Hello there my fellow companions, I've seen a Dreamcast for about 125 dollars, and I don't know if it's worth a buy, comes with 2 controllers, one vmu, and some games, however I think im gonna burn my own discs :s ,
here a PS2 is around 300 dollars, a ps3 more than 1500 dollars, a wii 1000 dollars, and a Psone around 150 dollars, ..-_-
so what you think I should do?, get the dreamcast or save for something else?

hey thanks in advance:biggrin:!

I think you should get the dreamcast if it has a lot of games you think you will play.:)
BTW what kind of dollars is that as if it's US dollars then that is very steep for a used dreamcast console!

We suffer of the same thing when it comes to prices.

That´s seems to be a nice price for a Dreamcast. I think is worth it if you have a great amount of games to play/to be played. The worst is buy a console just to play one game, or a few.

If you feel this is the opportunity, go for it, unless if you´re saving money for a console of the current generation.

Sounds a bit much to me, I got mine with a wheel, 4 VMU's, a rumble thing, an extra controller and over 50 games for less than that.

actually its the cheapest price I could find in here
I was thinking in getting a Broadband adapter but its impossible to find here.

I dont know, its that I wanted some not so expensive console for the new year... since my plans for getting a DS overseas are ruined  stupid import taxes

You should definitely get a Dreamcast, especially if you can get one while the getting is good, they have a tendency to disappear fast. And on the subject of the Boot Disk, it might work I've had mixed experienced with them.

Go for it! But if you wanna burn your own games, make sure it's a model 1.

You should buy one. It's a lot easier to work than an emulator like Chankast. Tried working it before, and let me tell you: it's a lot harder to find BIOS than it seems.

Going off of what Wrath said, to find out what model the system is (if you don't know how to already) is to turn the Dreamcast over so you can see the bottom. Near the bottom of the label, there should be a number in a circle. That's the model number.
1 - No lockout (can play burned games)
2 - Lockout (cannot play burned games)
I'm done teaching :P.

Oh and 125 dollars in Uruguay? 1500 for a Ps3? Whats with the money in that country? I got my Dreamcast for like $30.

Dreamcast games are cheap as dirt anyway. Don't be another fucking pirate.

^It's not like you're helping Sega by buying the games. Since not only did they discontinue the Dreamcast stuff and stop support of the Dreamcast, but when you're buying them from places like Ebay, Pawn Shops, or local video game stores, Sega isn't getting your money for their work. The pawn shops are.

Do what you want, ‘cause a pirate is free,
YOU ARE A PIRATE!
Yar har, fiddle di dee,
Being a pirate is alright to be,
Do what you want ‘cause a pirate is free,
You are a pirate!

XD

as Wrath Oskvro stated, buying original games has no point nowadays.

I AM I PIRATE

Yeah, I downloaded all of my games so far (only like 4 or 5), but I plan on getting some from Amazon and such.

Ah yes, but filthy pirates are one of the reasons that Sega pulled out as quickly as they did. The last year or so of the DC's life was full of those something for nothing idiots that thought their actions had no consequences. I suppose it's the legacy of that still irritating me.

And I don't care about what is good for Sega, only that people no longer show any respect for these great games and treat them like such a disposable thing that aint worth shit other than a quick download. I'm not one of thses people with immaculate collctions, but there is still a tactile pleasure to be had for hunting out the proper game with it's box and book still intact.

Indeed there is, but to the average gamer, who cares?

You won't find them in Game, Gamestation, whatever high street store, neither Sega nor the developer will make a penny profit so I say go for it and download.

Except they are in Gamestation, I saw Shenmue II in the other day.

Having that said, I'd also like to add that if Sega were to make another console (extremely doubtful, but lets just say) I would buy it in a heartbeat. And I have none of the newer systems, nor do I care to have them, so I hope that's saying something. And if it were a new console by them, since they've got support on it, so will I. I think alot of people will agree with that as well.

I just to own a real copy of a game rather than just have a copy but im not overly sensitive to the idea of downloads. especially with the older consoles (pre-dreamcast) Im a gamer and as long as the games are being enjoyed, that's the main thing.

I would defintely pick up a Dreamcast, but then I am biased because I love and own almost all of the Sega consoles.

As stated earlier in the thread - here in America we can pick these up used for around $30. Would it help if one of us American users picked one up for you and shipped it out? Would that save you any $$$ or is the import tax outrageous?

I play my Dreamcast on a daily basis. I am even so brainwashed that I can play 8 hour sessions of Sonic Shuffle (which most people absolutely despise).

Wrath Oskvro

^- I do the same, but it's not with Sonic Shuffle haha.

But yeah, after having played the PS2, Xbox, and GC, I have honestly had the most fun out of any of those with the Dreamcast. PS2 comes very close, but Dreamcast takes the cake.

Long loading times limit my play on that to 2 hours.
Dreamcast has so many games, though most of my better ones are imported.

Totally go for the Dreamcast. Out of my 23 consoles, I definately play it the most and have the most fun with it.
