Okay! I've got 900 Microsoft Points to waste and I'd like to know any recommendations anyone here has! So please, start yelling random words at me and I will consider the deep, hidden meanings behind them!
I think I went overboard with the exclaimation marks there, I apologise...
Well, you asked >:3
Castlevania SOTN: Fantastic Action RPG - Metroid with Vampires
N+ - Fairly addictive, rubbish multi-player, but overall fun
Streets of Rage 2 - Hilarious on co-op, great fun :3
Golden Axe - Streets of Rage 2 with easier achievements and magic xD
Small Arms - Super Smash Brothers clone, teddies, guns, cheap fun :3
Lumines - Crazy techno puzzle game, freaky fun
Rez HD - Lumines with guns XD its an interesting on the rails shooter
Ikaruga - It oozes style, hardcore shmup ;)
Trigger Heart - Interesting schup, great anime visuals and soundtrack
Uno - the most mellow game ever, its actually really fun o_O" cheap too
Track & Field - Lord knows why this is addictive, button bashing madness
TMNT Arcade - Everyone with me now "TEENAGE MUTA-ahem..." Hardcore arcade, cheap, funny, but frustrating in parts.
Undertow - Like Star Wars Battlefront underwater :D

What has Rez got in common with Lumines in your head rayne? They don't seem obviously similar to me.

Its sort of the Lumines style meets Tron >_> with guns...
Bionic Commando Rearmed. That's it. XD
Streets of Rage III, Rez and Ikaruga are worth your points:)

I downloaded it when microsoft were giving it away for free.:) I think it was because MS had fluffed up an update and caused alot of server down-time.XD

Can't believe I havn't seen anyone say Pac Man C.E. BEST.ARCADE.GAME.EVAR!!
Hmm, something seems off...
R.Type on XBLA is pretty awesome, I played the trial version. Not sure if I want to spend 1200 points on R.Type though.
The infinite lives mode is perfect for people like me. :(
Minesweeper Flags is out this week for 400 Points. Fuck yeah!
...or not. To be honest, I'd love to see DOOM II on there. That'd be nice.

Its on its way, along with Final Doom.
All I want is Banjo Tooie :P
Really? DOOM II and Final DOOM are coming to XBLA? Where's it say that?
And yeah, I can't wait for Banjo Tooie either, that's gonna be ace :D

Would rather see Quake to be honest.
Quite looking forward to Tooie and Uno RUSH, since I missed getting Tooie on the N64.

Its Kazooie but ten times better.
Uno Rush will be good :P need more Uno.
I'm fairly sure Doom II & Final were on several release schedules, I don't like the game so didn't bother saving links.

Dude, I'd kill for Doom II. As for the thread topic (if you haven't bought a game yet...), I'd go with Doom. I find it easier with the joypad instead of the compy keyboard. And it still has the same Doom fun from the 90's.

Anyone know when Outrun hits? I shouldn't buy it given I can't see how an XBLA title will be better than the existing Xbox Outrun 2, but who knows. Maybe it'll be another of those GB or so downloads as Watchmen was.

Someone metioned on the im new thread it's out on april 15th.
Yeah, tis. It's Wednesday April 15th, as part of the Days of Arcade thing that Microsoft are running.
No idea how much it'll cost, mind, but I reckon 800 Points should be an acceptable amount.

I have a feeling that it'll be 1,200. Just a hunch...
I'll put bets that Outrun will be 1600
No way will it be 800 I'm afraid :P ridiculous to think that 800 is now seen as the cheap price point.
Eurogamer seem to have it in their heads that £7'll be the going rate, which I believe is 800 points. They said in a recent hands on that it's half the content of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, and isn't much of a visual upgrade on that game, so it's not going to command a high price point.
We'll see though. Nobody's announced pricing as yet, but it shouldn't be too long until we find out.

Having minor upgrades and little innovation in gameplay hasn't stopped them before

Anyone thinking 800 points is going to be rather disappointed, there is no way in hell it'll be that cheap. 1200 at the least.

Just a quick question regarding live. Can you purchase games from live if you only have a silver account or do you need a gold account?

Silver is fine, but you have to wait a week after release.
FYI Bionic Command: Rearmed is the deal of the week for Gold members, 50% off an awesome game.

