Hi kids!
Having just recently got this game I am stunned by how good it is, has anyone else played it? What do you think? I'd like to raise awareness before it ends up in the forgotten games thread.

This game is overlooked like no other game I know, I don't know anyone who's even mentioned this game in conversation.

I have only been playing for 2 hours and i'm absolutely smitten. Anyway I want your opinions on this game please.

For those who don't know what we're on about here's some gameplay (US Blood version)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYvW-LyqYRY

It's not gonna be forgotten any time soon, instead it's going to be remembered along side Okami as one of the greatest games no one bought... ever, especially in a country obsessed with crap like Brain Training. Rising Star are quickly becoming my favorite publisher in Europe they've got a long way to go yet but they can easily be Europe's Atlus.

Sadly I have yet to get No More Heroes since whenever I get the chance something I want slightly more is available. Shame really my Wii needs all the help it can get to actually be used.

I agree completely, after playing this I think i'll have to buy Killer7.

God I need to buy Killer7 aswell, was originally alittle put off when I heard it was on rails but eh if I can find it, another reason to turn on my Gamecube 1.5.

Of course I can be forgiven slightly for not by NMH and K7 because I have Okami... and GOD HAND.

Hehehe yeah I don't have Okami...yet.

Are you holding out for the Wii version? From what I've heard opinions have been very mixed on it, something to do with the awesome filter used on the game being toned down or removed or something and that the Wiimote sucks except for painting.

p_nut_uk
01-06-2008, 00:06
I've heard the same but they (CVG) say it's a niggle and won't spoil the game, I don't have a PS2 now so i'll have to get the Wii version, to be honest I don't know much about it, but I love odd underground games.

Gavvie

Eurogamer gave both versions of Okami a 10, so I think in the end it's going to be down to personal opinion as to which version you prefer over the other.

Anywho, I will eventually buy No More Heroes, but I think it's gonna have to wait until it's knocked down in price. It's not a game I desperately want, and there's loads of games that I do desperately want, so it's not that important to me whether I get it or not, I'm afraid.

No More Heroes seems to be a cursed game here just like any other good game not for XBOX360 or PS3 here, but worse. Found one copy on the launching week, but unfortunately there were other games I wanted to buy and never seen it since.

GAME's site says it's in stock, so maybe trying to contact them could be an option. Anyway, I've seen some videos p_nut sent me and it looks pretty good. Too bad I've got my money set on some other games at the moment (Lego Indy and Brawl, for example).

Thank god I thought you was gonna say the work experience lads at IGN.

Note: If your wondering what i'm doing on here and not playing No More Heroes it's becuase I played it so much my batteries ran out and my other rechargables are in my poxy work van powering the portable radio.

Yea well MS have an official one yet it doesn't stop wireless controllers being a shit idea.

Meh, they work for me. Less likely to trip over myself when I move away from my chair if they're wireless.

It's only a problem becuase Royal Mail are tight asses and say my van radio not working doesn't require a fix so my batteries are in a radio there.

Meh, they work for me. Less likely to trip over myself when I move away from my chair if they're wireless.

But when your pissed off you can use a lead to swing a pad and gain muched needed leverage to break it.

Doesn't work for me. I overwrote a 120+ hour savefile on FFX once, and threw my PS2 pad down onto a concrete floor in pure anger. Didn't even scratch it.

If you're stupid enough to trip on wires then you deserve it. So far the only wireless control I have is the Wiimote, thanks to the charge and play thing I have for my 360.

Edit: Oh you spent 120 hours of JRPG torture you do deserve to trip over wires.

Ok after reading through the posts it seems like i'm the only one who's played it (so far), is there anyone out there who has played it? And if you haven't played it yet here's a taste of what it's like, this is the 2nd boss you meet. (US version with blood)

Ah finally! I've been championing this game for ages! Yet it seems no one has bought it and i'm afraid firstly that Suda 51 won't make any money and therefore, no other games in future and secondly that gamers are missing out on a brilliant gaming experience.

Yea but in fairness you don't have the European version, which is slightly more important than buying it from other regions, yes it means it sells well overall, but if it's European sales are bad why should Rising Star even bother with his other games?

p_nut_uk
10-06-2008, 18:06
I don't buy European games for good reasons, they charge us mugs more for a start! Why should I pay more? And in the case of this game Rising Star censored it, so too right I won't buy thier version.

They didn't censor it, Suda51 did they just released that version.

