rscontent, but weren’t used on the playlist. I’ve replaced for a higher bitrate.

Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba / SEGA / 1994
Contains 17 tracks. Suggested by the ripper, marklincadet
Artists: Yayoi Wachi

Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker [Mega Drive] / SEGA / 1990
Added 3 tracks
Artists: Hiroshi Kubota
Details: Taken from Kubota’s YouTube channel, 2 of these are unused MJ soundalikes, and the 3rd wasn’t meant for any game, but was composed during Moonwalker’s development, so I’m including it like he did.
Also, for some reason they're displaying on the playlist as double their actual length. Bear with me as I test those.

maimai / SEGA / 2012
1 track departed
Details: See maimai DX

maimai DX / SEGA / 2019
Removed 2 tracks. Noted by Bisylizzie
Artists (for landed track): GYARI
Details: A couple were removed as they debuted in Project DIVA Mega Mix/mirai 2 games before maimai. Akari Has Arrived was always supposed to go in maimai DX, but I only tagged the album correctly, the folders seen on the playlist pull from the artist field.

maimai MiLK / SEGA / 2017
Renamed 1 track. Noted by Bisylizzie
Artists: Mitchie M
Details: I was lied to by maimai wiki, which misnamed the song Love! Snow! Really, but there should be a Magic added on at the end.

maimai ORANGE PLUS / SEGA / 2015
Removed 1 track. Noted by Bisylizzie
Details: Another case of DIVA stealing the spotlight. The Lost One's Weeping can be found in DIVA X

My Hero (Seishun Scandal) [Master System] / SEGA / 1985
Contains 2 tracks

Rent A Hero No. 1 / SEGA / 2000
Retagged all tracks. Replaced 2 tracks. Removed 1 track. Added 37 tracks
Artists: Hiro, Kayako Matsushima, Kojiro Mikusa, feat. Hironobu Kageyama, KAKO, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi
Details: This could do with some work. I kept most of the songs, but gave them the common (but poor) translations seen on albums, while also adding all the music from the Renta no Kyoku album. Some tracks kept from the game aren’t in the album, and several tracks are on the album but weren’t on the playlist, so there’s some exclusivity going on. For the rest, think of it like how some Shenmue songs have both the in-game and differing album version included. I’ve also moved over the songs that were on RENT A HERO VS VERMILION ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK, since they aren’t different in-game besides compression.

Rent-a-Hero / SEGA / 1991
3 tracks departed. Renamed 1 track
Details: See Fighters Megamix and Rent-a-Hero No.1 (well, I also changed a certain translation from Twilight’s Rent-a-Hero to Rent-a-Hero of Twilight, do you prefer it too? And I don't know whether people people prefer Rent A Hero / Rent-a-Hero, I've seen both used officially in some way)

The Ninja / SEGA / 1986
Contains 6 tracks
Details: See Kenseiden

Zaxxon 3-D / SEGA / 1987
Contains 10 tracks (split between PSG and FM)

Update 2/13/2023 supe R.R.R.R.B. owl
club kart european session / SEGA / 2001
Replaced all tracks tracks
Artists: Sachio Ogawa
Details: These I’ve added names for and looped. The loops didn’t come with my conversion, I edited them in by stacking the duplicate on the end and then moving it back I think 0.04 seconds, for consistency. Some loops will sound somewhat awkward, but loops of music Sachio Ogawa has made has loops that sound like that.

