Welcome to RadioSEGA's forum. Use this thread to introduce yourself.
Well, I'll start things off, I'm Mark, I'm from the UK and I study Web Design at university. Favourite SEGA console is the Dreamcast... Mainly because of Jet Set Radio, Samba De Amigo, Shenmue and Rez... Best games ever!

Hey, Segata here! I'm very happy that Mark and Radio-Sega are back, i really missed them all those months!! The new website looks good Mark, simple, clear and just retro enough.
For me the Dreamcast was the last great console! Its my favourite, followed by Arcade (i actually hunt down old arcades and go to spend my change there) and Genesis!!!
Cheers to all!!

Hey welcome back, good to see you back. Hopefully this place will start to fill up again soon enough!
Yes i am new, or well not that new ><
I got the e-mail, and decided to join up.
My favourite SEGA console was also the Dreamcast, the amount of classic games on it - Shenmue I & II, Jet set radio, to name two. They may of been ported onto Xbox, but they'll alway remain two of Sega's best games.
Yo. You might know me as Dr Kong. I live in lovely Britannia, Currently studying an Art Foundation course at College, eventually going on to study Illustration/ Animation at Uni.
My favourite Sega Console is of course the Dreamcast, simply for Jet Set Radio although Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckles will always remain close to my heart.
I think Sega's output in its games has been pretty poor of late but with the recent launch of two new consoles, I think they have a big chance to redeem themselves (especially with the Wii).

Hello Games Master here I am at University studying Business Management.
My favourite Sega console was the Megadrive nothing beats the System 16 arcade ports the machine had. I also like Streets of Rage and Sonic the Hedgehog--great games.
ResidentSD
10-12-2006, 01:15
ResidentSD here, and Mark haven't you come a long way since the old days! lol
Seriously, the new site is looking pretty darn cool.
About me anyway, I live in Dudley in the heart of the Black Country in the West Midlands. Do you remember the earthquake we had in 2002? The epicenter was in Dudley - that's about our only recent claim to fame (other than that Lenny Henry comes from here).
I'm an old school Sega fan (why else would I be here right). I love the Sonic games particularly, I had a Mega Drive & Mega CD in my childhood, missed out the Saturn generation, then got hooked by the Dreamcast. Then, in my collecting phase I got a Saturn, so got to relive some of that generation.
These days, I'm into my Xbox 360 (no prizes for guessing my gamertag) and can't wait to get my Wii later in the month (hopefully). And I love my Nintendo DS Lite too - it's a beaut!
If you want to find out more about my gaming stuff, check out www.residentsd.co.uk (http://www.residentsd.co.uk).

Hi,
Most will already know me. I am a data processor at the moment. I am a huge Sonic fan, so much that I not only have my own character, but my own spin off universe.
Loving my brand new Wii right now, but will be all for a PSU meet up when my gamertag for my 360 is fixed (hint hint Mark).
SegaMark
10-12-2006, 02:01
Aye, I'll get it fixed, I've either been busy with coursework or busy with... well you're on it now.
I'm Alastor, erm....a student bum?
I like, really, really love Metal Gear Solid games and can't wait for number 4!
Studying to become a games journal so I can go to E3 one day, plus I get to write about games and play games!
I think Sonic is a pretty cool character and love how iconic he's become. The games aren't half bad either!
I'm Siriku, a....er... college dropout, and therefore more bum-like then Alastor =P
Favourite console would be the Megadrive, despite selling my 80 odd games when I was 10. Oh to be foolish and in love with the PS1 ;_;.
Favourite Sega game is Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Wewt.
So yeah, top of the morning to ye all! =)
Hi.
I'm Kyleth.
I got out my Mega Drive the other day and now I can't stop playing Sonic games.
I have no life.
I'm Noz, I'm here from before but 'cause Mark smells I had to re-register and therefore lost all my old rant/moany posts. =P
I am a student @ Imperial College studying chemical engineering. It's worse than it sounds. >.<
Herrick-TGN's resident cult leader right Kyleth?
Err I don't really have that much SEGA stuff well in fact all I have is SA2B and Rush. I'm hoping to make up for lost time now.
Hi, I'm Steve. I'm a second year at college doing A-levels in business, I.T and law. Been a big Sonic fan ever since I was waist-high, still have a couple of sonic posters on my wall, a sonic lamp and sonic curtains ^_^. Nowadays I don't play many Sega games, except for the rare times when I decide Jet Set Radio Future needs to be completed again or when my little brother decides he needs a competitor for a random Sonic game on the GameCube.

