Hey hi all =] I've just purchased a great Sega Saturn bundle, and I am now looking for some games, however (here comes the dilema!) I've very little knowledge about the saturn itself, and what games are worth buying

Right now I have:

NiGHTS
Clockwork Knight
DBZ Legends
Virtua Cop 2 (With gun <3)
Battle Arena Toshinden
Pandemonium
World Cup Golf
Virtua Racing
Sega Rally Championship

I'm chasing down Sonic R, Sonic Jam & Panzer Dragoon, and drooling at Panzer Dragoon Saga (Is it worth the vast ammounts of money its being sold for?)

So are there any other saturn owners out there with suggestions? =]

Hmmm yes I think Panzer Dragoon Saga is worth the money, and you can always sell it when your done with it. Well as for other games...
Virtua Fighter 2 and/or Fighters Megamix
Guardian Heroes (My favourite game ever)
Burning Rangers
Street Fighter Alpha 2

Those above are must haves in my opinion, there are so many great games. Also if you want to find some great rare games get an action replay 4-in-1 which is a RAM cart and a region unlocker in one, that way you can play some great Japanese games such as...
Pocket Fighter (Look if up if you don't know what it is, not many do)
X-Men vs. Streetfighter
Street Fighter Alpha (Zero) 3
Metal Slug (Although it's available elsewhere)

If you want more just ask:)

This site (http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2007/01/best-sega-saturn-games-for-today-top.html) agree's with some of the things I said.

I would love more =]

I may get Panzer Dragoon Saga, that'd be a great one for the collection...what's burning rangers? ^__^" all that pops into my head is power rangers

Is the RAM cart thing pretty hard to find? Would it be on ebay, or would I have to hunt for it? =3

As for the 4-in-1 i'm not sure, you need the 4-in-1 because of it's region unlocker, i'm afraid you can try eBay and hope, I think Action Replay were the only ones who did it.

Burning Rangers is a BRILLIANT game by Sonic Team where you play these futuristic fire fighters and it's hard to explain, has great anime cut scenes with brilliant gameplay, great graphics (for the time), groovy music and excellent replay value becuase the levels change all the time. See the intro below...

As for other games...
Dead or Alive (Japanese Only)
Deep Fear (Sega's Resident Evil, last game released in Europe)
Destruction Derby (Classic, should be cheap)
Die Hard Arcade (Short Spiritual Streets of Rage sucessor)
Duke Nukem 3D
Fighting Vipers (Same folks who did Virtua Fighter)
King of Fighters '95, '96 or '97 (Jap only)
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (Jap only)
Radient Silvergun (Jap nly)
Rayman
Shining Force III
Shining The Holy Ark
Street Fighter Collection (Jap only)
Virtual On
X-Men: Children Of The Atom (Done by capcom)

You'll play Sega Rally and realise why I say it's the BEST racer EVER.

The Capcom VS. games are all awesome, Virtual On is great too as mentioned. Daytona USA looks pretty dodgy but plays amazingly. There's also Last Bronx, Fighting Vipers and Fighters Megamix if you're into fighters. As for SEGA AGES there's a load of titles like OutRun, Space Harrier, Power Drift and Fantasy Zone which are pixel perfect ports of the classic games. Way better than any MD port.

Daytona! You must get Daytona USA and Daytona USA - CCE. I love those on the Saturn. Now for my little list for you:

Rayman
Super puzzle Fighter
Puyo Puyo SUN
Sonic R
Sakura Taisen Columns

There's more but that's ones I'd recommend.

Yeah, Sonic R's a good choice. Also, you can't go wrong with Sonic Jam, though obviously do be aware that it's the Mega Drive Sonic games, along with a 3D hub world with a few places to explore.

Burning Rangers and Fighters MEGAMiX are games I'd suggest. If I'm being honest I don't think you're gonna need another fighting game after Fighters MEGAMiX, because it's basically Virtua Fighter and Fighting Vipers rolled into one game, with lots of extra characters. Very recommended.

To be honest besides the DBZ fighters I can't get into them...every time I've ever played Street Fighter I'll be waving my arms attempting to throw a fireball, or virtua fighter, I'll struggle to throw a punch! XD

Sonic R will be great fun with 2 controllers I think =] I had it on PC but only played Single Player, Sonic Jam seems a good one..

xD looks like Sega Rally is a must have! I've also tracked down the max replay cart thing? That should let me play JAP games, hopefully the price will stay low =]

Does this cart have the ram built in too? If it doesn't then you can't get Metal Slug, or most of the Capcom 2D fighters

I'd say check out Blazing Heroes/Mystaria if you're into RPGs. I once owned it and it was a really fun play, unfortunately I lost it somewhere since I was only like 5 or 6 when I first bought my Sega Saturn and lost a ton of games when I moved from California to Florida. I love Virtua Cop 2 with gun play. You're lucky! If you're going to pick up a fighter pickup Virtua Fighter 2. It's my favorite in the series and plays quite well.

Radiant Silvergun is a must! And if you don't want to buy the expensive PAL version of Panzer Dragoon Saga, then go for the NTSC version.
Dragon Force is also highly recommended. Shining the Holy Ark is also good if you spend some time with it.

I have to agree, Radiant silvergun is possbly one of the best shooters available, & possibly on any system. It usualy commands a hefty price & you'd need a JAP Saturn or similar to play it. However, There are still other great shooters available: Sexy Parodius (don't let the name put you off!), Sengoku Blade, Dodonpachi, & Gunbird to name but a few.

Panzer Dragoon Saga..... Do believe the hype! It is deffinatley worth picking up. (Trust Me, I'm Playing it at the Moment!) It's Just a shame that it came along in such limited numbers, at a point when lots of people were ditching the saturn in favour of other Newer machines.

One game I'd def. recommend is the original Tomb Raider. It's far better than any of the others. The storyline is excellent, the suspense and the level design are also very good.
Christmas Nights is well worth having as well as the original.
Panzer Dragoon Zwei is a stronger game than the original, so look out for that.
I'd totally agree with suggestions above such as

Virtua Fighter 2 and/or Fighters Megamix (VF2 is more playable though)
Guardian Heroes
Street Fighter Alpha 2 (probably the best Street fighter game ever!)
Die Hard Arcade (Short Spiritual Streets of Rage sucessor)

amongst many others...

Chrismtas Nights is amazing! I love the way the weather changes =] having Sonic there...its so deeper than it looks

I always wanted Christmas NiGHTS when I had a Saturn, but never bought the Saturn magazine which came with the game, and didn't want to pay the extortionate prices that eBay were showing at the time.

Shame.

Damn Awesome game! Although I didn't have to part with piles of cash to get mine (I was given it!:P) , I'd happily go and hunt a copy down tommorow if something terrible happened to this one!

Know what bugged me about dracula X? Walking up stairs XD Instead of just jumping on them, besides that one fault, it was an astounding game

Never found that to be a problem. I just realised how good the music is though, when it moves seamlessley from all eerie & classical to funky techno!
Even the Save points are really well done when they break up & spin to form a 3D coffin... Maybe It's just Me, but it was criminal not to give this a proper Uk release!

I'm happy with the fact that the game never was given a PAL release for the Sega Saturn. Think how much more the game is worth as a collectors item because of this;)