Mega Drive Hachamecha Daisakusen -Osomatsu na Title de Sumimasen- Song Collection / MEMI DRIVE / 2020
Contains 11 tracks. Suggested by Kopke, who also translated the track titles for the 1st draft and advised me on the final list.
Artists: Hironori Shoji, Hiroyuki Kawada, Hyakutaro Tsukumo, Norio Nakagata, Shinji Hosoe, Tsukasa Masuko feat. Memi Aizawa
Details: I don’t really know the policy on indie albums, since I haven’t dealt with them much in my 3 years as playlist manager. I thought at last moment that it probably fits in better in Non-playlist music, but I imagine kopke assumed it was going on the main playlist, and I’ve recently felt burned by a person like me who wasn’t forthcoming with details, so personal grudges made me feel I should put this on the main playlist. What do you think of it? Do you like it here, or would you prefer it move to Non-playlist music, where some other indie works indie works appear (but it’s mostly remixes instead of original songs) (also I might be taking this addition too seriously with baggage)
On the translation topic, I first outsourced it to kopke at the last minute, which was what delayed this update until as he sent me his list at 10 PM UK Time yesterday, I sent back my second draft 6 AM UK Time, and we managed to come together to work out the kinks 5 PM UK Time. We tried to make sure you could understand it without a Japanese background, and the most obvious example is that メガドラ was translated as Mega Drive. It's common in Japanese to give products 4-syllable nicknames, you probably know a lot of anime and manga by 4-syllable names, but there's other SEGA examples like クレタク (Kuretaku, Crazy Taxi) or チェンクロ (Chenkuro, Chain Chronicle). I don't remember if there's a term for this, probably is. I guess, in English, it's sort of like when Super Smash Bros. gets called Smash, or when Sonic Frontiers gets called Frontiers. Just something to help your sentences be shorter to say.
It's already going to confuse people who don't know about that, before we get into whether メガドラ gets translated as Megadora (straight syllables), MegaDri (matching which parts of Mega Drive get cut out) or Megadra (which I've seen used officially). I couldn't think of a nickname we give the Mega Drive to quickly say it in conversation (outside of MD, which Japan also uses, and "a Sega", which would be way more confusing). Just don't need to worry about it and listen to Mega Drive.

Joe Montana II: Sports Talk Football / SEGA / 1991
Contains 1 track. Inspired by Gavvie
Artists: Kathryn Francavilla, Mark Guidas, Raymond Frericks Jr., Jeff Fort

NFL '95 [Mega Drive] / SEGA / 1994
Contains 6 tracks. Inspired by Gavvie
Artists: Andy Armer

Prime Time NFL Football (NFL ‘98)
Contains 5 tracks
Artists: Andy Armer
Details: These are the original notes on the rip by DJ Squarewave:
Prime Time NFL and NFL '98 have the same music.
Prime Time is the earlier release, so I used
that for the set name. -DJSW

Super Racing / SEGA / 1988
Contains 18 tracks (split across PSG and FM). Ripped on request by marklincadet

Uranai Angel Cutie / SEGA / 1984
Contains 2 tracks
Artists: Katsuhiro Hayashi

Third Party Music
Mutant League Football / Electronic Arts / 1993
Replaced 1 track. Added 1 track. Inspired by Gavvie
Artists: Brian Schmidt
Details: A BTW, I didn't notice this was already on the playlist, at least that 1 track, but maybe it showed up on SNS anyways without me mentioning to Gavvie which american football games we had.

Rush Rush Rally Racing / RedSpotgames / 2009
Contains 13 tracks. Inspired by skyblaze
Artists: Black Device

Remix Music
Meets By Oracle: Phantasy Star Online 2 - 5th Anniversary Book / MICMNIS / 2017
Fixed 1 track
Artists: luminous

Non-playlist Music

Update 2/20/2023 Chu Are Invited…
Notes at the start! Odd.
All of this work was done by Bisylizzie, except where noted. Also, I am the guardian of the playlist and none may pass me.
If you’re a show host, please don’t download these songs same day this update goes out. On the backend, I still need to move some files into their new positions, only the public playlist is pristine (hopefully). Maybe do your downloads 24 hours after you read this.
Sorry I wasn’t able to include an artists field this time, I didn’t prepare well enough.

Update 2/27/2023 Like a Death of a Yakuza
For a long time now, we’ve been pseudo-localising the title for Japanese-only Like a Dragon games to have a Yakuza name, but we’ve decided to get rid of that. Are there any other series we do that with?

CR Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! Tensho Gion Edition
Retagged all tracks to fit the game name change.

Hoshi wo Sagashite… / SEGA / 1988
Contains 20 tracks (split between PSG and FM). Removed the track which appeared in Segacon -The Best of Sega Game Music-
Artists: Kazuhiko Nagai

Hogwarts Legacy / WB Games, SEGA / 2023
Contains 75 tracks
Artists: Alexander Horowitz, Chuck E. Myers, J Scott Rakozy, Peter Murray
Details: From both the original soundtrack and study themes soundtrack. Sub-published by SEGA in Japan as part of a deal with WB Games, so SEGA’s handling the manufacturing and distribution of the company’s console and PC games. The next game in that deal seems to be Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, so maybe we’ll get that on the playlist eventually.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! (Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! Kiwami) / SEGA / 2023
Contains 6 tracks. Work by Bisylizzie and KC
Artists: Kenichi Tokoi, Junpei Mishima, Rintaro Soma, Saori Yoshida, Yasuyuki Nagata, Yuri Fukuda feat. Takaya Kuroda
Details: The 2 karaoke songs come from the Like a Dragon: Ishin! Complete Karaoke Songs digital album, while the other 4 are ripped from the game. There’s a lot more people credited for music, but as the rest all worked on the original game and there’s 1 new composer for each of the new background tunes, I assume they made 1 each.