Hi,
I'm Podffork. A name of great and subtle cunningness.
My favourite colour is pink. I believe in unicorns, fairies and that Sega will get back into the hardware business.
Hi everyone!
I found the link to here is a UK games mag called Retro Gamer so I thought I pop along and have a look.
My gaming history started back in the 80s with an Atari 2600 and then onto a C64. One day my C64 died and as my cousins had a NES I too wanted one. My knowledge of the market was minimal so when I opened up my Megadrive I wasn't sure exactly what it was (but I knew it wasn't a NES). Anyway I set it up and plugged in the Ghostbusters cart (the other 2 I got were Altered Beast and Fantasia :(). WOW!!! It was easy to setup and play like a NES but it was better! Much better!!! Thus my love affair with Sega began. I bought a Saturn and a Dreamcast on launch day and have been collecting games for them from day one (I'm only 23 games away from a full pal Dreamcast collection).
I graduated from university a few years back and now work in QA for a games company (not telling as I done that before and spent the whole time talking about work on the forum).
I loved the music from Nights (esp that of the Christmas edition) and the cheese beast that was Sonic R!
Cheers,
segauk

Welcome back guys. :)
Greetings!! I'm Leonardo (just call me Leo) and I got into Sega about two years ago and I'm lovin' it! My first game console was an N64 I got for my 9th birthday but that doesn't mean I'm a complete newbie.
The whole Sega thing started when I got a Dreamcast a couple of years ago for £16.99 out of Gamestation and since then I've got a Multi-Mega, Asian-spec Megadrive and a Japanese Sega Saturn:biggrin: I love Sonic too but I am the only one who thinks Road Avengers cool.

Hello, my name is Dwayne. I am 25 and hailing from Phoenix, Arizona. I've been into Sega for the longest time. Like others here, I believe the Dreamcast to be the greatest system of all time. Games like Sonic Adventure, Power Stone 2, Shenmue, Grandia 2, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, etc. were just golden. Anyone like to play on Xbox Live? Gamertag is "The Vitamin D". Hit me up sometime and we can play some games!

Hi All
I'm Matt from Derby - England (originally from Nottingham just down the road) and I'm a 3D graphic artist for a video game company. Been in the games industry 8 years, still loving it (although the politics in video games does bite a tad every now and then)
Been gaming since my mum bought me an Acorn Electron back in the early 80's (remember Repton) and have had most of the major consoles, Megadrive being my all time fave.
I do a lot of retro gaming (I own around 850 games on various formats which is always growing) as it makes me feel young again.....
Have to say.......ACE site......Thanks Mark
SegaMark
30-01-2007, 01:50
Nottingham close by? I wonder if you're a Free Radical guy. :P
Fazza360
30-01-2007, 23:20
No....not Free Radical......nor Core. I work for Eurocom in Derby. They have been making games since the 8 bit days (one of the first games was James Bond Jr for the NES) and have made some big selling titles. The games I've worked on there are Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Sphinx, Spyro a Heros Tail and currently a 360 / PS3 title due out in May. Other games by the company include James Bond Nightfire, James Bond TWINE, Buffy, Ice Age, Robots, Cool Spot etc. Before them I used to work for Ubisoft in Oxford
Its cool working with people who have been in the industry for years. One of the guys at our place wrote Rick Dangerous......How cool is that? (If you know of the game that is...)
If your interested check out the site www.eurocom.co.uk (http://www.eurocom.co.uk)

BlueNocturne
15-02-2007, 18:37
Hello, RadioSega! Great site you guys have got, here. I usually go by 'BlueNocturne' on most websites. I've been playing videogames for almost 20 years, and Sega is my absolute favorite company. I've owned most of their consoles aside from some other specials like WonderMega. Even though Sega is my favorite, I like to keep an open mind and enjoy just about any video game I can get my hands on.
My favorite Sega console would have to be the Dreamcast. I happen to be a huge fan of arcade games, and since there were so many perfect ports(even including additions) of Naomi-based arcade games, I was very happy. I also spent a lot of time with the online games such as Phantasy Star Online and Chu Chu Rocket. Chu Chu Rocket was especially exciting since it was the first online multi player game to be released on the console here. Then there were other innovative games such as Jet Set/Grind Radio, Seaman, Shenmue, Rez, Samba de Amigo, Space Channel 5, etc. So many good memories..
Welcome Bluenocturne ;)
Ps:Do you play still PSO?

Thanks! I actually haven't played the Dreamcast version of PSO in around 5 years. This was after I got broadband internet and couldn't find the BB adapter for Dreamcast. The last time I did play online was the PC beta of PSO Blue Burst. I recently tried getting into Phantasy Star Universe, but it just didn't have the same "feeling" and didn't seem to have as many people playing online.
Welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy your stay here! Nice avatar, by the way.

