I think an interesting choice this week by Schezo as it's our first Mega/Sega cd game as I'd like to know how many people will actually do this one. Heres some info about the game:

Lords Of Thunder (known as Winds of Thunder [1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lords_of_Thunder#cite_note-dates1-0) in Japan) is a shoot em up by Hudson soft and Red entertainment for the Turbo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurboGrafx-16#TurboGrafx-CD) grafix cd which was released in 1993[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lords_of_Thunder#cite_note-4). It was later ported to the Sega CD on the same year.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lords_of_Thunder#cite_note-5). It was released on the Virtual Console (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Console) on February 7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_7), 2008 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008) in PAL regions and on February 11 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_11), 2008 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008) in the North America. It is the unofficial follow-up to Gate of Thunder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gate_of_Thunder).

Gameplay

The game is centered around the world Mistral's confrontation with the re-awakened evil god Zaggart and his minions who have torn the world asunder. A god-knight known as Landis sets off to defeat Zaggart's army in 7 different stages, the first six of which can be selected in a Mega Man level select style. Once the stage is selected, the player selects one of four armors to use, affecting his shots and bombs.
Fire Armor: Heavy forward fire. Bomb seeks out enemies for a short time.
Earth Armor: Powerful diagonal shots. Ideal for areas with many powerful ground- and ceiling-based enemies. Bomb briefly attacks entire screen.
Water Armor: Straight shots with some rearward range (unlimited range both forwards and backwards at full power). Bomb attacks a circle centered on Landis.
Wind Armor: Piercing shots with a forward wave pattern at full power. Bomb attacks a column centered on Landis.
Once the armor is chosen, the shopkeeper screen appears, where the player can purchase extra life, armor power, shields, bombs, continues, and elixirs (restore life to full if taken to 0 life). To purchase power-ups, coins are necessary. The player starts with 300 coins, and gains more coins by gathering crystals left by slain enemies (5 coins for a blue crystal, 25 for a red) and defeating bosses (500-800 coins, dependent on the boss in question).

Is it possible to play this on an emulator? =/ I've had trouble with Saturn & PS1 (disc systems) and I'm unsure if the Sega CD has anything avaliable..

It is easy, all you need are the BIOS files and an MD emulator. Even my PC (toaster) can run them. If you want any of the files or anything just ask.
First Mega CD game then eh? Should be fun to try out.

BIOS...that's very computer-ish, I'm sure I was taught it once  maybe I'll pass

It is really easy you just download the bios, click on bios on your options on your emulator of choice and click on wherever you've saved it. Job done

I just downloaded this from the Virtual Console and all I can say is I hope it's easier for the SEGA CD becuase damn this is one hard mother of a game! I'm just downloading it now for the Mega CD, I hope it's easier otherwise it'll ruin the game which is really enjoyable when you're alive.

Edit: Bad news, it's just as hard on the Mega CD, which is a shame becuase it could be so excellent, and I was really wanting it to having just spent £5.80 on the Virtual Console for it. I don't think it's me being crap at it, it's just too difficult to be fun.

You stole my reply! XD

Seriously, the game is hard as hell. When I even try it...what happened?
"GAME OVER" right in a second. But I gave it a 3...Wait! The configuration menu only has Normal, Hard and...Super? No Easy mode? 2 for that one! :P

Hahaha yeah as if Normal wasn't hard enough, I wonder if the screen would appear if you put it on Super? But it's a good game but just too hard for me.

Don't know if it's just me but I quite like this, but I'm not too bad at shooters. Liked the graphics and the shop inbetween levels to upgrade. Don't like only having the one life but it's manageable. And I like the anime and the soundtrack. I'll give it a 3. I'd give it more but as enjoyable as I found it I can think of a few other shooters I enjoy more.

I've had to give it a 2 out of 5 i'm afraid, the difficulty just made it unenjoyable and no-one wants to play a game if they can't progress. That's my view anyway. It had great potential.

You guys really think it's that hard? I'm not too good at shooters, but I can easily make it through at least 2 or 3 levels without too much effort. Hint: It's usually easier with the water armor.

Personally I really like this game. The system with buying stuff and loosing power by getting hurt works great, the music is ace, and the graphix are nice. And it's challenging. Best shmup on the Sega CD I've played. This is a 4 in my oppinion. Only thing dragging it down is the balance between the diferent armors, which is a bit off.
