I'm surprised that there isn't already a Goldeneye thread in this forum.Classic game, classic soundtrack, quite possibly the greatest multiplayer in any game ever! So what are your favourite things about the game? Gameplay, characters, weapons, soundtrack, level design, multiplayer, anything in general really.

Surprised? Most of this is SEGA Talk.

Really? Because it seems the non-SEGA section has more posts than the SEGA section.

Man Goldeneye is awesome, just everything really. Surface 2 still scares me a little today thanks to it's poor visibility and awesome music, very atmospheric.

Edit: But what is with that SFX for the lab doors in Facility? I don't think I've ever heard a door make that sound when opening it.

Goldeneye is one of those games best left to memory...

Back in the day it was the holy grail of gaming and had the best multi-player ever.

Recently went back to play it and I was shocked at how ankward it was to control and how much of a letdown everything was, it didn't really stand the test of time too well.

Lazer Watch FTW though :D

This game was awesome in multiplayer, few of us would have one or two rounds in the mornings before school :P. I miss games like this.

Ah, the old times. Back then when I played games with my neighbour who then moved. =P

It was pretty cool, but shooters on N64 controller always were quite awkward to control.

That's like saying all old games are best left to memory, SEGA or otherwise. The fact that Goldeneye is one of the best games ever means people are still playing it now and will probably continue to do so 20 years after its release in 2017, which is more than can be said for most modern releases. As for the multiplayer, I've had some of the best deathmatches ever in the last few weeks. You also said you recently went back and played it, but how long had it been before that? Couple of years maybe? I think that Goldeneye including the multiplayer have stood the test of time quite well. Not perfectly, I mean the graphics are a bit shoddy now, but who cares about that?

That's not strictly true, 2D games certainly are as amazing now as they were back then, Genesis games in particular :)

Played it a few months ago, before that it had been about two years I think...I think if it was remade, graphics tidied up and controls to fit a 360 pad (like Banjo-Kazooie's recent XBLA release) then I think the game would be pretty cool to play through ^^

As it is I just can't use that hellish N64 Pad v_v and Personaly I think Goldeneye's best multiplayer ever award was stolen by Halo 2 :P which has never failed to be a bundle of fun.

The only console FPS better than Goldeneye is Timesplitters 2. Improved the controls while still keeping it similar which work perfectly on a console controller.

I just love everything about the game, and not just because it the first game I ever owned. I don't find the N64 controller akward as I have perfected the controlls.:P

It was a good game I remember playing deathmatchs round my mates house. He was a cheating git as well as he always chose Odd Job:mad:

I heard that Rare were gonna port it to Xbox Live for the 360, not sure if thats true though.

I doubt that since it would be up to Activision who probably don't want to make their new game look bad. More likely would be Perfect Dark, which is pretty much the same game with a different skin anyway so that's totally fine.

I still play it often on multiplayer with a few mates. Timed mines and remote mines kick arse. And the controls are great and it does still kick arse.

I remember this game, I used to always play it when my cousin came for a visit, I believe it was just about a stalemate.
I know I have this game, but I'm not sure where it is (as I never moved it).

*Off to look.

I occasionally play Goldeneye if I really have nothing else to do. It's not (completely) out of boredom, but I love the game. Turn on the All Weapons and Infinite Ammo cheats, run around, and blow stuff up. Add Slow Mo for more fun. There's only one other 007 game that can match Goldeneye, and it's Nightfire.

Question for you guys: How many of you know about the Citadel level? It was a secret test level Rareware left in the game. I was able to access it with my Gameshark and the code I found online, but after that, my Gameshark went apes*** and now I can't use it. XD

I think it was Activision who blocked it. Rare did look at porting GoldenEye onto XBLA, but because they don't own the Bond license, they're not allowed unless Activision say yes, and I don't think they have so far.

Not heard about Perfect Dark going on there though, that's news to me.

It's news to me aswell, I didn't say it is happening, I said it's more likely than Bond since there won't be any nasty legal issues. With Grabbed by the Ghoulies now on XBL it's seems even more likely that RARE are gonna port more of their games to 360.

I hope that RARE will release Goldeneye on XBLA. And I'm gonna try out that Goldeneye: Source for HL2 now that I have the game.

Lat I heard there's quite a bit of licencing issues. The film names owned by one company, The game by another, something else by another etc. Sounds like it's just the legality's that's stopping it from coming out.

Yeah, to be honest I don't think GoldenEye would come out on the VC either. It's more likely to be given a HD makeover and released on XBLA, if anything.

I don't think an HD Remake of GoldenEye would be very good. I mean most of the time they do a crappy job and the origional would have been way better, for instance the remake of Soul Calibur, the HD verson is full of glitches and graphical messups.