SommedeRie_Man here, in live from France. I'm a great Sega fan for years. My very first video game was Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I was 6. I have played on all Sega systems, excepted the old consoles before the Master System. My mind is that Sega is the best video game company. Don't you realize that? Sega has created Virtua Fighter, Shenmue, Sonic, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Racing, Virtua Cop, Space Harrier and many other revolutionary games. The Dreamcast is the system I like the most. Sega's slogan in France was: "Sega, c'est plus fort que toi!" which means: "Sega is stronger than you!" :)
I'm currently studying mathematics and physics at prep class,in order to enter an engineering school next year. I will take a competitive exam next month.
I like the Japanese culture and am learning the Japanese language. I've passed the JLPT lv.3 (JLPT means Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and intend to pass the 2nd level at the end of the year.
Well that will do for today. ;)

My mind is that Sega is the best video game company. Don't you realize that?
Yes Sega has always been ahead of its time. The world is now catching up to what the Sega Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Channel) offered with the Wii Virtual Console and XBOX Live Arcade. The DreamCast VMU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMU) is also a unique innovation which I think helped start the portable systems being hooked up to the console for content/interaction trend(Game Boy Advance/PSP). I have little doubt a Wii like console would have been released by Sega as well if they had continued to make consoles past the DreamCast.
Sega has created Virtua Fighter, Shenmue, Sonic, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Racing, Virtua Cop, Space Harrier and many other revolutionary games.
Indeed. Sega has not limited themselves in the types of games they create. I still applaud Sega's more accepting policy towards mature content from back in the Genesis/SNES days. This has helped shape video game history.
The Dreamcast is the system I like the most.Sega's slogan in France was: "Sega, c'est plus fort que toi!" which means: "Sega is stronger than you!" :)
That is cool. Just goes to show Sega didn't limit their "in your face" attitude to just the US/Europe. :)
I like the Japanese culture and I'm learning the Japanese language. I've passed the JLPT lv.3(JLPT means Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and intend to pass the 2nd level at the end of the year.
I should learn some Japanese myself but haven't had the time lately. Its possible I may go on vacation to Thailand and Japan this year and have really looked forward to seeing Sega of Japan--or at least some of the Sega inspired stores I've heard about in Japan. I once had a dream to develop video games with Sega, but that dream died once I found out what live was like working as a software developer (which I am now). Now I'm just content being a Sega fan.
Oh and.... Welcome to RadioSEGA! ^_^

Well, I'm not exactly new, but I've been gone for a while, so I thought this would be the best place to announce my re-arrival. Hi! Again. I've been gone for a while, doing random things, (Finishing school, Playing XBOX, being lazy, obsessing over the new Transformers movie ()) and I thought I'd come back to good old RadioSEGA. I think I'm going to start coming back more often, since I've kinda noticed a few new interesting additions Mark's put up.

I'm Neil and I live in Singapore, although I will be heading back to the UK for Uni this year. I've been a fan of Radio Sega for a while, although this is the first time I've used the forums. I found the site via NTSC-UK..
I would say that the Dreamcast is my top Sega system, although I never owned a Saturn (and have always wanted one) as I couldn't afford it at the time. I started out with my Master System then moved onto the Mega Drive.

I'm Carlos. I'm from San Francisco, California and I've been a Sega Fan since I first got my Genesis back in 1991 with Sonic The Hedgehog. I've owned practically every one of their systems, but have missed out on a bunch of games regardless. I'm currently a senior in high school and my favorite Sega system is probably the Genesis. My favorite Sega franchises include Shenmue, Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, Nights, Shining Force, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and so many more.

I'm Juan (aka Tatoon) from Valladolid in Spain... an old school Sega fan.
I love the Sonic games particularly, I had a Master System, Mega Drive & Mega CD in my childhood, missed out the Saturn generation, then got hooked by the Dreamcast. Then, in my collecting phase I got a Saturn, so got to relive some of that generation. My favourite SEGA console was the Dreamcast, the amount of classic games on it - Shenmue, Jet set radio, to name two.
These days, I'm into my Xbox, PS2 and GameCube... and can't wait to get my X360 later in the month (hopefully). PS3? at this moment, noooot... And I love my Nintendo DS Lite too.

Hi everyone, Im Mick!
Im an ex games designer and 3d modeller, currently working as an in house graphic/print designer in Staffordshire, the work is less stressfull and the the games industry just became total *~@!#* to work in.
As well as frantic console collecting im heavilly into classic european cars, music of the rock variety and have been active in the UK Amiga scene for more years than I care to remember.
Im also one of the admin/staff over at www.segasaturn.co.uk (http://www.segasaturn.co.uk/) which is an awesome site with a really friendly community of people behind it.
Also if anyone remembers Red Dwarf? I do some design work for the fanclub and run a search engine at www.smegoo.co.uk (http://www.smegoo.co.uk/)

