Discussion on the upcoming Resident Evil CGI Feature Length Movie

New details and a new trailer has been confirmed: http://uk.dvd.ign.com/articles/893/893044p1.html

Personally for me, this is looking to be bigger and more exciting than FFVII Advent Children, I am so hyped its unbelievable ^__^

The animation from the trailer looks first class, we have Leon, and I just can't get over how they've got it right, every videogame movie should be done in this type of CGI, whilst I enjoyed the Previous Resident Evil movies, this is the great direction they needed to take to really capture the image of the games.

Its set to be late 08 DVD release for the USA, so we'll have it in who knows when...I'll be sure to import ASAP :P

The only thing I hope for is good voice acting and Gore, not too much gore but you know...enough. This sort of movie I'd look to watch in English rather than Japanese, so hopefully they'll be okay.

Thoughts? =]

Ah cool news. I really enjoyed other Resident Evil films and this one looks very enjoyable to.

Eh, graphically it looks kind of meh. If there's no gameplay then really whats the point? Resident Evil has always been poorly written but atleast I had fun playing it and could easily skip through any files, or "plot" hanging around.

Also why is Leon so popular? Billy should have been in the film instead since he's the best damn Resident Evil character ever.

They'll never beat the plot or scripting of the first game!

If they did a two hour movie based on the first game done like the original opening I'd watch that.

While the series may have been poorly written that doesn't mean there's not a cult following of the story line. I wish they would have just made the Live Action movies based on the actual story line of the games instead of the garbage they threw in our faces. I don't understand why most film directors don't do this to begin with. Surely it won't be that difficult to make a 4-8 hour game's story line fit into a 3 hour time frame.

I'm very excited about this movie and have been keeping tabs on it since last year. I can't wait.

Corrupt Corporation, Deadly Virus, Zombies, Heroes Trapped, not only that but trapped in an AIRPORT XD

That's movie gold me boy

As for Leon, its all down to the fringe I think :P that's what makes him look cool...maybe? Resi 4 was my fave of the series, though we need more live action acting in games!

Personally, I think the CG and animations look nowhere as good as Advent Children. Not even quite as good as Spirits Within. But then again, I haven't seen this in DVD quality.

Thought I don't think that AC or SW were very great movies, at least they looked like movies. Damn beatiful movies. This however, based on the trailer, looks like a game. Not a movie, but a game. A damn beatiful game, off course. But not as beatiful as a high-budget 3D animated CG Movie.
If you go for a realistic style of 3D animation it's really hard to make real-looking humans. That's why Pixar made movies about Toys, Ants, Fishes, and cars.

Aside from that, it might be a very good movie. Or at least better than those other three RE movies. I haven't even cared to see the 3rd one yet.

Too bad it's about Leon. Never really liked him to begin with. Chris would have been cooler (especially if Barry were to give him a hand.)

Well it would be quite tough, since most of Resident Evils "plot" is given through letters/folders/secret documents people leave around whatever place is full of zombies.

I'm in no rush to buy this, maybe after like Resident Evil 5 comes out and I feel like a Resident Evil binge... actually probably not even after then because I can ignore whatever crap Capcom spewed up and go about shooting things.

The 3rd Resident Evil has been the best to date to be honest =] I thought it was really good, tied with number two...just a bit better though...

From the trailer it doesn't have the spark that AC had...but then again, I spent so much time drooling over AC I never understood the story, I had to watch it through a further 10 times to realize, there wasn't one XD not one really worth paying attention to anyway.

Being fair, the people that will be buying this DVD (note DVD, not going into a cinema) will be fans of the game, so to see it looking like a game will probably please, ne?

If it matches Spirits Within I'll be happy :) to this day that movie still looks fantastic, again weird on story, but very cool looking.

Chris is cool XD but I think Leon is more popular, Resi 4 brought a lot of new people into the franchise

I read a book of the first game and that was alright, the story held up reasonably well outside of tit's original gaming setting. As you said, getting all the huances of the plot which are revealed through notes and stuff would still be tricky in a film.

Im looking forward to this. Hopefully it will adhere to the games plot A little better than the movies did. Even though looking back the acting in the original game was so poor it made me want to gouge my eye's out. " easy for you, the master of unlocking".

Haha :D Just watched it tonight! Appologise for this but:

ZOMG!

*cough*

The movie was stunning, animation was really beautiful and realistic. The plot was good, characters kick-ass and well....its what the previous Resident Evil movies should have always been :P I simply can't recommend it enough, to anyone, not just Resi fans.

Leon is just too cool >_>

Great movie, indeed. Good action sequences, stunning graphics and best of all, a good story that actually have a connection with the games. If you haven't seen it yet, go see it. Highly recommended.

I saw this with a friend some time ago. Thought it was pretty good but nothing that special. Manny times better than the first RE movies, of course, but it felt like the CG had a little too tight budget. The 3D models could need some work, and the animations were a bit too stiff at times. But, hey, as long as the movie was good, that's all that matters.

Culdn't help but to hate that girl cop (forgot her name). Felt like a stupid character imo, and I hope she'll stay out of the games.

I thought the character models were amazing  I can't think of anything I've seen that's better.

The girl cop ws annoying, anyone else think she looked like Angelina Jolie (sp?)?

Watched this afew weeks ago and loved it. I'm a RE fan so of course I was going to like it. I've bought it on Blu Ray already! Much better than the live action movies!
