Helping you on your way to 1K

I was surprised not to see an achievement thread already, unless I missed it >_>

To be fair, is there actually anyone else here who gives a damn about achievements? XD Does no one else get a feeling of satisfaction when that lil popping noise err...pops up after you've spent days attempting to play 100 matches, or play for 50 hours, or collect all....you get the idea :D no one?

If that's the case then you're all really boring! ">_< / what else is the 'box good for if not achievements? They don't suit some games...but most of the time they're very well integrated :3

Anyway >_>" if I find a very easy game, I'll post it, if I find something super hard, or satisfying, I'll post that too.

I couldn't give a toss about them personally.

I never got into them myself but with my personal life being quite hectic I don't get alot of gaming time so I just don't have time to be raking in the points to be honest so im not bothered about them. I think if you can't afford many games though. The achievements are a very good way of adding depth and extra playtime to a game.

It's satisfying when I get one but I don't go out of my way to get them, that's kinda sad.

I always liked them for adding longevity. Would I have completed Project Sylpheed 7 times and still be playing it if I didn't need to shoot a Gigatonne's worth of ships for an achievement? No. XD

That, and the fact it gets me to play different games, I wouldn't have played A-Train, Rumble Roses, NBA, Scene It, etc. normally and some I've really enjoyed :D the best fun is getting a game at the same time as a friend and racing to get em all first....or just trying to boost completion rates...

I see achievments as stepping stones.
I feels good when you finally look back and see how high you are.
that, and pissin off your friends when they can't reach it :P

Lol! The only good thing about horrible achievements is laughing at your friends when they try to do them.

I prefer my games to have achievements and I like going for them, but I wouldn't pay for a bad game just because it had easy achievements.

On a related note I passed 30K today. Lame Achievement that did it though, 10 treasures in Tomb Raider Underworld, there's 179 in total.

Is A-train any good? I nearly bought that a few months ago but my brother, who has the PS2 one, advised against it.

Its not too bad, so long as you have a guide to help you. Instructions are useless and there's no tutorial modes...its more like sim city...you play stock markets, build up cities, build tourist destinations, airports, etc. I kind of liked it :3

And well done Master Hunter :D

I agree. Achievements add to the longevity of games, and the fact that you can compare yours with other gamers gives a general idea of how good you really are.

Alas, this is what I feared the most. I had Railroad Tycoon for the Dreamcast and never had the foggiest what I was meant to do, couldn't even beat the first mission.

There's a few achievement guides I could give you, they show you how to make money and you'll eventually figure out how everything works, its fairly satisfying when it does :P construction was the most frustrating part.

Not sure what you mean with that, I'll assume it's because I don't have a lot of games...(besides those you mentioned, there's Halo 3 and Star Wars The Force Unleashed) that's because i bought my X360 Elite late September . Damn, quite a collection you have there (arcade games ftw!:P)...

No, no ^__^ I meant Ninja Gaiden, DMC & fear all have really hard achievements :P

Arcade games rule XD though I only have like 8 retail games, most of which suck, I always trade or sell mine when I'm done ^^"

I keep my games, unless they really suck (never happened... i like to be informed before i buy the game) and yes, they have hard achievements... :(

Currently i'm going for the Sith Master achievement in Force Unleashed, damn, this is so hard ...

I haven't had a chance to play the Force Unleashed yet, though I've heard its pretty good :)

Once I finally beat Gears of War 2 I think I'll get the new Banjo & Kazooie game, it looks really cool :P

Banjo-Kazooie... now that's a game i loved back on the Nintendo 64... i am yet to see this new Banjo-kazooie game in action, but if it's anything like the n64 original, that's great :P had a nice sense of humor that game

The original should be on the live arcade tomorrow :D awesome huh?!

The new one isn't like the older ones...it uses vehicles, cars and things to get around...its had mixed reviews, but I loved the old games, so I'll give it a shot :P

I personally prefer the original Banjo-Kazooie over the new one. On topic with achievements, I'm sitting on the fence with this one. Achievements are a nice thing to add to a game, but not when people just buy games for them. And they shouldn't be impossible.

Banjo Tooie is the best of the series, the new one never was going to be better v_v

And why not? The challenge of getting 100,000 kills...beating a game 20 times...ultra hard mode, a lap time of 30 seconds, impossible achievements can be very fun :P and when you get them....wow, what a feeling

I just don't like beating a game 20 times, to me that seems excessive and ruins the game. Things like ultra hard mode, 100,000 kills, ect, thats fine.

I'd argue, but I actually agree with you :P seen Project Sylpheed? You need to beat the game 11 times, I've beat it 6, put in 21 hours of playtime and now I can't stand it, what started as a good fun game has become a horrible chore ><

Meh, I'm still complaining about how hard Sith Master difficulty is... Kazdan Paratus is driving me nuts!!!!!

It's fine, I'm not too bad at finding them, it's the Gargoyles I struggle with.

I've been going for time achievements in games lately; they make me feel like I'm achieving something just by sitting around. (Which is nice.)

A couple of tough ones, you need to beat the game before you can hit all 50.

Lol I don't mind time achievements, with the install it means it'll at least run quietly :)

Anyone have Soul Calibur 4? I'll be looking to boost one or two online ones

Wow, really? :O Way to go! Some of those achievements seem like they'll take a little bit of work.

I'm sure I'll figure out strategies v_v sucks that local vs doesn't count, though winning against different fighting styles and different stages online, I might need help with that :) I get the feeling 60% of online users are star wars characters -_-

Not at all. When I was playing people mostly seem to choose Raphael, Amy, Mitsurugi (sp?) and Cervantes. the first three a vertical spammers and the last has pretty easy special moves.

Yoda can be a pain, but a fast vertical spammer like Yun-seoung can destroy a Yoda abuser.

Personally I prefer the Kilik style as he has a wide variety of moves and has the best anti vertical spamming move (8 way run + Horizontal)

The hardest achievements to get are the reach level 20 online and the tower of souls achievements.

Tower of Souls will be no problem ;) I'll be able to figure something out, do you lose experience if you lose online?

Castlevania SotN, Omega Five...

No retail games fully completed. I have 700-900 in some of them.

I know I can achieve 200/200G in Megaman 9, but I'm too lazy to do it ) "finish the game 5 times in one day"... sick..

oh dear achievements, I think they are one of the many reasons I enjoy Fallout 3!

I have just started playing games on LIVE though, so I have a loong way to go to reach what some people have, a giant e-penis with 90K Gamerscore.

I believe achievements are motivation to keep you going and, well I guess it's all said in this thread, bottomline is, I approve! XD

However, beating arcade mode without using a continue (SF IV) is getting me mad I just can't, and I'm one of the best players in my country (implying not that the game is hard, but that my country has near zero competitive value), so I log online and just get chewed out or I win humilliating my opponent who ends to be a poor new player from who knows where.

Fallout 3's achievements were pretty much just bookmarks to remind you what sidequests you've done. Which considering how easy the game is isn't much of an achievement at all.

I found Sagat was fairly handy when it came to unlocking some of the harder characters and 1ccing it. Oh, and lower the difficulty and change it to one round if you can.

And I don't have many points either, barely over 1000 on the account I use now, but who cares, I have 200/200 for Space Giraffe.
