The Weirdest Day Ever
Story: Meet Ray, a hard hat tester. One day as he's walking home, something bonks him on the head and now he's got a pink spaghetti arm out of his head! He can use it to read minds too! And the weirder part is that no one can see the arm but him. Even his girlfriend doesn't believe him. And now there are some guys chasing him around town! Man, this is one crazy day for Ray.
Sticking it To The Man
Gameplay: This game has been compared to many other games such as Psychonauts, Maniac Mansion and to the Nickelodeon 90’s classic, Rocko’s Modern Life.
The game itself is a side scrolling platformer that almost feels like a point and click adventure. You move Ray around as well as he can jump. The gimmick to the game is reading minds. By holding down the R1 button and using the right analog stick to guide the pink spaghetti arm to a nearby person’s brain and reading their thoughts. Some people’s thoughts will give you a sticker, which you will need to use in the area.
So basically, you talk / read people’s minds and see what they need. And then you run around the area trying to figure out what sticker you need to use. It’s a big puzzle game. But it’s fun. What makes the game fun is its humor. The game is chock-full of it! You’ll find yourself letting out a chuckle at the jokes.
Almost Like a 90’s Cartoon
Graphics: My god is this game beautiful or what?
The game’s look is very cartoony. From the leaning buildings (reminding me of Rocko’s Modern Life), to the characters heads popping up and down like the Canadians from South Park, it’s all very creative. Every character has a very unique look to them. And the fact that the game’s world is all based on cardboard and paper cut outs, this game just looks so cool.
Spaghetti Arm Swing
Music: Oh my god this game’s soundtrack.
What can I say, I’m a sucker for swing/jazz music.Stick it To The Man!’s soundtrack is amazingly good. It’s uplifting, mysterious and just downright a joy to listen to. I really recommend it to those who love swing jazz music.
Music is composed by Joel Billie (soundtrack is also available at BandCamp).
The Best Mind-Blowing Game?
Overall: Stick it To The Man! is one hell of a fun game. I freaking adore it. From the music to the design, it’s great. The voice acting is really nice too! Ray has a bit of a Jersey accent to him (the way he says “sticker” is a bit of a giveaway). Everyone sounds really good. I really love this game, I recommend it to all. Give it a try, please.