Kurohyo: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinsho / SEGA / 2010
Retagged all tracks to fit the game name change. Added 10 tracks
Artists for added tracks: Hajime Uchiyama, Hiroyoshi Kato (noisycroak Co.,Ltd.), Keiichiro Nomura (SyncLive Inc.), Kenichiro (POPHOLIC INC.), MASAO MASE (SPACEWALKER), Yuko Iseki
Details: Ripped from the game. Some tracks were excluded because they’re reused from Yakuza 3 or 4.

Kurohyo 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Asurahen / SEGA / 2012
Retagged all tracks to fit the game name change. Added 17 tracks
Artists for added tracks: @2 (Atsuhiro Watanabe), Daniel Lindholm, DJMASE (Masao Mase) (SPACEWALKER Co.,Ltd.), Hisashi Saito, Kenji Akabane, metalmouse, Nozom Yoneda, Toshihiro Tanaka (SoundDrive), Wall5 (Heigo Tani) (SPACEWALKER Co.,Ltd.), LSI, white white sisters(HEARTFAST INC.), YOSHITSURU, Yuichi Wakabayashi (SoundDrive), Yuya Saito (SoundDrive)
Details: Ripped from the game, I’m pretty sure. I did check out a rip of the vinyl record, which has music by Hyd Lunch, skankfunk, ZENTA and Yutaka Akiyama, but I didn’t like the rip (especially when some songs weren’t at the right speed and got stretched and pitch shifted)

Robo Wres 2001 / SEGA / 1986
Contains 2 tracks

Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! / SEGA / 2014
Retagged all tracks to fit the game name change, plus used a more understandable translation by thomas06 for VGMdb.

Side Pocket [Mega Drive] / DATA EAST, SEGA / 1992
Contains 21 tracks
Artists: Emi Shimizu, Masaaki Iwasaki
Details: Published by SEGA in Europe.

Yakuza Kiwami (Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami) / SEGA / 2016
Added 24 tracks
Artists: Akiko Akiyama, Chihiro Aoki, Fumiyoshi Shimohara, Hidenori Shoji, Saori Yoshida, Yuri Fukuda, ZENTA
Details: From the Yakuza B-Sides project by MiracleJohnsonVEVO. Some tracks weren’t included because they’re either not significantly different from what’s already on the playlist, or are re-cut versions of music from the original Yakuza. There’s a couple more I think might be from other entries (some of the songs with Majima in the title), but I can’t remember which it would be.

Third Party Music:
Side Pocket [Game Gear] / DATA EAST / 1994
Contains 9 tracks
Artists: Emi Shimizu, Hitoshi Sakimoto

Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle / GameTek / 1994
Contains 5 tracks
Artists: Martin Walker

Update 3/6/2023 Near Misses
F355 Challenge 2 / SEGA / 2001
Retagged all tracks. Added 2 tracks
Details: Some songs were missing because I didn’t notice they were new back when I first added F355 Challenge 2.

Formula One World Championship, Beyond the Limit (Heavenly Symphony Formula One World Championship 1993) / SEGA / 1994
Added 5 tracks
Artists: Jun Senoue, Kan'ichiro Kubo, SEGA
Details: Not every track on Heavenly Symphony Formula One World Championship 1993 Vol.2 are different enough musically to be added to the playlist, but these 3 certainly are. They’re kind of disco/house remixes that can be connected with Vol.2’s exclusive song The Day Before Battle. They still have sound effects and voices in them like the rest of the Vol.2 album.
The other 2 tracks are ripped from the game and are weird alternate arrangements of the songs. Another version of Only One Way To Go later appears in the tracklist which matches the albums, but Time To Detonate only has the one (but since the song also gets remixed on album Vol.2, there’s 3 versions of the song on the playlist now!)

maimai DX Splash PLUS / SEGA / 2021
Added 1 track
Artists: GYARI
Details: Eien ni Game de Taisen Shitai Kiritan was added by Bisylizzie a month ago, but it was missed when my side of the CHUNITHM reworking was going on.