Silver only prohibits on-line play and a handful of Gold-only bonuses such as the on-going 1 vs. 100 beta games. Remember that you can purchase Live in increments as small as one month, though it'll be more expensive that way -- about $7US or so. Still, for someone looking to just be able to play 360 games and maybe play on-line once in a blue moon when a certain game is released, it's not that bad of an option.
After about nine months now, I have the following XBLA games that I can recommend:
Gunstar Heroes
Ikaruga
Space Invaders Extreme
Carcassonne
TMNT 1989 Arcade
Castle Crashers
Paperboy
Bionic Commando: Rearmed
UNO
Bomberman LIVE
Ms. Pac-Man
OutRun Online Arcade
Galaga Legions
Space Giraffe
Chessmaster Live
TotemBall -- FREE GAME
Worms
A Kingdom for Keflings
Aegis Wing -- FREE GAME
Triggerheart Exelica
Pac-Man Championship Edition
Assault Heroes
Geometry Wars Evolved2
Jetpac Refueled
Catan
Pinball FX
Mega Man 9
Golf: Tee It Up!
Dash of Destruction -- FREE GAME
Braid
Mr. Driller Online
Rez HD
Contra
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Streets of Rage 2
Dig Dug
Hexic HD -- FREE GAME
Pac-Man
Note the games marked "FREE GAME" are just that and are of various quality, though the only one I can see me having paid for is Aegis Wing. There are others I'm interested in as well such as Virtual On 2 and Flock that I've yet to pick up. I've also been loving the Community Games channel and have about 15-20 games from it. I've been happy with all of my XBLA games except for Chessmaster due to a somewhat buggy ruleset and AI and Kingdom for Keflings which kept me entertained long enough to make me feel as if I've got my money's worth, but there's not much to it.
Only Dash of Destruction is, out of those free games, available in EU.
I wouldn't recommend any of the Megadrives ports, as nearly all of them are available and cheaper to get on the collection, same for the Namco stuff aswell.

That stinks. I wish Microsoft would stop giving Europe and abroad the shaft, but that seems pretty standard fare when it comes to foreign companies dealing with Europe. :P :(

Gunstar Heroes isn't available on the Ultimate Megadrive Collection, and neither disc supports on-line features -- at least I'm positive the UMC doesn't; not sure about the Namco collection. For whatever reason, Backbone can only be bothered to enable on-line play with its XBLA releases.

Microsoft probably treat Europe the best out of the 3.

Yea but the online features aren't all that good, the collection is much better value for money. Even without Gunstar Heroes.
I don't even think you can count Hexic HD as being worth a download on XBLA, isn't it still bundled on the hard drive?

Who says people can only purchase one game? I don't know the European price of the UMC, but I'd imagine the Euro pricing in similar at just $30US and the XBLA Gunstar Heroes only $5US. Considering it's GUNSTAR HEROES WITH ONLINE SUPPORT, it's worth it to me. :P Even if Backbone stinks and produces shoddy barebone emulated ROMs, it's hard to pass up the ability to play Gunstar Heroes on-line, even with the far superior Treasure Box release out there.

You monster! How could you delete such a simple and addictive FREE game?!

'Cause it's shit and takes up valuable disc space. I deleted it aswell.
I kept it. Never been one to get rid of something I was given for free.
What about Virtual On I've heard mixed things about it?

I found it to be abit shit. Though don't take my word for it, download the trial which is what they're there for.
Very easy to get 200 points on, if you're into that kinda thing. Is at it's best online, single player doesn't last too long at all.

I loved the trial and will definitely buy it sooner or later. Just hard to bring myself to plunk down $15 for a game I already have, particularly when no one I know is buying to play against on-line. It's really a fantastic port and the best VOOT around barring the arcade itself. Just remember that the game is still nearly ten years old, and while the resolution has greatly increased and everything looks that much sharper, the polygon count has not be changed nor has any scenery been added.

I liked that though; it gave the game a bit more character making it feel more like an old school virtual reality looking game. I don't believe that every game has to be so realistic and extensively detailed that you can count the eyelashes on a kitten in the background.
Nothing wrong with the visuals just the terrible controls.

Terrible controls? You do know there's a setting for twin stick style movement using the analog sticks, right? It stupidly defaults to a Dreamcast style method, but the twinstick setting works great.

I found both to be abit shit. It might work better with proper joysticks but with the analog sticks it's not great. Ended up getting Armored Core because it controls better.
I'd recommend Sam & Max, Rocket Riot, and Magic: The Gathering (if that's your sort of thing).
