According to various sources (mostly UK:R) over the past few days, apparently SEGA is releasing the Saturn II (AKA, the Fanturn) as part of a promotion with Fanta. The image of a SEGA Saturn was noticed on Fanta cans and bottles, (discreet, unknown console maybe?) And a few days later, this image appeared on SEGA Europes Flickr page:

Supposedly this is the revival of the SEGA Saturn.
Genuine? You decide.

*waits impatiently for Segata Sanshiro to resurfrace*

Interesting...I'd be hard-pressed to see the point in it though, unless the consoles are made really cheaply, it could open a new retro market...

I have many a doubt =[ Whilst I would indeed, drink a lake full of fanta to get my hands on one, business wise I can't see a partnership

Why would fanta be giving away a decade old system? Is Sega Saturn still big in the UK? How would they get the old games for it?

I just don't get it

That way my point...perhaps a decade old system is super cheap to produce, or they have warehouses full of them?

They could produce games and replace the main characters with fanta bottles =] Panzer Dragoon Fanta, Virtua Fanta...

I have noticed that the console on the picture on fanta bottles does look a bit like a sega saturn I highly doubt that they would actualy make saturns to give away as prizes.XD

Just seems weird in the first place the fact that picture, if real would be A press shot but it looks like its just sat on someones shelf. Plus the cost of re-making them and the games would be quite expensive. Just don't see it. Though it would be cool. Can only dream.

This is a complete fake, i'd love it to be true but just no way is that the Saturn II. For a start it would be redesigned, not just a Fanta sticker. Fanta are running a competition that involves winning either a PS3 or XBOX 360, the phone on the bottle looks like a Nokia to me, but you win a Sony phone.

I'm afraid to say it's some guy messing with everyone.

Here's the link for the Fanta competition http://want-it-win-it.fanta.co.uk/home/static/how_it_works.jsp

Is it only me, or has no one else noticed that, that's a second hand PAL SEGA Saturn?

EDIT: Also to note, you can see that logo on the front was drawn on with some application like Photoshop or GIMP.

You noticed that too eh? I see before me one of the easiest Photoshop tricks in the book. You see this stuff all over Google and the obvious question here is "Why give away a decade old system as a prize that you can't even buy games for anymore?" except from eBay XD.

"Why give away a decade old system as a prize that you can't even buy games for anymore?"
Better question is, "why is this thread called 'Saturn II' when it obviously deals with a fraudulent competition for free SEGA Saturn's?".

Jeez, way to get my hopes up for half a minute there. I'd have drunk Fanta for the rest of my life if this were true. Also, Kiyuri would've ended up with about ten Saturns the way he downs the stuff.
Anyway, it'd be good to see Saturn games on such things like Live Arcade or the Virtual Console, but I doubt that even with access to all the original specifications and code they'd be able to get the emulation right. (looks forward to PC which can just brute-force the whole thing)

In fairness, they've probably done it because the picture Fanta use for the 360 and PS3 look like a Saturn propped up on its side.

Your thinking of the Japanese Saturn, they had a white console and we had black.

^ They had a gold one as well, if I remember rightly. Think it was a special edition machine, but yeah.

In Japan the white saturn was the later model as the saturn was originaly grey in Japan.

Yeah, I think http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/ spotted that the picture on the the Fanta promo looks like a Saturn, so it's probably come out of that.