Also:

Eurogamer: We can't leave this without asking about the black clouds in the European and Japanese version, as opposed to the blood in the American version. A lot of people feel like our version is censored, but the response has been that this is the original version - so simply, which version do you prefer personally?

Suda 51: Actually, I can't really say which is better. It's an action game, at the end of the day, and in some ways I feel like the black clouds make the European version feel more refreshing and more direct than the American one, when you're playing it. It's really hard to compare, though.

p_nut_uk
10-06-2008, 20:25
He would say that, he wants games to be sold. He was afraid of the game getting banned and to avoid trouble they censored it, after all Killer7 was bloody. I agree with you, I don't think it will ruin the game, but I want blood!

I'm not a blood maniac, I don't even like bloody films. But when someone gets thier arms chopped off, I don't want to see black holes, with all the decapatation and dismemberment I think the game was supposed to have blood. Funnily enough I never bought the game, I had it bought for me.

Rayne
10-06-2008, 20:37
Why not to a Mortal Kombat and have an option to turn the blood on and off?

Personally seeing the blood, it doesn't really fit the game's style, the black clouds look cooler, but it would be nice to have a choice

p_nut_uk
10-06-2008, 20:39
Yeah a choice would have been nice, instead of being told what to have.

Yeah, but the question is: Is the game supposed to be realistic or just plain fun? I see your point but maybe the goal was to make it different from the rest.

Reknoc
10-06-2008, 20:42
Well here's something, isn't the main weapon a Lightsaber style job? When one of them slices through you you don't bleed.

Also about Mortal Kombat, that is one of the few games that needed violence because let's face it the actual gameplay sucked. Honestly the way people cry about NMH it's almost starting to feel like exactly the same case.

I don't own it, or intend to buy it, I just played it at a friends place =] not really worth the money

I don't see the fuss about it, though it seems recently games are cranking up the blood factor to cover the fact the gameplay is flawed (Ninja Gaiden 2 I'm looking at you)

p_nut_uk
10-06-2008, 20:48
Oh the games just for fun, and the blood is not realistic, if the game was realistic you wouldn't have a jackpot reel everytime you decapatated someone, it's a game that loves being a game, loads of rip offs from franchises like Star Wars and Apple. And Reknoc, lightsabres aren't real. I don't care what region you guys want to play No More Hereos on, just play it! You're only cheating yourself of a great gaming experience.

It's not as much as camera trouble, but I'm still trying to get the camera controls right (some mix up between Z and C mainly). I'm going to the rank 7 battle and up until now I'm enjoying the game.

It's certainly a fun game, well...

Ok so to save the game you go to the toilet, fair enough Dead Rising did this though you didn't see Frank take his trousers down and sit on the loo, takes too bloody long I just want to save. Charging the beam sword is rather unnecessarily graphic. I hate that bike HATE! I didn't like doing this shit on Headhunter and I'm not going to magically enjoy it now. No quick restart option "oh what's that I failed the job? Now I have to ride all the way back to the Assassin place? That's enough of this game for now". Travis Touchdown is a prick, I really can't stand a game if I don't like the character I'm controlling. Hate that stupid riff that plays during every fucking screen transistion.

Other than that it's fun and the Wii controls work well (except when it ignores your movements during throws).

So I been playing abit of this recently, had some fun doing the 8th rank fight (I think, it was Shinobu). Then almost immediatly the game stops being fun, this game manages to be both awesome and shit at the same time. It would mean the game would be shorter and wouldn't much help the repetativness but the inbetween sections should just have been cut.

Guess the game will go back to collecting dust till I can be bothered to put up with it's boring ass grinding.

The grinding is annoying, it would've been better with more bosses and less of the grinding, hopefully they'll fix it in the sequel.

It makes me want to cry that something this good spends too much time being crap.

Oh the Slots after a kill? Worthless, only ever seem to get anything when everyones dead or enemies are on the otherside of a long hallway and it's long since ran out.

You should just be able to activate it whenever, but maybe that would have made it useful and that's not what the game wants.

I don't even hate the Job Centre and K-Entertainment missions they're fun the first time, it's just the 100 times after that when you have to keep doing them becuase you need way too much money to enter the next fight.
It's like if Mario Bros. forced you to keep playing level 1-1 because you need 1000000000 points before you can enter 1-2.

Yeah, the job centre ones were actually quite fun at times (I particularly enjoyed the wall cleaning and the scorpion catching jobs) but they should have paied a lot more.
