Hi Kids, whilst reading a CVG article about Zelda they mention that it is one of the best games ever made, now a lot of people seemed to agree that it is the best ever made, so I made a poll.

Simple question, is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the best game ever in your opinion?

Now it won't be everybodys and there can't be one game that everyone loves best, but what do you think?

It's 10 years old today! (Japan release date)

I can't decide that! the 2 answers are both extremes. I don't know if it's the best game ever but it'scertainly up there.

This is a tough one!

Well I could say yes, but then what about classics equally as good like Mario 64, Mario 3, Goldeneye, Sonic 3, Fallout, Neverwinter Nights, Doom, Duke Nukem, the Mother series and even other Zelda games and other such fantastic games...

Meh *votes yes*

Well i'm not saying if you say "God no!" you think it's bad, just is it the best ever?

Personally i'd say yeah, the only thing that has come close to it is Okami. It was just such a revaltion and set a standard of things to come. As a whole package it was just so complete.

Okami was just a really nice looking Zelda game with terrible combat though.

I still prefered it to Twilight Princess, although I loved both.

I think I prefer TP just because Okami's combat was really terrible now I think about it.

Next Zelda game to look like Okami please Nintendo.

Ocarina of Time is a very good game, but I wouldn't say it's the best thing since chocolate milk.

It's a bloody amazing game, all right, but I actually like Majoras Mask and Links Awakening more. And alot of other games from other series.

Really? Anny specific reason?
For me, I'm kinda tired of Hyrule since the poor country has been reused for way too many times, so I tend to prefer the games that take place outside of Hyrule.

LA's controls were fiddly and MM was just too short and tried to lengthen gameplay by having you go back in time and redo certain things to progress. Shame really because I liked MM's er masks and Termina was a pretty cool place.

Very average game. All this fuss over a fuzzy looking dungeon crawler. I don't know how Nintendo can dupe so many people.

Ocarina of time was actually the first Zelda game I ever had and I really enjoyed it but I can't be bothered with the newer ones. They just feel like the same game but with a novelty added on. e.g masks or turning into the Okami wolf etc. I can't even finish the newer ones I get well bored before the end.

I kinda agree, but at the same time don't. If anything too drastic was changed then it might not be a Zelda game at all.

That seems to be the series biggest problem.

I got bored of TP and never finished it, I whized through Minish Cap & Wind Waker...they need some sort of new layout or way to play...

Maybe a sandbox approach? :/ take on any dungeon in anyway you like...hmm...though you would need certain items....

So something like the original? I wouldn't mind that.

So were all agreed then: the game's complete shit.

Glad we sorted that one out. Good work lads.

The game was groundbreaking, amazing for its time, one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure to play, but definitley not the greatest game ever...that goes to Metal Gear Solid :P

I didn't realise the greatest game ever could be a graphic novel! Clearly the best game ever is Watchmen.

XD I like that. Im interested in what the film will be like too that. Im cautiously optimistic about the movie. Back on track though I just think the vote will give us the answer really on this. I just don't think this deserves the "best game ever" title. I can just think of too many games I prefer.

Everyone knows the best game in the world is Wipeout 2097.

MGS wins on every front :D Story, Presentation, Gameplay, Characters, everything about it was perfect. MGS4 so nearly beat it...but not quite v_v

It had perfect gameplay? Even with the incredibly dated stealth?

You're all wrong because really the winner is obviously Superman 64.

I get quite engrossed with the story to the MGS games but in terms of the actual gameplay, i've played better. The setpieces are pretty fantastic though. In MGS4 in particular. I think Reks right though, nothings gonna beat Superman. not even Bubsy 3d or any of the Army man games.

Don't laugh but me and a friend used to love the old Army Man games :P

Ocarina of Time was great, it really should be updated for the Wii. as for Twilight Princess, that was good, I really like the new darker style and the real contrast between light and dark.

There was a playthrough race of OoT last week on justin.tv

Sherlock

OoT was a great game for its time. Like Final Fantasy VII was good for its time.

But it's definitely NOT the best game ever, there are too many better games out there.

I don't think Ocarina of Time even manages to be the best game of it's respective console.

Edible panties are more amusing than that xD jkjk
It definitely not the best game EVER it depends on everyones opinions, i might agree if people say its the best Nin-64 title or zelda game but still people might disagree with that also.
Still a great game but not THE best.

That would depend on who's wearing them, and who's eating them ;)

Perhaps not the best game in the world ever, because that would of course be Portal  but cracking effort.

Personally Ocarina of Time while itīs good, I prefer A Link to the Past, Linkīs Awakening and The Minish Cap over it.

No, though it was a good game. I'd sooner submit Rez as the best, but it is a question of taste in creative design so there is no right answer.

In Zelda's, my favorite 3 are: Majora's Mask, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass... OoT isn't even in my top list :P.

Just kidding they're pretty decent. I'd probably put A Link to the Past above OoT and maybe Majora's Mask.

Ocarina of Time (it was the first I'd played, along with the first 3D game I'd ever really tried as well, at least...the first impressive one)

Oracle of Seasons

Wind Waker

Haha, seriously? That's pretty cool :P I've always felt the Oracle games don't get enough praise! Both adventures were totally different games and each was very deep and complex, combining the two together provided a kick ass ending!

More than that you could play through without combining and just get two really good seperate stories, cracking games!

I always forget the Oracles games exist shame really as they are pretty good.

Had Wind Waker not shat itself half way through (triforce shards can fuck off and die along with those stupid partner dungeons) it would easily be my favourite. So far both games in the Wind Waker series have been fantastic games with such mind blowingly bad ideas that it flat out ruins the experience... Hopefully Spirit Tracks won't have this problem choo choo.

Well, i don't recall a train in any Zelda before... I just hope they get a new gameplay, or it'll be just another phantom hourglass... Becuase the agmeplay also it's one of the most cool part of the games.

And you are right, Oracle's series where vey funny, long, and hard (i think it was because i ddin't understand english in that time XD)..I'm feeling stupid for selling it.

Trains are awesome though so we've no need to worry about that. Just need to worry that Nintendo are stupid enough to think people like the Ocean Kings bullshit temple.