Hi, I've been a SEGA fan since I was 5 I think, started out on Master System's and was crushed when SEGA pulled out of the hardware market, I think I was nearly 20 at the time. Found the site looking for a SEGA radio stream I could listen to all day and night, and thought I would sign up, hi! ^_^ The name comes from the only real hardware I haven't/don't own, which is the 32x for the MegaDrive (I'm from the UK). Welcome Shane!
Thanks for joining us. Everything isn't too advanced really. I've got three web servers I rent (one for the site & forums, one for the downloads and finally one for the actual radio), and a radio server I own in my house which plays the music, and handles the requests and then sends the output to the radio server I rent, which allows you guys to listen. :)
Dr Shaneman
16-09-2007, 18:37
Ive noticed a few sega radios around the web. i used to listen to sega sonic radio on the sonic stadium but then i found this one. Its the only one with a request system, how does it work if you dont mind me asking?. Also this radio has the best output quality than alot of others. Its not all muffled and quiet.
SegaMark
16-09-2007, 18:41
Basically there's two machines for requests. The server I rent which hosts the website, and the server sat in my house that plays all the music.
Each server has a database with a track listing which are kept in sync. When you click request on this website it sends a message to the server back at my house telling it which song has been requested. The server that plays the music then adds it to the queue to play next.
RadioSEGA probably sounds the best because it maybe uses a higher bit-rate for the stream, RadioSEGA is 64k MONO. With maybe a plan to goto 128k Stereo someday.
Dr Shaneman
16-09-2007, 18:46
Well you can call yourself better than the rest for the request feature then.

Great site, I'm loving it and I'm sure you will too. Welcome Onlysega3
Hi I heard about this place from Retro Gamer magazine its been featured in there a few times so I thought I would join up.
I'm an old school Sega fan from back in the Mega Drive days however I did shun the Saturn and Dreamcast however I did by a second hand DC with some games some years ago and am loving it although I need more games.
Even though Sega are having a tough time these days I still think there are the best and when they pull out all the stops they produce magic.
Hope to enjoy my stay here.
Welcome to RadioSEGA 7Force, need any help I'm sure someone will be more than happy to help you out. Have fun.

Hey there, onlysega3 and 7Force! Enjoy you stay and keep on posting! ;)
Just thought I would drop a quick hello to veryone here at Radio Srag. I am new here as you can guess I have to admit I'm loving the site. Can't wait to get to know the community more.
Welcome to RadioSEGA Novaho, hope you have fun here, I know I do. Very friendly including the people that run it, if you have any problem's don't hesitate to speak up. Have fun! :)
Hello RadioSEGA dudes,
I've been a member for a few weeks now but I haven't formally introduced myself as I had to get rid of a Golem. Dams come in handy if you're interested.
From what I've seen so far this is an excellent site and forum, so I hope to be having some lively discussions with you all, loving the music as I go.
BTW, if RadioSEGA is playing SFIII, PDS, TF4 or SOR2 then it was probably me :P
Cheers!

Hello, I'm Sonic Yoda. I'm 19, working as a caretaker and live in Pinner on the outskirts of Central London. I run this Sonic site: http://sonicyoda.sonicstrike.net and the little Mega Drive mini-site found in the network section. The Mega Drive was the first console that introduced me to games back when I recieved one for Christmas in 1991. Sonic 1 and Mega Games 1 were the first 2 games I owned. My Mega Drive has always been in action since that faithful day :) I now own a Multi-Mega: http://www.obsolete-tears.com/hist/switch_multimega/multimega01.jpg

Welcome Sonic Yoda! :) Now you've got me wondering...
I wonder what your vote would be on the Sega Hardware Vote (http://www.radiosega.net/forum/showthread.php?t=351) thread. ;)

Welcome, Nitrosport2000! Enjoy your stay and believe me, you'll feel right at home around here. We all share those same interests.
Hey everyone. I'm really slow at introductions if people haven't already guessed that. ^-^;;
I'm Kronix... The way I pronounce it is (Cro-nix) I know it's weird. Its like saying crow but not and adding nix at the end. I live in the boring state of Arizona. (I've been living Next-gen before it even existed. Brown does in-fact = realistic. At least for everyone that lives in an ashtray)
I'm a self proclaimed writer. It's something I love to do. (Also the reason I don't want to read anything else so I don't take ideas.) The problem is I'm an extreme procrastinator. That and I can easily get side tracked, but I'm still trying my hardest to cure myself from that. Though I don't think I'm going to get famous from it so I'm actually going to school to be something useful.
I think the top 5 best games are Phantom Dust, Virtual On, Custom Robo, NiGHTS, and Dawn of War. In no particular order.
So yeah... That's brief enough right?
Welcome to RadioSEGA Kronix. Hope your having fun while your here, need any help just ask. ^_^