MUSHIKING: The Guardians of the Forest (Kochuouja Mushiking ~Mori no Tami no Densetsu~) / TV TOKYO Corporation / 2005
Contains 37 tracks
Artists: Kaoru Wada feat. Pam (Rumi Shishido)
Details: In case you’re wondering, this isn’t a MUSHIKING game. It isn’t one of the feature-length films, either, it’s an animated series.

Taisen Mahjong Hao-Pai / SEGA / 1990
Contains 7 tracks. Inspired by the ripper marklincadet.
Artists: Katsuhiro Hayashi

Safari Hunt / SEGA / 1986
Replaced 1 track.
Artists: Katsuhiro Hayashi
Details: The previous version of Title Screen including a jingle and some sound effects at the end. By the way, this song was also included in Taisen Mahjong Hao-Pai, but I haven’t added that one since it’s identical. Also yes, marklincadet ripped this as well.

WORLD CLUB Champion Football Intercontinental Clubs 2006-2007 / SEGA / 2008
Contains 12 tracks which landed from WORLD CLUB Champion Football
Artists: Junpei Mishima, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi

WORLD CLUB Champion Football SERIE A 2001-2002 / SEGA / 2002
Contains 12 tracks which landed from WORLD CLUB Champion Football
Artists: Takenobu Mitsuyoshi

WORLD CLUB Champion Football SERIE A 2002-2003 / SEGA / 2003

Update 3/13/2023 The Ravine of Wonder
This update is all about splitting up major updates for some arcade war games. I just happened to be doing a lot of research into that this week, so made it the focus of the update. There’s another arcade series (not Sangokushi Taisen, but I’d like to do that too) that I was working on splitting up better, but maybe that can be finished in a couple weeks.

Eiketsu Taisen: Kaiten no Gobousei / SEGA / 2022
Contains 1 track
Artists: Keitaro Hanada
Details: This is version 1.5 of Eiketsu Taisen, which added some new stages. I only found a recording of another stage theme earlier tonight, so I’ll have to add that next week.

Eiketsu Taisen: Sanzensekai no Hadou / SEGA / 2022
Contains 6 tracks
Artists: Yasuyuki Nagata
Details: These Eiketsu Taisen songs are taken from gameplay videos srkentei uploaded to Nicovideo. Sound effects are minimal, though, since they intentionally didn’t do anything so you can as much of the music as possible. There’s also a line of dialogue at the start (you’ll hear in the previews) and a jingle at the end of each song, hope the quality’s alright. I also hope the translations do it justice, some of them seem really tough.

Update 3/20/2023 And That One Too!
This is my first time really trying to incorporate lists of songs to watch out for, given replacements, additions and name changes. I've also tried to make them more compact
using a smaller size and the spoiler function.

CODE OF JOKER / SEGA / 2013
Added 12 tracks
Artists: Harumi Ueko, Hidenori Shoji, Michiru Yamane, MintJam, Sachio Ogawa, Takeshi Miura
Details: This is a mix of sources to make up what was included on CODE OF JOKER SOUND TRACK vol:01 -RED-. Most are from the YouTube channel fuhaha haha that has lots of songs, including everything off the one CD. 3 (Black artist by Takeshi Miura, Bloom on the battlefield by Harumi Ueko and Feast of the underworld by Michiru Yamane) are taken from the files of modern SANGOKUSHI TAISEN, so quality varies.

Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX / SEGA / 2014
Renamed 3 tracks. Retagged all tracks
Artists: Teruhiko Nakagawa

Eiketsu Taisen: Kaiten no Gobousei / SEGA / 2022

Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken ~Shinpan no Sousousei: Kengou Retsuden~) / SEGA / 2005
Contains 15 tracks
Artists: Hiroshi Ebihara, Kennosuke Suemura
Details: The arcade version is just called Hokuto no Ken, but since the PS2 version with mostly the same music (the credits music got swapped) got a new subtitle, I picked that to help with being identified. The US release by SEGA Amusements USA is exclusive to arcades.

Flash Beats / SEGA / 1999
Contains 12 tracks
Artists: Black Masses [Masters At Work], Bucket Beetleg [Masters At Work], Coldcut, Crucial Conflict, Dazzle-T & Quicky, DUB SQUAD, Numb Sutra, Papi, Soul Boy [D. Tenaglia / E. Montilla], Viva Unity [Shinichi Osawa/Monday Michiru], X-313 [Alan D. Oldham], YO-C
