(NOTE: This thread will not serve for sharing ROMs or ISOs of Sonic 1 Megamix, this only serves as tribute thread since the game's officially discontinued.)

I've been playing Sonic 1 Megamix for about two months and I thought: "Wow, this game's almost a real Sonic game, despite that is a hack of the first one" and I got into it since version 3.0. Then I tried the older versions and I got addicted to the games. Until I saw this YT video last night:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0NtE_JTQPM

The game, after being on the Mega Drive on the earlier versions, has been ported to the Mega/Sega CD so that players can burn a copy to play on a real one. And as of August 13th, the project has officially been discontinued, making this version 4.0 of the game the final version of the game.

What are your thoughts on this?

I think it's a real shame that this project was discontinued. It could've turned out to be highly awesome. I hope it will in fact be continued someday. :x

Yeah, I hope too. Besides, some of things that were awesome was the levels, the mix of the songs from other MD games and the Super forms (Being Shadow's Super form my favorite :3) I think they now introduced some Megaman and other game's songs (e.g Yu Yu Hakuzo. NOTE: I'm getting killed if I spelled that wrong. XD) and convert it into 16-bit, and that's awesome.

It's a shame the team couldn't resolve their arguments and split up (read Tweaker's post on S2BETA) as I really enjoyed this hack. Nice it got a Mega CD port though, not been done before in the ROM hack world. I ripped the Megamix soundtrack if anyone is interested by the way.

Too bad that some songs in the game aren't SEGA related and the game's not SEGA licensed, or else, you could add them to the RS playlist.

If you look around some already have been, like some remixed stuff. Some from Remastered as well.

You're not the only one there, Skunk. X3
Besides, it could be a game tribute.

Looks nice, but it seems like it has it's fair share of bugs. Level design seemed a bit boring though.

Well, it isn't the full and complete release, so you can't expect it to be bug-less.

I'll try and rip the Mega CD version soon. My new job takes up my whole life at the moment though.

I've played through the newest version...Yes, it has some crashes here and then, but the game's a full awesomeness around it. If there was a poll, I would give it 5/5. It made a awesome goodbye in a remarkable way. *claps*

Well the main ones I'd say for now are:
Megamix
Remastered
Delta

There's some real good ones in development at the moment though so that list will grow.

I played this game and I couldn´t believe it, a very good game, and challenging XP

I never played an excellent hack like this...

Each character had his own abilities and was nice to see.
The difficulty of the game was interesting, and I liked it.
The designs of the zones, really good made. Even the design of the levels helped the difficulty =D

They chose good tracks for the game, not every of them fit perfectly with a zone.
But I admit, the remix of the final boss from Columns 3 for Shadow´s super form, fits perfectly n_n

A pity that the project was cancelled =(

I think that who plays this game, they'll probably lean to Shadow and his Super form. XD

What's to hate?
One sertain tile in Starry Night Zone that traps me upside down inside the wall every time I get there, and some fuzzy hit-areas.

Aside from that, this is a really nice and enjoyable game.

(On a side note: I'm now downloading the soundtrack. It's taking too much time! >_<)
I've played through this game and still no complaints. Overall, it's a really a must-play game. I'll probably do a video review on this. XD

It took me over two hours to upload the bloody thing XD.
Yeah the game is roc solid in my opinion, apart the that bug in Starry Night Zone but it was in the last build too so I'm not too annoyed by it.

Thanks to Dr. Shaneman I tried Megamix for Mega CD.

I couldn´t enjoy the game very well because I have others things in my mind now, but looks better than the Genesis one =)

The graphics have changes, and also I think the design of the levels.
Played with Sonic, until Misty Maze, that stage is too long and hard so I stopped here.

Really I found Misty Maze to be quite easy, it's probably one of the better looking stages on the game. Only problem I have is that the last stage Act 3 is a total ass.

Also Starry Night is awesome but is too short. :(

Oh yes, the stage itself is one of the best in design.
Well, the whole zone is hard, specially the act 3 for me.

Starry Night is one of the best if you want run & run, and yes, is too short.
