Hey. :) Since I'm still new and all I thought I'd post something about a game I like but I kinda have a question to go with it.

Im a major SF fan. Shining In The Darkness included but it always confused me as to why SF3 never had parts 2-3 come to the EU. Anyone know why?

:/ I have part 1 so im happy but I always wondered.

I believe it had to do with the lifespan of the Sega Saturn. By the time they were getting ready to bring it over, it was time to move on from the Saturn.

I've become a major Shining Force fan in later days. Currently playing SF3 and The Holy Ark on my Saturn. Tried Shining Wisdom, but thought it was shit.

Kind of liked the GBA remake of the first one. Hope they make a DS remake of SF2, but doesn't seem likely since I don't think the GBA remake selled very well.

Shining Force is an awesome series. Unfortunately the only one I played on a console was Shining Force 2. Shining Force, its remake and Shining Force 3 were all played on emulators. Also, Shining Force games seem almost impossible to find.

Thus why us fans really tend to love the games hardcore.

Id also not call Sega on anything new on the Shining Force games. Even the GBA game is bad in my opinion (cardgames -_-)

Shining Force is an awesome series and well deserved of the love of the fans. What really bugs me is that a certain point I had the opportunity to grab Shining Force II and III, but didn't.

3 Comics. Silly little things ^_^ Kinda cool hehe.

Its not "Outdated" as the game is hyper old. Its just my fave game of all time so i hunted a long time for it and such. :) No game ever made me giggle becouse it had a vampire called "Lemon" :D

The reason they wont is becouse of 2 key factors unfortunatly.

1/ Sega have changed the brand to a Gauntlet style game. See Shining Soul for a example. They even tried a Dynasty Warrior style with Shining Force EX (which i was so ******* angry about that i swore for 3 ******** months at how they ******** my wounderful Shining Force game down the toilet *pants in anger)

2/ NIS basicly OWN the Tactical/SRPG sector with Disgaea/Makai Kingdom/Phantom Brave/Soul Nomad. Disgaea is the most popular anime based game in the UK now and i doubt NIS will let that go without a fight. Sega know better then to mess with the fans they lost.

Unfortunately SEGA stepped away from the original and tried to change the series. I never understood why they changed a good series into one what it's today.

It would be nice if they ported Shining Force 3 or even make a true Shining Force 4, but chances are hell will be frozen first.:(

:(
But Sega should try anyway :P

The other reason i should mention is Camalot. They went of to Nintendo to make the Golden Sun games. You'll see the heavily Shining Force style graphics and gameplay elements in that ironicly but its not the same. Kiwi and Gort are gone forever. No more Yorgert and no more Bowie. :(

The good thing though is that it does make what has become my dream game all the nicer to play when i feel down. ^_^

I think they changed the style of Shining Force in a similar way that Final Fantasy games change with each game. They try to come up with new systems to run the series by, just like Shining in the Darkness was a dungeon crawler as opposed to Shining Force which leads as a Tactical RPG.

I can understand that, but please make a good one. Shining Force is a SRPG at heart, not a hack and slash.

Thats not Sega's take on it. The Shining In The Darkness game was originaly going to be a set of 3 (In the darkness, in the shadows and in the light). When they asked fans what they were currently playing in Japan, most were playing Fire Emblem. Knowing this, they created Shining Force, a different story arc following the "Jewels And Betrayal Of Evil". This was the original reason it changed to TRPG :)

Remember that FF didn't change style till they lost there f-ing mind and decided to "Reinvent the wheel and cause it to burst into flames" (angry RPG fan moment).

And i hug my shining force 3 too. :) Love it soo much.

Any advice to kill the last boss in SF 3(Scenario 1)? I can't kill him

Not that far as myself and a friend have been doing video walkthroughs for the whole game on our first play-through. Its taken nearly 95 hours to get half way with all the editing. :D

By the way, how does this scenario system works in SF3? Does the first part ends in a "to be continued" or is there a real end in it? (Please don't spoil any details though) I've been worried that the game might end in an abrupt way any time now, and I won't be able to see the real ending.

If you have the UK verson, thats it.

Otherwise (US/JP verson) you get the second game and it will use the save data you have from it to add the heroes you saves/obtained from the last game too it + your new levels to it too. :)

Oh I was just speculating, I had no evidence. I'm curious as to where you found out about the different Shining games though (maybe where you read that), you seem to know the history pretty well, and that could help me with an article I'm working on. I wouldn't want to be lead by incorrect assumptions.

Also it seems polls are really heavily used by Sega in decision making.
