That is great! I wonder if they'll put in the video's from the station version. They were cool.

I can't see why they wouldn't. I mean, I'm assuming the DS' media cartridge should be big enough.

Oh wow, let's hope this time it makes it to Europe. :D

Now do Terranigma next Squenix!

Just in case that tiny snippet (http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/07/02/chrono-trigger-ds-for-real/) from Shonen Jump magazine and a countdown site (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ctds/) wasn't enough confirmation for you doubting Thomases, Square Enix just pumped out a press release detailing its ZOMG MEGATON DS version of Chrono Trigger.

Judging by this, the DS iteration will look and sound very much like the SNES game -- Akira Toriyama's artwork will make the jump, for example, as will Yasunori Mitsuda's musical score. It's also being tweaked here and there to suit the DS's feature-set, so there'll be full touchscreen functionality, dual screen presentation, and most intriguingly, a wireless play mode, the details of which have yet to be fleshed out. Oh, and there's a brand new dungeon planned as well. Not exactly a straight port, then, but also not a dramatic remake.

And here's the best bit: the game will be hitting North America this Holiday season. Better get saving.

I can't wait for it. Is it a remake or a sequel?

OMG! O_O! This will be right on my DS on launch day! But I hope it comes out on Europe... (Because I heard a rumor that it won't come out in Europe...)

Neither its a port.

Does it really matter? Unless it has wifi you might aswell just the US version, get it in a better case that way.

Neither its a port.

That sucks. It should be released on the virtual console then. That would make much more sense.:(

Yea this probably means it stands no chance of coming on to VC which is good since VC isn't region free.

Yeah, but the price on the ds can be anything between 20£-30£ (30€-45€) while on the VC it would be around 7£(10€) I think... -_-

Well its about £7 for 1000 points and SNES games are cheaper than that I think, but at least if it's on the DS I know it'll be available (and portable).

also:

My guess would be DQIX is not coming out this year so Squeenix needed something quick and popular to plug the gap.

Sounds about right.

Finally a chance of playing this game in a console. If it doesn't come to Europe ... thank goodness the DS is region free. Need to get this game.

No! Bad Shadid! *gets rolled up newspaper*
If this game sells well hopefully Squenix will see the error in their ways and give us a third game!

There are some upgrades planned to the game, so hopefully some more will be implemented to truly make it worth my money when the time comes.

Yeah, I mean, a fan base clearly exists out there for the Chrono franchise; the only questions that surround it, IMO, is how big is it and is it big enough to make a third game logical for Square Enix as a business?

Did I sense some irony there? :P

I can't say I disagree with you beause it really looks like a perfect port. I think they even recorded this footage from a SNES! (Because the DS has 2 screens and the trailer only shows 1, you know... just kidding!:P) but the trailer reminded me of playing it and now I think I'm going to buy the game.
I also remembered the car race in the future. Maybe it was the first RPG with a car race! XD

It does, I wouldn't have minded seeing what the second DS screen shows, though if it's anything like Final Fantasy then bugger all. Hopefully the touch screen will be the menu so you don't have to pause the game while doing out of battle healing.
